June 7th, 2014 - 4:27pmJust pre-ordered this! Something really draws me towards it. I love the new colour after all these years of that dull grey, and it finally has the yellow wires!!! I only have the End of Time one with the purple UV light, so I’m glad I waited for this one before I got the wave 2 release. Great to add to Day of the Doctor merchandise aswell.

June 7th, 2014 - 3:12pmI wonder if this is a continuation of a Day of the Doctor range from Character? We’ve had the War Doctor’s sonic screwdriver and the War Doctor figure. We’re also getting the Tenth Doctor’s sonic screwdriver.
Would it be unreasonable to predict a Tenth Doctor figure, as well as a sonic screwdriver and figure from the Eleventh Doctor?
Sub Zero Nameless
June 10th, 2014 - 1:06amYou know, I don’t at all doubt that Character will re-release all existing products to do with the 50th with just a few minor tweaks and new packaging. Well… at least it’s all reasonable quality.
David
June 7th, 2014 - 10:55amPre-ordered:D
Reminds me of my good old Eccleston Screwdriver.
This is staying in the box and sitting with the War Doctor and his screwdriver
lee moone
June 7th, 2014 - 10:09amIt’s a replica of a replica that was inaccurate in the 1st place. How strange it’ll fold in on itself and implode!
Kelvin
June 7th, 2014 - 2:11amHasn’t this been released before? I have this Sonic Screwdriver same colour and everything.
booboo
June 7th, 2014 - 10:09ambut not everyone one was collecting or buying back then
each year there are new fans and new customers
lee moone
June 7th, 2014 - 11:25amNope not this yellow or yellow wire. It has always been black until now. 1st edition was very light pink then a cream before the grey. This banana yellow is totally new.
Clare McDonagh
June 7th, 2014 - 12:47amWell I am liking the look of the Sonic Screwdriver that David Tennant used in The Day of The Doctor and plus who cares if it is different than the other one that he has used throughout his time as The Tenth Doctor the only difference tae this one is the body colour but tae me it is still the same old reliable Sonic Screwdriver
The Master
June 6th, 2014 - 9:56pmSaw this article and ordered one from the BBC shop online, looks good.
Clayderman
June 6th, 2014 - 7:41pmBeats a grey body I suppose! 🙂 You all are complaining about too much, as long as it’s a Blue LED (as pictured) with the 2 default sfx i’m perfectly happy! All there’s to do is just use s felt tip or shoe polish to rub into the body for a more crackled effect. And hey, at least this time CO has got something right! The yellow wires going as apposed to a (presumebly) cheaper black.
StetsonDoctor
June 6th, 2014 - 8:15pmIt’s actually really nice-the moment I saw it I thought YAY :D!
My old 10s Sonic broke years ago, and I’ve been meaning to get another since-I almost got one of the re-releases. However, I’m glad I’ve waited because this is tons better 😀
StetsonDoctor
June 6th, 2014 - 6:53pmJust thought-this is retailing at £9.99, however the Other Doctor’s sonic retailed for £19.99…
Thehostproductions
June 7th, 2014 - 10:04amBecause the war doctor sonic was released for the excel convention for the 50th so they wanted to make as much money as possible off one product.
Doctor 909
June 6th, 2014 - 6:07pmThis looks more like 9’s screwdriver! The yellow wire is to thick come on CO if us at home can do this, surly you can!!
Thehostproductions
June 7th, 2014 - 10:06amThe yellow wire needs to be thick so the current of electricity can get to the light at the top by adding small wires in the yellow piece
Dalek1234
June 7th, 2014 - 10:07amagreed!
The Living Shadow
June 7th, 2014 - 10:27amThe 10th doctors universal remote had a very thin yellow wire, but I think it would cost more to do, as you’d have to get a thinner wire and a stronger LED, and for a £10 product they won’t use very expensive components
The four Doctors
June 6th, 2014 - 4:52pmStill buttons on the side, I would have prefered it to have the mid button like the replica, that would make it awsome.
UDWF1
June 6th, 2014 - 5:46pmI agree. Surely if fans in their garages can do it, Character Options can too
the astronaut of death
June 6th, 2014 - 4:36pmto be brutally honest
it looks as though the 10th doctor dropped his sonic screwdriver down the toilet
Dalek1234
June 6th, 2014 - 4:55pmLOL
Dalek1234
June 6th, 2014 - 5:07pmLOL LOL LOL
Sub Zero Nameless
June 10th, 2014 - 1:10amThe saddest part is that I agree completely…
LG
June 6th, 2014 - 4:27pmAt long last, about as accurate as we will ever get it.
The four Doctors
June 6th, 2014 - 4:49pmunless you get the universal remote
lee moone
June 8th, 2014 - 11:08pmUnless you buy an MFX one off eBay as that was the inaccurate 10th Dr Sonic, that finally became legitimate in Day of the Doctor, when one was used instead of Tennant’s!
the astronaut of death
June 6th, 2014 - 3:40pmthe yellow looks weird
i prefer the other one
Mumble5557 Online
June 6th, 2014 - 3:16pmDefinately going to pick this up! Goona grab War,3rd, 4th, 5th too
Mumble5557 Online
June 6th, 2014 - 3:21pmThe middle section seems too yellow though
Tardis’nt
June 6th, 2014 - 3:27pmit was in the episode – they used 9’s one instead of 10’s.
It can be seen that the doctor has many versions of his screwdriver, too
Anonymous
June 6th, 2014 - 4:56pmNo, not that bit, the bit under the LED, shouldn’t it be a rusted bronze/gold??
Dr who Fan prop maker
June 7th, 2014 - 9:37pmOk, this was not nines, it was a replica of tens, he gave his existing sonic to the wand company to make the remote, the ninth doctors sonic was only used in series 3 but had yellow wires and a grey paint instead of the first version with colony cream plastikote and red and black wires, if it was nines (aztec) how would it extend, cause that sonic only had different sonics in different positions, unless you are talking about the wide slider sonic, but that was destroyed, this was an mix and was even said that he used the 4 given to him by Neil.
Dr who Fan prop maker
June 7th, 2014 - 9:38pmOh he, the aztec was first used in series 1 then again in series 3 but that was a total remake as the aztec was converted into the wide slider
Tardis’nt
June 10th, 2014 - 8:35pmok, but why is 9’s called the Aztec?
Dr who Fan prop maker
July 8th, 2014 - 9:17amthe aztec has found of to be called that as a nickname as the company was called aztec props, also it has been found to extend by pulling the head to the position chris wanted it to be in
Trenzalore
June 6th, 2014 - 3:15pmSlow down I still need to get the war doctor sonic 😆 I will definitely get this though.
It’s good that it’s different from previous releases of this sonic but I really don’t like it. The colours don’t compliment each other, making it look rushed and I didn’t even notice it looked like this in the 50th or anytime during the 10th doctors reign. But I do love the packaging.
booboo
June 6th, 2014 - 3:19pmyes he had his hand over it most of the time but pictures show this is probably as near as you going to get to it for £10
Trenzalore
June 6th, 2014 - 3:46pmSo the 10th doctor had 2 Sonic’s in his time; this one and the one he had up to 2010? Or were the other sonic models released just wrong?
Jon Thomson
June 6th, 2014 - 2:54pmThis is completely inaccurate. The sonic David Tennant used in the ‘The Day Of The Doctor’ was one of the more robust Ninth Doctor’s Aztec sonics. The reason behind this was because David had a tendency to break his prop sonics during his tenure as the doctor & the only one left in existence is the one he was given as a gift when he left the show. He lent it to The Wand Company so they could make a 3-D copy for their universal remote but there was no chance he was going to use it during the filming of the 50th.
lee moone
June 6th, 2014 - 4:55pmNo it wasn’t an Aztec. It was an MFX replica supplied by Neill Gorton. Neill said so himself and the inaccurate colour also proves it. For the record DT Never used the Aztec (non slider version) while he was the Dr. Please have a look online as details are there by people better equipped with the knowledge than I. As for this version, not sure why theyve made it or who it’s aimed at as there are plenty of CO versions still kicking about and if you want ‘high end’ Sonics, I’m sure the Celestial Toy store & The Wand Co fill that gap!
Jon Thomson
June 6th, 2014 - 7:14pmThanks Lee I wasn’t aware it was an MFX replica. I run a group on Facebook & could have done with you earlier. Please feel free to join https://www.facebook.com/groups/galifreyanchronicle/

June 6th, 2014 - 2:51pmso does this one glow blue?
Sub Zero Nameless
June 10th, 2014 - 1:14amYes, it does in-fact.
DrWhoTwins
June 6th, 2014 - 2:06pmAwesome!
The Holographic Doctor
June 6th, 2014 - 1:55pmVery nice !
Sebatron
June 6th, 2014 - 12:50pmDoes this mean that the 11th sonic will be based on the 50th? Maybe with a better spring and button mechanism… and released in this packaging. It would go well with this and the war doctor’s.
booboo
June 6th, 2014 - 12:53pmwas wondering that myself
Anonymous
June 6th, 2014 - 1:09pmTo be perfectly honest, I’m extremely surprised that this has been brought out. Don’t get me wrong-I really love the new yellow colour and all, it’s just a bit odd that they actually released it again in my opnion. Therefore, I suppose that anything is possible. It would make a lot of sense to do an 11th Doctor’s sonic re-release too…
booboo
June 6th, 2014 - 1:13pmi dont know if these are limited to just some retailers, some i know don’t even know about (until now)
The info has not been released in the usual manor
Dr who Fan prop maker
July 8th, 2014 - 9:21ama new twelth doctors sonic is coming out in august which has swappable emitters and a spring mechanism but push both sides of the handle to activate
itdalek
June 6th, 2014 - 11:10amThis may be abit of a longshot but we had the war doctors screwdriver then we had the figure and now we have the 10th so could we be getting a new 10th doctor figure and an 11th screwdriver and figure as well?
Clayderman
June 6th, 2014 - 8:05pmPossibly. Swappable heads with fezzes? Or sonic in Up AND Down mode? Maybe The Moment with the BIG READ BUTTON… How about a Bad Wolf Figure? 😮
GallifreyanKnight
June 6th, 2014 - 11:01amI never noticed how “yellow” it was in “The Day Of The Doctor”, lol.
Sam Richard Bentley
June 6th, 2014 - 10:52amI may get this for my collection – then I can have Nine and Ten’s Sonics
Sam Richard Bentley
June 6th, 2014 - 4:45pmActually – I am considering pre-ordering this, and getting the Fifth Doctor’s sonic screwdriver too – then my collection would be complete, until the next sonic design comes along, or they finally release the Second Doctor’s sonic screwdriver!
Are there any BBCShop codes flying about at the moment?
TheDoctorOfWho
June 6th, 2014 - 10:28amYAy!! Ever since the MFX model came out and my wallet burnt…I wanted a model from CO to show the progression in my collection! This looks great!
AlphaOmega
June 6th, 2014 - 10:12amAm I the only one who didn’t notice any difference between his Day model and his Series model?
Danny
June 6th, 2014 - 10:23amNo id din’t notice either! Is it a diffrent model though?
CG
June 6th, 2014 - 10:48amDavid Tennant was given the actual prop that was used in his final series but he didn’t use that for the 50th. He used the mfx replica, which is what this is supposed to look like. So this is a replica of a replica . . . .
Dalek1234
June 6th, 2014 - 11:21amright…
StetsonDoctor
June 6th, 2014 - 9:44amBeautiful!
CG
June 6th, 2014 - 9:42amSo they only released this to match the mfx prop replica that David Tennant had, wow…
Daveroper00
June 6th, 2014 - 9:40amFINALLY they have made a correct replica for the tenth doctors sonic!
Clayderman
June 6th, 2014 - 7:51pmNot correct, per se – but more accurate than their countless previous attempts.
Danny
June 6th, 2014 - 9:36amIsn’t it the same as the other 10th doctors packing?
booboo
June 6th, 2014 - 9:37amno looks new like the “other doctors sonic”
Danny
June 6th, 2014 - 10:00amDo’h! I meant the screwdriver not the packing
GallifreyanKnight
June 6th, 2014 - 10:56amI wonder if it’ll have a blue LED instead of the purple UV LED…
CG
June 6th, 2014 - 11:11amIt looks blue
