Doctor Who Tegan Jovanka and Destroyed Dalek Vortex Set

Available to order from www.character-online.com

Character Options releases first Doctor Who exclusive of 2026

The first Doctor Who exclusive figure set of 2026 has been confirmed by Character Options as a ‘Vortex Edition’ of the Tegan Jovanka & Destroyed Dalek. The set will go on sale today, Monday 26th January, available solely through www.character-online.com.

About the Set

This limited-edition “Vortex” set comes with two figures, and two accessories. Both figures feature the now customary higher specification decoration for which this Vortex range is becoming renowned for. The Tegan Figure is intricate in its styling and stands 13.7cm tall, with multiple articulation points consisting of ankles, knees, hips, waist, shoulders, elbows and neck. She comes in the outfit seen in 1984’s iconic story ‘Resurrection Of The Daleks’.

Her accessories consist of a Dalek Trooper gun, as used by Commander Lytton’s Dalek squad, as well as a Movellan virus canister. Also included is a destroyed ‘Resurrection’ style Dalek, with a blasted and scorched casing, Internal life support tank, splattered with bright green Dalek ‘Gloop’ and showing mutant Dalek creature within.

About the episode – Resurrection of the Daleks (1984)

Tegan Jovanka, an Australian air steward from Brisbane, accidentally entered the TARDIS thinking it was a real police box. And so began an amazing journey through time and space, where she encountered many species from distant planets, and faced darker corners of her own psyche.

Introduced during the Fourth Doctor’s era alongside Adric, Tegan soon found herself travelling with the newly regenerated Fifth Doctor, who repeatedly tried to get her home. Tegan repeatedly proved herself a hero, confronting evil, and helping others whenever she could. Her strength and honesty defined her time as a companion, qualities that would later see her return to aid future Doctors when the universe once again needed her.

Al Dewar, Creative Director, Character Options, said: “The one that got away… almost! This set started life many moons ago in a wholly different form and it has been across my desk at least four times in as many years. Once it was possible, it continued to be revised many times over, before finally becoming a completely new figure from top to toe. The team knocked it out the park on this one and we’re very proud to bring the one and only Tegan Jovanka to the figure range.”

This new set is on sale now through www.character-online.co.uk and costs £44.99. Each online exclusive release has unique features not to be seen on retail versions and with a limited amount available, this set is certainly one not to be missed!

Mines arrived but the trooper weapon seems a pointless accessory as i cant seem to fit it onto the hand of Tegan or the 5th doctors hand to create a dramatic pose

It’s a bit of a tease to release the trooper weapon without a Dalek Trooper (or Lytton…!) at the other end of it…..

It’s a piece of prop that the Doctor “uses” for a cliff hanger doesn’t need a trooper.

I have found if you gently open the hand, insert it into gun , the fingers bounce back. Gun held.

I’ve done this on a few things. Surprisingly movable the fingers on these models. Or a stick it tab.the sort that often hold adverts on to magazine pages.

Easy to remove with no damage. Zygon control, jelly baby bag, brig hand gun. Fiddly bits you don’t want to lose Ruby’s red phone.

Yep, the Second Doctor is the only Doctor we don’t have a companion figure to represent his era. Jamie, please! After that I’d like to see Barbara, Zoe/Victoria and Turlough to go with their fellow travellers. Maybe a Susan and Barbara set? One day I’d love to see all of them!

      I would like to see

      Nyssa with The Garm
      Turlough with a Tractator
      Adric with Earthshock Cyberman

and if possible a Tegan, in Air Hostess Uniform, with a Mara Snake.

Probably only one of those ideas would be possible, but would like more companion figures. Perhaps double the companions up so Nyssa and Adric or Turlough and Peri.

I hate the thin, matchstick legs some of these figures have…
Movellans, Sharaz Jek, virtually every female companion…
They just fall over more easily…every time a bus goes by….
I would have bought loads more of those Axon men (I loved the look…!) If their legs hadn’t been so spindly….

    • Scotel

      January 27th, 2026 - 3:02pm

Jo, Peri and Clara are all very old figures at this point (as indeed is Leela which was their initial choice as a base before opting for a new build).

This is using the new “Gen 3” style so the closest comparison is Ruby although even from there this is a step up. I’d advise watching the Al Dewar interview about it he goes into a lot of depth about it (they also have Janet Fielding on who is a delight as always, she was very pleased to have the most advanced figure to date as it gives her gloating rights over Peter Davison).

      January 27th, 2026 - 8:37pm

@scotel Oh that is very cool! I didn’t even realise it was the new “Gen 3” style. That makes it significantly more worth the money imo. Glad to see the Gen 3 thing wasn’t something hyped up, used once and then never touched again.

Ordered! Pleased with the look of this set. Still not sure of the price, think £40 would probably be fairer, although it’s new tooling for the Tegan figure. Only thing with it is the look on her face – too happy! It would be more accurate it she had a surly expression! Still, an excellent set and another Classic one. Hope they do a Yeti and Jamie set someday.

Incredible, I’ve never clicked purchase so quickly.

Been wanting 5th Doctor companions for ages so it’s great to tick one off the list. Also, never got the destroyed Dalek when done for Remembrance and really wanted that too, so a slightly different version for Resurrection instead makes this a perfect combo pack for me.

Only my second Vortex purchase (along with the 3rd Doctor and screwdriver). Got my mum a set as well and it’s only her second Vortex set (along with 14th and Meep). Fair to say that makes this the best set overall from the range for us so far!

This looks fantastic but I can’t recall there ever been a scene in the Resurrection Of The Daleks the Tegan outfit and the accessories are correct but I can’t remember the destroyed Dalek in the story it must have been off screen. It just looks like a copy of the Remembrance Of The Daleks Imperial Destroyed Dalek from about 10 years ago only difference is that it’s green slime. Yeah and the good news is that Character has re-introduced the Pay Pal option. Happy Days.

    • Scotel

      January 26th, 2026 - 4:38pm

The Dalek is a modification of the original destroyed Imperial Dalek mould, so not a simple repaint but very similar. Tegan on the other hand is completely new from the ground up.

The Dalek is a preexisting mold, correct? I believe it was previously released about 10 years ago in white and gold Remembrance Of The Daleks colors. Although the inclusion of an “amoeboid” Dalek creature inside this mold might be different. I can’t recall the specifics of the Remembrance version. If it had the same dead creature inside it, then it would have been inaccurate as the white and gold Daleks had more “humanoid” creatures inside them, with a bionic claw attached to them.

I do like the inclusion of the Dalek Trooper gun. It was one of my favorite prop weapons from Classic Who.

This Dalek mold could be reused. 🙂 For an Evil Of The Daleks themed set. Just repaint it to match the destroyed Emperor’s Guard Dalek seen with its top blasted off and the creature oozing inside it. Maybe pair it with an undamaged Emperor’s Guard repaint. Or, maybe, hoping against hope, a set with both of those and a new mold of the Emperor Dalek itself.

Just looked at my Remembrance version the Dalek creature is their in a brownish colour but it also has a claw arm rising up out of the goo.
Is this the delayed one from last year ? and they did say they were going to tell us when the others would be due ?
Oh yeah and I’ve brought it

    • Clay

      January 26th, 2026 - 3:56pm

It’s not quite the same as the Remembrance destroyed Dalek – it has a different shoulder section, as the Imperial Daleks don’t have mesh between the slats or rivets on them. The mutant piece looks to be the same though (without the claw obviously)

    • NickD

      January 26th, 2026 - 8:42pm

It’s a Remembrance one with the claw arm removed.

The actual creatures are far more than human like, when we saw Arthur Stengos that wasn’t the final form the Dalek creature would take. In Remembrance the process had been massively refined and improved.

    • Amypondfan

      January 26th, 2026 - 1:21pm

By the time you factor in production costs, marketing, distribution etc, what exactly do you expect to pay? These things cost money to make, a lot more money than they did 15 years ago, costs have spiralled for manufacturing. And with the best will in the world these sets are definitely in the niche market making costs higher. They are cheap compared to other collections. Most figures come in at around £25-30 for a single figure or more. You can’t expect these for nothing or they will simply stop making them.

    • NickD

      January 26th, 2026 - 8:45pm

When they sell as few as they do as the production run is so low the price is correct.

Compare them to Marvel and Star Wars. Those films do not sell that well and they have recently increased the prices for these.

    • daz

      January 27th, 2026 - 12:23pm

      Never say never Ian.

As per the who cave podcast (on YouTube) we’ll never get the boobtube outfit as Janet hated that one.

This release was her favourite outfit and the air stewardess one is the iconic Tegan look.

Hopefully this is the start of filling the companion gaps.

£45 is reasonable for a totally new figure with a unique dalek. I’d rather this than the never ending repaints in the b&m budget range.

If Turlough gets made he’ll just be an old figure with a new head -school outfit could use Ian’s figure or even the 10th Doctor suit maybe.

I was thinking the same about the dalek gun but i think i sold my molloy davros years back so he wont be pointing it at anything. Unless he points it at Tegan. After his expression at the end of timeflight, it seemed he wasnt that keen on having her back aboard anyway.
