Doctor Who Series 1 Steelbook Blu-Ray
Available to order from www.amazon.co.uk
Relive the acclaimed first series of Doctor Who with this limited edition Steelbook exclusive to Amazon.
Christopher Eccleston’s Doctor is wise and funny, cheeky and brave. An alien and a loner (it’s difficult keeping up with friends when your day job involves flitting through time and space), his detached logic gives him a vital edge when the world’s in danger.
But when it comes to human relationships, he can be found wanting. That’s why he needs new assistant Rose. Rose is a shop-girl from the present day. From the moment they meet, the Doctor and Rose are soulmates.

February 17th, 2017 - 10:56pmI changed to Blu-ray from Series 7 onwards and have never given a second thought to replacing my older DVD boxsets. But the Series 9 and Sherlock Series 4 steelbooks on my shelf are absolutely gorgeous, and today’s price-drop finally swayed me towards pre-ordering this.

February 17th, 2017 - 9:55pmHow many times has series 1 been re-released now? It’s a nice cover but I don’t think a lot of people will buy it

February 17th, 2017 - 8:27amIs this an upscale or a full remaster
I might pick it up if it is a remaster
platon29
February 18th, 2017 - 9:22amUpscale, it’s likely gonna be the same as the blu-ray release just with a different print on the disk and a nice new case.

February 17th, 2017 - 8:26amBooboo
Is this upscale releases or full re scans
Michael
February 17th, 2017 - 9:49amIt can only be an upscale as Doctor Who wasn’t recorded in High Definition until Planet of the Dead. However, if it was a new upscale at the correct speed I’d buy it. Highly unlikely though.
Ian
February 17th, 2017 - 11:13amThink it’s the same as the other blu ray release.
Ian
February 16th, 2017 - 11:01pmNice cover and design but Ill pass, already have the series 1-7 box set.

February 16th, 2017 - 8:54pmI really like the unquie design

February 16th, 2017 - 8:34pmOne thing that does bother me is how they use the classic logo on anything that isn’t Capaldi era now.
I just wish that for this steelbook (and hopefully if they release more) they would use a white variant of the 2005 logo for Series 1-4 + specials, a white version of the 2010 logo (Doctor DW Who) for Series 5 and 6 and a white version of the 2012 logo (Doctor Who DW) for Series 7 and the 50th Anniversary specials, and then the 2014 logo for the Capaldi items.
I also wonder, if they release steelbooks for the rest of the series, how they would do the 2009 and the 2013 specials. We already have the nice 50th Anniversary collectors Blu-Ray… would they just repackage that as a steelbook? Thats one of my biggest problems with this show – all the home releases have been so inconsistent xD
Jay Glover
February 16th, 2017 - 9:20pmYes, Should Have Been Release a while back
JA
February 16th, 2017 - 10:52pmI think they did it for consistency, people like a matching set. Since Series 1-7 are considered “Classic” in the eyes of the BBC, the classic logo was the best choice for consistency. Same thing should happen to all merch from Capladi’s era by next year.
Nicholas Brent
February 17th, 2017 - 10:34amBut it isn’t even consistent this way because all of the Capaldi stuff has the current logo. If they do release steelbooks for the other series, what if by time they get to Series 8 it’s 2018 and has the classic logo on it. It won’t match Series 9. Tis silly.
James A
February 17th, 2017 - 8:01pmThen they should re-release Series 9 with the classic logo then too, makes sense. They re-released the Series 7 DVD with the classic logo like 9 months after its initial release.

February 16th, 2017 - 7:35pmMy thoughts
Very Nice but i already have the standard blu ray which I got £17.99
I Think this is a bit too expensive for an upscale the art work is nice but too expensive and I would prefer it to be slightly lower in price
Dalek4ever
February 16th, 2017 - 7:43pmYes. Same

February 17th, 2017 - 8:30amUPDATE: Amazon at least listened and it is 24.99
Tom
February 16th, 2017 - 7:32pmMore money grabbing! I’ve already got all the series & the spin-offs, so I don’t need to get this. I also hate Blu-Ray because they are only money grabbing items. It actually doesn’t make the sound of picture any better.
Jay Glover
February 16th, 2017 - 7:36pmYes, Just a little text improvement is the only read mayor change I spotted
Nicholas
February 16th, 2017 - 8:27pmI also hate Blu-Ray because they are only money grabbing items. It actually doesn’t make the sound of picture any better.
That’s not true at all. Blu-Ray is far superior to DVD. But assuming we’re just talking Doctor Who here, Series 1-4 might only be an upscale but there is a noticeable difference in quality.
lava tree
February 16th, 2017 - 8:46pmI actually think that the sound and picture quality is better on blu ray, but i dont get them for everything. I have got Suicide Squad and ill only get another blu ray if i really enjoyed the film/program.
Blu rays are overrated, but if its something u really like watching, go for it.

February 16th, 2017 - 7:31pmI love the look of this, Ive been wanting to get Series 1-9 on blu ray for a while now (although i already have them on Dvd) because i got a blu ray player for christmas and i was going to buy the Series 1-7 blu ray boxset but that is too expensive now and im so glad i waited because now i can hopefully get the blu ray steelbooks for all the series’ if they release one for Series 2-8
Matt Edwards
February 16th, 2017 - 6:46pmAMAZING looking!! really hope they make the whole series 1-7 in this as that would make a beautiful collection! and i think £35 is very fair for what it is after all it is Blu-ray and a steelbook your getting.
Jay Glover
February 16th, 2017 - 7:33pmI think they should lower it a bit
£17.99 for a standrad blu ray upscale is very fair
£24.99 would be a fair price for this
ronariverah
February 16th, 2017 - 6:29pmBought the original DVD Tardis shaped DVD Boxed back in the day for £50 (?) and brought the Series 1 – 7 boxed set on Blu-ray so as much as I love a steel book no.
Man, I love a Steel book. !
ronariverah
February 16th, 2017 - 6:30pmMaybe if is gets cheaper.
Omega63
February 16th, 2017 - 5:38pmBeautiful, but too expensive for me to duplicate. Wish I never had any Doctor Who new series DVD’s now, because it’s clear they will do multiple steelbooks if this one does well, to fit with the Series 9 one. I never bought the Series 9 one for the sake of consistency, and now they’ll release others to fit in with it.
JA
February 16th, 2017 - 8:14pmAgreed. When Capaldi leaves, they’ll probably re-release Series 8-10 with the classic DW logo, since any past Doctor’s series is considered “classic” in the eyes of the BBC.
alan
February 16th, 2017 - 5:13pmAnnoys me that the ‘series 1’ text is so close to the logo on the spine, can they not space these things out given the length of the spine?
prototype dalek
February 16th, 2017 - 5:59pmAgreed, maybe even in large it a bit as well
Nicholas
February 16th, 2017 - 4:58pmThat is very nice! £35 is a lot of money for a double dip though. I’ll have to think about that
JasonisnotaRobot
February 16th, 2017 - 4:55pmI really like this but because it’s 34.99 and the fact that it’s on Netflix I’ll probably leave it
Reece
February 16th, 2017 - 4:54pmOH BAYBE!
Never doubled dipped before – but i may have to with this!
Matthew
February 16th, 2017 - 4:46pmI never use blu ray but THIS IS BEAUT!!!

February 16th, 2017 - 4:45pmI’m getting this.

February 16th, 2017 - 4:37pmLovely cover. Not for me, but I’d be all over one for the 50th Anniversary Collection.
Jordan Scott
February 16th, 2017 - 4:46pmThat would be great as I missed the normal release first time round! Also would be nice in honour of John Hurt.
Shallacatop
February 16th, 2017 - 6:56pmYeah, the original release was limited, particularly the BluRay. The original packaging is quite chunky compared to the other sets too!
Jay Glover
February 16th, 2017 - 7:37pmYes, Totally That would be bought in a instant for me
JA
February 16th, 2017 - 8:11pmIf they did re-release the 50AC, I’d prefer it without The Name of the Doctor, since it already should be part of a Series 7 Steelbook xD
PVW
February 16th, 2017 - 4:35pmWow that’s FANTASTIC!
I’ve been thinking about upgrading to Blu-Ray (I have everything from the 50th onwards) so that’s series 1 sorted 🙂
Jordan Scott
February 16th, 2017 - 4:32pmThat is an awesome cover with the Daleks and everything! On Chris’ birthday too! 😀
