Douglas.
June 15th, 2025 - 1:10pmWith the final episode The Reality War, there was a teaser, a sign saying London Borough of Hackney.
It excited me, as i’ve lived and worked in Hackney for many years…..and, we all thought:
Hackney = Susan, Shoreditch, Totters Lane……but absolutely nothing happened….!
Also, i’m sure i remembered Ncuti Gatwa one time saying he’d been filmed with the First Doctor (with some clever CGI, no doubt) but again nothing like that was seen….
Or did i just dream it all…….?
Snowman
June 15th, 2025 - 1:26pmIt probably was Filmed as with the Cameos of Susan in the Show, I think it was planned to Continue into Season Three. And Maybe just Maybe the 3rd Season was Going to have The Fifteen Dr Team up with the 1st Doctor for the Final Battle?
Not sure what happened. (Maybe you can Enlighten me) But the Next Minute the BBC had Filmed an Extra 20 Minutes of Footage to show The Fifteen Doctor Regenerating and Tagged it onto the End of the Second Season?
Auton
June 15th, 2025 - 1:30pmThe First Doctor thing was him recording for An Adventure in Space and Time
Douglas
June 15th, 2025 - 2:38pmAnd now we may (or may not) have Billie Piper as the 16th Doctor….
Irritating that we don’t know one way or the other, and probably not for many months to come…..
There were certain….ambiguities with Nguti’s regeneration……

June 15th, 2025 - 6:10pmYes, he recorded a segment to replace Matt Smith didn’t he?
Star Lord
June 15th, 2025 - 9:21amBit disappointed that the 2024 Prom and Unleashed: 20 Years in Wales aren’t included.

June 14th, 2025 - 11:12pmWell the last season sold so badly this will probably do just as badly. Now Disney are out and Netflix said no to the BBC years ago it looks like Who is cooked now courtesy of the clueless Beeb.

June 15th, 2025 - 9:02amWonder if anyone has the actual sales figures to compare them…
Amypondfan
June 15th, 2025 - 10:52amThis was released months ago…
‘When Doctor Who began its partnership with Disney Plus, there was additional funding put in place. Doctor Who is an expensive show to make, with its effects budget taking up a significant part of the overall spend,’ they said.
‘If Disney were to withdraw its funding, there wouldn’t be as significant an impact on production as some fans may think. The TARDIS set is still standing in Cardiff, all ready to go on new adventures. Whether or not Disney stays, the expectation is that the show will continue.’

June 14th, 2025 - 7:43amMaking a return visit to share this – Night of the Doctor script draft featuring the Rani:
https://www.the-saleroom.com/en-gb/auction-catalogues/east-bristol-auctions/catalogue-id-sreas11146/lot-def5c2f2-9bac-4ae7-bcbb-b2fb00f461e1
Not heard about that before, and it seems an unnecessary bit of cover (from memory), unlike using “Omega” as recording schedule cover for “The Other Doctor”. Interesting…
Walter Hardback
June 16th, 2025 - 1:27pmDid everyone else know that The Moff apparently tried to bring back The Rani? I looked around online, but couldn’t find any mentions of it – although I don’t do the forums and all that. (The script belongs to the editor, is dated a month before shooting, and has Rani specific dialogue – it’s not just a name swap.)
Tom Williams
June 13th, 2025 - 6:28pmBacking looks really good especially with both rani but it is surprising they never added the doctor regeneration from the tardis in space
Peter
June 14th, 2025 - 8:22amTony: personally, I think that would imbalance the image a bit. Also, it would see the Doctor on both front and back, which would be a bit jarring as a whole visual.
Mr. Ring-a-Ding (to my eye) initially stands out in a bad way, but then I remember the fact he’s a living 2D cartoon, which makes his appearance slightly uncannily ‘off’.
Tom Williams
June 14th, 2025 - 6:43pm?? That wouldnt make sense if they still cut it out as he re generates and especially his last season they could off simple just changed it like the series 4 special steelbook which was more a stand out thats what could off matched with the 15th doctor regeneration on the front and kept the back the same but it wouldn’t matter if it was a small image off him regenerating on the back either as its a stand out
Tom Williams
June 14th, 2025 - 6:46pmCompared too season one and even series 9 steel book it was mainly one the doctor and the other companion which are off course just two main characters but this one includes better showing for the season’s episodes better
Tom Williams
June 14th, 2025 - 6:55pmMy opinion we should be grateful with designs like this now days as war games and Daleks classic steel books was same and even some other animation ones wasn’t great with episodes themselves yes not saying season 2 was brilliant with episodes but art work for these dvds is worth while now days esp the seasons
Doctor Stu
June 16th, 2025 - 8:52amThey only filmed and tagged on the cobbled together regeneration at the same time episode 1 was airing so no doubt the artist had a clue it was even going to happen when creating the art
Tom Williams
June 19th, 2025 - 8:17amBit inappropriate when this season was complained about ?
time lord
June 13th, 2025 - 3:28pmany one know about unleashed 20 years
Rory
June 13th, 2025 - 3:27pmWe’ve got the image of the back now, and it is a nice piece of art, regardless of the quality of the actual episodes depicted.

June 3rd, 2025 - 1:59pmI’ve decided to get this but it took a bit of thinking. I have to admit to not enjoying this season. I think it’s the writing for me. Too much melodrama and not enough substance. Add in too many unfinished storylines (where was Susan!) and the overuse of unstoppable gods that are then fairly easily stopped (a hangover from the 60th specials really) and what feels like stunt casting (Tennant and piper.) I’ve watched who since I was 5 (Tom’s first season and I remember as far back as green death) and I’ve enjoyed new who. I loved Jodie. But this return of Davies has left me struggling with who. I will watch this season again and hopefully I’ll enjoy it more. I did enjoy the first season more on a rewatch. I do think davies maybe should step back a little and get more writers in and stop having the surprise same actor (Susan twist in specials and season one Mrs flood in one and two) appearing every episode during a season as its stops being a surprise when they show up!
For those who have enjoyed this new Davies era, that’s fine by me. I’m not saying I hate it, I’m just not enjoying it.
beef
June 13th, 2025 - 12:44pmthere’s barely any melodrama. it’s MISSING melodrama if anything
Bookcollector
June 13th, 2025 - 1:44pmIt is just my feelings on it, too much melodrama and the writing is saccharine at times as well, but that is Davies style.
Alex
June 13th, 2025 - 1:57pmDefinitely won’t be buying one of the worst seasons this is poor
Bookcollector
June 13th, 2025 - 2:26pmI’m getting it because I don’t want a gap, and I do want to watch them again and see if I enjoy them more. I’m thinking of not watching the extras as I’m not sure I can be bothered with the profuse gushing about the writing when I found it poor. I feel sad as I’m normally very positive about new who and there were bits in all of the episodes I liked it’s just there were elements that I didn’t like, the who fans in lux for example. A friend of mine put it well. She said it’s very much style over substance now. I did enjoy ncuti’s first series more on a rewatch and I’m looking forward to reading the target novels so hopefully I’ll enjoy them more. I also have to admit to not having any interest in the war between the land and the sea after seeing the trailer. Still others will enjoy it and have enjoyed ncuti’s second series and that’s fine by me.

June 13th, 2025 - 4:12pmWell sorry to disagree with you all. I enjoyed this last season, until the last episode , when all fell apart.

June 13th, 2025 - 6:15pmI thought the season was a solid B tier season until the finale two episodes. Nothing S tier, but still mostly enjoyable.
Bookcollector
June 13th, 2025 - 9:28pmLike I say, I’m hoping to enjoy it more. Not so much the last two but the other episodes.
Gordon
June 13th, 2025 - 10:46pmPersonally having had had time to think I think Russell needs to do 1 more season or set of specials to wrap everything up and go or transfer to a behind the scenes role. He feels a bit done as a show runner at this point.
To be clear I had a blast and enjoyed watching the 2 part finale at the cinema however the script was an obvious mess the more you think about it. I get the reshoots weren’t the original plan despite claims he was only staying for 2. Definitely does not tally. As for Billie I’m happy she’s back but i can’t escape the feeling it’s temporary stunt casting until they can get season three production sorted. I’d be more intrigued on who exactly she is if I knew a rough date of when things are going to get a resolution until then it’s currently a mystery box without a key.
I enjoyed the current series in the most part but it’s become very noticeable from speaking to other friends that are more casual fans that the show needs a narrative reset once this rtd2 era is wrapped up. Few of my friends felt lost about who rani and omega were and asked me a bunch of questions about them . Many of the answers ended up being because the script said so. I feel to grab back the casual audiences they need to reset the narrative continuity and go back to basics with just the doctor tardis with companion. Not saying you shouldn’t go and use old elements and characters but it shouldn’t be homework. It should be explainable and accessible in the show without having to go back and watch a bunch of decades old episodes which I feel where the show is now. Back in 2005 you didn’t need to know about evil of the daleks to know who the emperor was so it can be done.
It really does disappoint me writing this. I did enjoy a lot of things of the current series just the finale is such a narrative continuity mess again it retroactively messed a lot of the good will of the season up I feel.
As for this box set. I’ll get it on a discount. There seems very little exclusive bonus to this set outside of a commentary and 2 scene breakdowns. Everything else is either on the joy to the world release, I player or YouTube. There is far more wanting releases on my list coming out and up for pre order over the next few months
Prowl 1701
June 14th, 2025 - 1:19amI do really like the art work on the steelbook, main reason I want it. Though the back art is mirrored/reversed in the picture used here (the clock numbers are backwards.
booboo
June 14th, 2025 - 10:19amcorrected that now, strange how all the retail images have the reversed image
James
June 14th, 2025 - 12:31pmIt would have been better to have left on a cliffhanger with the regeneration starting, 15 goes completely glowing with regeneration as it was then the doors close, zoom out as see the tardis light up and cuts to credits “The Doctor will return”
Bookcollector
May 24th, 2025 - 1:43pmI’m normally very positive about new who but I have to admit I’m struggling with this series. I’ve ordered it but I’m not even sure I’ll go through with buying it. I feel sad about it and I enjoyed the last series after a shaky start but this one is harder work. As it may be the last series I’ll probably get it. I hope if it continues Russell rethinks the whole gods thing. Oh and if you wre enjoying the series that’s absolutely fine with me.
Bookcollector
May 25th, 2025 - 10:30amI think on reflection I will get the series. I hope I’ll enjoy it more on a rewatch.
Gordon
May 25th, 2025 - 10:31amI’ve enjoyed it on the most part. First 5 eps I was thrilled with it. Last 2 weeks I’ve enjoyed watching them but script wise I thought needed a lot more work. Last nights ep especially was a mess for casual audiences I feel. Don’t want to be negative but I do feel that It’s maybe time for Russell to go after he does s3 and 4 to wrap up his gods arc or at least take a step back from scripting.
Bookcollector
May 25th, 2025 - 11:18amThat’s how I feel Gordon. There are elements of the episodes I liked. But I think the scripts and stories need work, saving all of the audience in the song contest just felt like a let down. I do feel as well a return to story ofvtge week with no links would be better. You can still have a spectacular finale to a series but it doesn’t need to linked through an entire doctor’s era. Just tell a good story. I probably will enjoy these more when I watch them again but as strange as it may seem I do think a hiatus might not be a bad thing. Bringing in more writers and lower the story arcs would be a start.
Bookcollector
May 25th, 2025 - 11:20amStory of the week! That’s what happens when you type without your reading glasses
Prof Horner
May 25th, 2025 - 11:34amWell it’s interesting that Paul Mount in his video of last night’s episode, likened the the situation to the late eighties. Back then the series was held in open comtept by the BBC. Which is not the case now. But just as the last two series of the eighties was better than the pervious few ,this recent series has been the best series in years it is probably too late. I think the series would benefit from a good rest and rethink. Let’s hope the series goes out on a high . What is good is we can have a balanced debate on this site.
Gordon
May 26th, 2025 - 6:35amLet’s no forget it’s BBC’s biggest money spinner by a large margin. I don’t think any rest will happen until that no longer becomes the case.
Honestly I don’t think resting is the answer. There is no guarantee of a comeback in 5 or so years or if anybody will want to do it then. Even then there is no guarantee it will be a success. 2005 who it was very extremely lucky that it was the success it was. If it wasn’t a success do we rest it again? If rtd does the next 2 seasons like i’m expecting him to it will take him up to 65. Pretty much seems about the right age to pop off and retire.
As for who is next I’d like to see Pete mctighe give it a go without rtd and chibnell being in charge. His collection trailers have been brilliant and lucky day was great I thought. I can’t help but feel war between is essentially his big test to see if he can handle the job. He’s by far had the most showrunner experience of the 4 guest writers this season.
I know some have said JMS as he’s now in the uk but as much as i like b5 he’d be near enough in his mid 70s by the time his first ep made air.
I don’t think it’s gonna be Mark Gattis or Toby Whitehouse or any of those names from about a decade ago that were name dropped as potential show runners. Personally if those were wanted to run who would have gottten it by now
Bookcollector
May 26th, 2025 - 9:58amWhen I say a rest I mean a short one, reports say it may be 2027 before a new series could be in the can and that is the break I mean. Just a chance to rethink the approach. I do think Russell should step back and let someone else take over. Pete Mctighe is a decent shout Gordon.
Gordon
May 26th, 2025 - 10:17amI wouldn’t even call it a rest if it was 2027. Considering they are still at the script stage for the next season and If they got everything ready to start filming this November/december it wouldn’t be ready until early 2027 regardless. At the absolute latest they would have to start for a 2027 release would be round about this time next year if they wanted it in the autumn
Prof Horner
May 26th, 2025 - 12:32pmWell it’s a far cry from the days when the last episode of The War Games eas recorded just over a week before transmission.
Bookcollector
May 26th, 2025 - 3:45pmTo be honest Gordon I do feel a proper break may be in order, time to rethink the direction of the show but until Daviies relinquishes the reins I don’t think we will see any major change.
Rory
May 27th, 2025 - 9:39amThe article I read about the BBC continuing mentioned RTD being contracted for five years. Assuming that they mean five seasons, he’d still have another two to deliver so it doesn’t look like he’s going anywhere until after 2028.
I agree with others here, that RTD could stand to step back a bit from scripting and have more episodes written by others, so that he can focus more on polishing the scripts that come in.
Babelbro
May 24th, 2025 - 6:34amI find it unusual how these Disney Who Seasons aren’t being released in 4K HDR considering that is what they are offering via streaming.
Personally I would be perfectly happy for Doctor Who to return to HD SDR – I’d love to see grading reassemble ‘The Empty Child’. Something harsher, gritty, grounded, sketchy.
Richard
May 17th, 2025 - 1:52pmI really hope Ncuti does a third and fourth season.
Missyrules
May 17th, 2025 - 2:05pmI think it’s looking more and more unlikely. Especially with the news that a new series will be made with or without disney but be in 2027. Can’t see ncuti wanting to lose potential work if he is still linked to who. I’d like a third series from him but we will see what happens in the finale. I suspect a regeneration.
James
May 17th, 2025 - 9:06pm**** returns for finale. 2 ****** vs 2 ******. Then 15 regenerates. Leaving a cliffhanger with 16 being revealed xmas 2025. Still time to film a Christmas special for this year. If not definitely 2026 Christmas Special Doc 16 story. Happened when 9 regenerated into 10, his forst story was Christmas special.
Gordon
May 17th, 2025 - 11:29pmIf he did he’d pretty much be tied to the show till 2028 including promotion and considering how in demand I hear he has become it’s not too much of a surprise if he has chosen to go. No matter how much he loves doing it some of those offers will be tempting and may not be around in 3 years.
Rumour has it they have their 16th doctor. I have heard who they supposedly have but am not naming any names.
What people forget to realise post production is far more time consuming than it used to be. It’s possible we might get something for Christmas but the turn around time will be very tight and they need to ideally be starting now or by the end of July/august by the latest
Missyrules
May 18th, 2025 - 12:57amDon’t think there will be a Christmas special 2025, I hope there is but if the series is being talked about for 2027 then I think 2026 christmas special will be the next episode after reality war.
James
May 18th, 2025 - 1:24pmIf no Christmas special 2025 will, the War Between the Land and the Sea spin-off be pushed back to spring 2026 to fill a gap in Doctor Who slots? RTD said they’d be no gaps when he returned so this would make sense.
Then a Christmas special for 2026 for Doc 16 full episode filmed early 2026 along side season 3 for transmission spring 2027.
Maybe get a minisode for Christmas 2025 similar to Pudseys Cutaway minisode we got between Parting of the Ways finale and The Christmas Invasion.
Only thing I’m confused about if the fourth wall barrier Mrs Flood did a couple of times.
RTD today has said about the Unholy Trinity which is Conrad, *****, but mrs Flood doesn’t count and another character will be in the finale. Moneys on a new ******** (from the tooth).
Plus does this also mean the Meeps boss is Mrs Flood/*****?
MDS
May 18th, 2025 - 2:13pmIf the next season is delayed could a change in transmission dates be considered. The low ratings for season 2 shows the programme suffers by being released early on I-Player. If the weather is nice as has been the case this year why watch in the evening when you can watch anytime.
if the series could be broadcast between January and March with no early I-Player release it would become appointment TV again. Also how much better would “The Well” have been if it was dark outside instead of bright sunshine coming through the windows.
The Pertwee years (mainly the early stories) and the Peter Davison seasons got good early viewing figures when broadcast in the early months. If Disney stayed onboard for the world distribution each episode could be a worldwide release just without the cinema showings which seems to be the plan for this seasons finale,
We would then get a Christmas Day Special followed by a New Years Day start of season and a further 7 episodes to follow. Merchandise could then be planned for a February release.
Lot of what ifs but who knows. If we don’t suggest things then they are not heard. At the end of the day this is just my opinion.
Rory
May 19th, 2025 - 10:03amMDS, I suspect the BBC don’t care too much if people are viewing it on iPlayer or on broadcast, as they’re getting the viewers either way.
The DR.
May 23rd, 2025 - 4:37pmRichard, On the Front page of the Sun Newspaper Today, the Main News is Dr who is Cancelled And the 15 th Doctor has been Sacked. (It doesn’t say he Quit of didn’t want to do anymore Storys, it just says he was Sacked)?

May 24th, 2025 - 1:39pmThe sun of course is well known for never publishing anything that isn’t true… take it with a pinch of salt.
Gordon
May 25th, 2025 - 10:21amI would like it pointed out it’s the same sun reporter that posted an article 2 months ago that said he quit and the already shot the regeneration. It can’t be both. Quitting is far more likely of the 2. The bbc have went on to vehemently deny he’s been axed.
The sun tried to say him stepping away from Eurovision at the last minute was the last straw for bbc bosses and the ending will be reshot but considering you would need to write schedule shooting and do all the post production on it in the space of 2 weeks that is extremely unlikely
Owen
June 13th, 2025 - 2:00pmNo thanks glad he’s gone
The DR.
June 15th, 2025 - 12:41pmI don’t know Gordon, it all seemed very Strange to me. One minute the 15th Doctor planned on doing the Regular 3 Seasons and there was Definitely No Regeneration at the End of Season Two to prove this. Then I’ve seen Storys that there was a Chunk of Story (20 Minutes) added at the last Minute to the Last episode to show his Regeneration.
What’s all that about?
To me it looks like the BBC couldn’t wait to have him gone.
Obviously I don’t know if it’s True.
But it’s Not Great PR from the BBC, Because to the Casual Viewer (me) that’s what they’ve made it look like.

April 11th, 2025 - 9:40am@atl, I always hold off on the specials until the season boxset is released, then if a special is not included I’ll just go back and pick it up. They’re not limited edition, so no need to buy them on release.

March 28th, 2025 - 5:08pmBtw encase anyone’s wondering, Amazon’s listing says it includes Joy to the World.
Moodbeam
March 28th, 2025 - 11:29amThe pricing of these is starting to get out of hand. We get far fewer episodes but pay much more. And where is Joy to the World? Do they really expect us to have a regular blu-ray in the middle of the collection? Urgh, I get more disappointed each year.
At least the animations and the Collection sets are still good value.
Rory
March 28th, 2025 - 1:13pmIt will join Twice Upon a Time and Revolution of the Daleks in sticking out like a sore thumb in my complete set of new series steelbooks.
Moodbeam
March 28th, 2025 - 2:12pmI stuck the discs into what seemed like the relevant series either side. Would rather not have to do the same again here, they know this is a common complaint with every new series and many times in the past they’ve reversed it and added it on. Not convinced this time though.
Amypondfan
March 28th, 2025 - 2:19pmFor people complaining about the price of £59.99 please remember that the retail for this is £89.99 which is what it is being sold for by some shops. The average film release for bluray is £14.99-17.99 for a single release so potentially 6-7 discs again for £59.99 is still good value.

March 28th, 2025 - 3:13pmMJ the retail prices are higher than Amazon sells at. So on galaxy 4 website the season 7 bluray is listed as
Doctor Who The Collection Season 7 (Limited Edition Blu-Ray)
Regular Price
£84.99
Sale Price
£69.99
Retail prices are regularly higher than most shops sell for

March 28th, 2025 - 4:26pmMJ the recommended retail price of the season 7 bluray is £89.99 but hardly anyone sells it at that. It’s the same for this.

March 28th, 2025 - 7:17pmIt’s the same price as the season one steelbook last year. If you think it’s too expensive wait. I’m sure it will go down in price at some point.
