I came up with an idea to solve the problem of which doctor to represent on the box of season 4. I would put Troughton holding the mirror with the Hartnell reflection that appears in Power of the daleks.

Well if season 14 is out in April, but account for a possible delay to may, an announcement of another box set (possibly season 20) could either be late march/early April or may (depending if season 14 is released on time)

So with the re-release of Season 12 and the upcoming release of Season 14, does anyone have a particular season they’d like to released next in the Collection blu-rays? My first choices would be season 11, with cgi effects for ‘Invasion of the Dinosaurs’, and season 25, with the extended version of ‘Silver Nemesis’.

Personally would like season 20 I missed season 12 box set (pre ordered now thank god) because I didn’t know about the sets until it was too late I got season 19 which makes the 5th doctor my first classic doctor and first classic season I’ve ever watched and I would like to continue to see what happens to Tegan (don’t want to watch online or see spoilers want to wait for the box set and it’s my first experience with classic who) but yeah season 20 would be my go to for a next box set

    • philip Shaw

      February 7th, 2020 - 8:44am

It would certainly be a sin if they don’t offer cgi dinosaurs on this release as they don’t appear that much. Just replacing the T rex would be good…

    • Gordon

      February 7th, 2020 - 9:21am

Getting episode 1 into the best possible colour is probably a bigger priority. That won’t be cheap. Doubt the budget would stretch to both. There is over 100 shots that would need replacing with cgi. Not sure if the budget would stretch that far.

Regarding what sets I want to see next. Any seasons that have stories that don’t have making ofs

    • Anonymous

      February 8th, 2020 - 4:06pm

Yes, but it would be criminal not to colourise and cg the episode. This is the last and definitive time the stories are ever gonna get collectors edition. I know I am complaining but honestly after a wasted dvd release this is the final chance they have to make this episode. I won’t be happy if they don’t.

    • philip shaw

      February 10th, 2020 - 12:48pm

They managed a colourised episode and effects extra planet of the daleks…

    • Anonymous

      February 10th, 2020 - 3:30pm

Planet of the Daleks was already in decent shape though, Invasion is not.

    • MIKSK89

      February 11th, 2020 - 4:19am

Plus “Planet of the Daleks” Re-colouring wasn’t done exclusively for the Blu-Ray, only the cgi was done for the Collection’s 10th Season, it was already re-colourised for the ‘Dalek War’ DVD boxset of that story and Frontier in Space back in 2009.

“Invasion of the Dinosaurs” was given a partial Re-colouring (though it was rushed and was very poor quality) for the 2012 ‘U.N.I.T. Files’ and it wasnt even the part of the overall story, it was released as an extra as more a taster to show the progress they had made.

    • Gordon

      February 11th, 2020 - 7:14am

Planet of the Daleks and invasion of the dinosaurs aren’t really comparable. For starters episode 3 of Daleks is the best colour recovered episode and dinos 1 is by far the worst. It’s going to need a lot more time and money thrown at it. Secondly the effects in Daleks was far more easier and cheaper to do than it would be for dinosaurs and it’s way less than half the shots that dinos would require. Plus there are a fair few shots where the dinos interact with humans but the effects in Daleks didn’t. The cost of doing dinos was quoted as 6 times the budget of a normal dvd release a few years back. I’m not sure it’s doable

    Hi everyone.

Quick question for those who have had previous Seasons delivered by Amazon.

What sort of packaging do they use and has anyone had theirs arrive dinted/corners creased/damaged.

I usually order from Zoom but as I had a few vouchers have gone to Amazon.

    Thanks in advance

I have had that issue with these sets whoever I order from. Zavvi are usually the worst for packaging. Zoom and amazon are usually pretty good but I have had some issues with both. Zoom did offer a partial refund last time it happened but I would have preferred a non damaged box. Since complaining later boxes have been received in better packaging. Amazon are usually on a par with zoom in my experience.

      February 6th, 2020 - 8:31pm

Amazon usually use a cardboard type package which has been designed to be easily opened and (so far) I’ve not experienced any damaged items whatsover.

    • Rob W

      February 7th, 2020 - 8:57am

One of those Jiffy bags with the easy yo tear opening? I’d leave Amazon feedback about the packaging as the cardboard can be easily recycled.

    • MudkipDan

      February 7th, 2020 - 2:13pm

Just preordered on Amazon. It’s the first part of ‘the collection’ I’ve bought. Will definitely pick up the others now but I will never be able to afford Seasons 19, 18 and 10 so I really hope we get rereleases of them too. But I’m guessing that’s unlikely?

    • Ricky

      February 6th, 2020 - 11:16am

I’m certain the others won’t be re issued as they are also limited edition packaging , but they were printed in larger numbers , season 12 was a kind of test the water set, they underestimated how well they would sell, after this sold out fast they upped the number on future collections.
All they have done here is match the number of units to the other releases to even it out.
But these are limited editions and when they are gone they are gone.
What this reissue will do is stabilise the value of season 12 on eBay and bring the asking prices down to around the other sets.
