Doctor Who Target 2022 The Stones of Blood

Available to order from www.amazon.co.uk and www.forbiddenplanet.com

“We won’t find Dracula hanging around the Manor. But we may find something equally disturbing…”

The Doctor is delighted when his quest for the Key to Time leads him to his favourite planet, Earth. But his friends are less enchanted: Romana is nearly lured to her death by a sinister apparition, and K9 is all but destroyed by a belligerent boulder with the power to move – and a thirst for blood.

An ancient stone circle becomes a battleground as the Doctor must outwit the deadliest alien criminal this side of hyperspace – and her bloodthirsty silicon servants…

This has more fizz to it than Androids of Tara. But even this looks empty, with the fizzle filling up more than it was ever meant to do.

Be interesting to read as a book, The Audio is a good reading of dry text. Much more than Lord Terrance did. Yet i felt his were fine at the time.

Hoping An Unearthly Child New Novel ( Nigel Robibson) could be sorted from the long protracted nightmare the Audio us in.

Am I correct? The Stones of Blood isnt a reprint of the original novel, it’s a novelisation of the audio book which is different.

Yes Jonathan J. Both this and Androids of Tara, are new versions written by the original Author .

Interesting take on both stories, not a great fan of Androids new version ( on Audio) but Androids is very good.

Just another point. I don’t like the fact they have changed the ‘DOCTOR WHO’ Logo for all future Target reprint publications. I wished they kept the previous Logo

I’m a big fan of the Whittaker-era logo generally. It works really well on a variety of different bits of merch, including the CDs and Blurays. But the stacked version used on these books is ugly as sin.

Wouldn’t surprise me if the logo changed again when Russell takes over.

I would like to see Shada in the target reprints range. Disappointed it is not coming out soon. Also would like to Paradise of Death andThe Ghosts of N-Space . Also The Pescatons.

As I think has been implied on another thread here, the cancellation of Gareth Roberts makes a new version of Shada unlikely.

Pescatons was printed in the original target range, number 153. Paradise was no 156, printed by virgin with the target logo on the inside and ghosts was printed as the first pertwee missing adventure in 1995

I’m listening to ‘Ghosts of N-Space’ on CD at the minute for probably the third or fourth time and I still haven’t got a clue what it’s about! Not the best.

I’ll be interested in them if like last year Forbidden Planet (or someone else) gets hold of some signed copys again.

Sadly unlikely to get David Fisher to sign anything.

Hoping for new series novelisations rather that reprints but the release rate is way too slow.

I’d be very happy if was flux. There are now five so presumably there are still two more to be announced as seven seems to be the norm. I’m hoping for a target version of shada just to complete the classic era target range.

It might just stay at five, one for each of the modern era doctors, though a target version of Shada would be good.

Book Collector, Shada is still unlikely with Gareth Roberts being persona non grata.

I’m hoping for novelisations of the new audio adaptations (Stones of Blood, Androids of Tara, and Unearthly Child). The audios have already been written, so it would be a cinch to publish them.

Unearthly child is unlikely as it’s tied up in complicated copyright issues. Shada could be published as the original is still in print. They could also just get James Goss to do (yet) another version as a target one would be closer to the original version than the novel would be anyway. Fisher’s stones and android I’d be happy with but I’d still like uncle Terrance’s versions to be made available again too.

I think what Rory meant was that Roberts would not be allowed to slim down his own version of Shada to a Target-sized reprint, as was done with Goss’s Adam’s adaptations. The full version would be much too long for Target, I imagine. But yes I guess that another person might take on the job.

These letters are all very intriguing, aren’t they?

As far as I remember the last set had code letters as well and they didn’t correspond to the books in anyway.
