Doctor Who Target 2026 1 The Satan Pit Paperback
Available to order from www.amazon.co.uk
The Doctor and Rose travel to Krop Tor – an impossible planet orbiting a black hole, defying the laws of physics. With the TARDIS lost to them, trapped with a crew of human explorers and their alien servants, the Ood, they find ancient ruins… and something far older and darker stirring beneath the surface.
Whispers speak of a malevolent force imprisoned since before time – something that even the Doctor fears. As seismic horrors rise and minds begin to fracture, one terrifying question remains: What if the Devil is real?
Screenwriter Matt Jones presents an inspired and novel retelling of his own two-part adventure from David Tennant’s first season as the Tenth Doctor, also starring Billie Piper as Rose.

January 20th, 2026 - 8:31amVery interested to read this one seeing as Matt Jones himself is writing it…
Supposedly, this is one story that Russell massively rewrote / edited back in the day, and just didn’t credit himself for so I’ll be interested to see if Jones’ novelisation will have any differences to the tv story that maybe were in his original version.

January 20th, 2026 - 10:31amI loved David Tennant’s first year as Dr Who….it was all so new and different….
He looked like a late 70s post punk singer…

January 19th, 2026 - 1:14pmOut of all the three that are soon to be releasing, this is the one I feel I am the most excited for. I’m intrigued by how Matt will expand upon his wonderful script for this novelization.

January 21st, 2026 - 2:14pmFrom the audio version’s description, it sounds like it will be a bit different from the usual!

January 19th, 2026 - 12:10pmI doubt I’ll buy these but it warms my heart to see the TARGET range still going strong and reaching a new audience! I’m sure in years to come, these books will inspire the next generation of creatives in the same way RTD and Chibnall were inspired by the TARGETs they grew up with! Uncle Terrance, of course, Ian Marter and the fantastic Malcolm Hulke.
I read …and The Doomsday Weapon over Christmas and it still excited me as much as it did when I was a kid. Such quality writing and world building.
(What’s the betting I end up buying at least one of these three ? 🙂

January 22nd, 2026 - 1:12amReally wish these novel releases would go back to the 70s and 80s where we got a regular monthly release to catch up on the back catalogue andl then latest season episodes.
Used to love receiving Celestial Toyroom from DWAS with details / photo of the latest covers.
Might be passed it and dreaming at 62 Yr old.
Here’s hoping.

January 22nd, 2026 - 8:42amI’d much rather they went to a monthly target release and scrapped all of the new fiction. I stopped getting new fiction two years ago (there are exceptions, mainly the erimem and cushing series but I’m also getting any big finish BBC adaptations they do but only in paperback) I just started to find new fiction just didn’t appeal anymore. All I’m interested in now are target books and adaptations.
