I fear the Missing Ep announcement has come very near 628 print date, BUT I really hope that the Editor has the courage and boldness to bump the planned cover and lead feature, and makes those the Missing Ep Recovery. My concept for the cover would be a background of the Hartnell title sequence, the found film can in the centre, surrounded by images of 1st Doc, Bret Vyon, Steven & Katarina and of course Daleks! I’d love interviews with the Film is Fabulous team, timelines of missing episode recovery, and features on Daleks Master Plan itself! Moments like this are so rare, but could be so impactful in proving DWM’s relevance in a world of declining print journalism. Fingers crossed they ‘fast-respond’ to this momentous occasion!

This world has gone nutts in my opinion how is it illegal over one thing like everyone is now having too be told what too do i never experience anyone complaining at me too put a mageize down on a shop kids read books now days still i seen in book shops its like this country clearly doesn’t care

    • Bookcollector

      March 9th, 2026 - 2:03pm

I didn’t say it was illegal. It’s frowned upon as bad manners or it was. I have seen people asked to leave wh s as it was then. Most shop workers i know wont challenge people now due to their own safety as they have no idea how they will be treated. As I said, if you read without purchasing then it very obviously affects the sales.

@book collector i was not firing this at u but only one individual complaining at me about it from my first comment i didnt even state it as people have too do it i said if they was complaining about the price as a suggestion i dont even stand around myself all day reading a magazine in supermarkets or even tgi jones i only ever if honest look though it at more the new seasons and steelbook that get announced especially lets face it no one even hardly buys them the amount off times i visit stores and theres always loads off stock including the limited ones they bring out i especially dont even have these local too me either where im living so only time i have read a magazine in a shop is when away or even at my parents and even then that dont even happen often

      March 9th, 2026 - 2:42pm

I had no idea what you were taking Tom, until your last post. There used to be a time when I would spend hours in the likes of Waterstones and the like reading the books. Now a days I rarely buy DWM , just the specials . So I tend to have a quick in the least issue in TGJones. Mainly to see who has died like Colin Bell who I thought died years ago! Keep the comments coming guys.

every few months its £10.99 when it has something at least it has a supplement this time not just a few art cards

    • Amypondfan

      March 6th, 2026 - 4:29pm

It’s not going to be £10.99 every month!

    • Peter

      March 7th, 2026 - 12:18pm

At one point it surely will hit £10.99 a month permanently, as prices just continue to rise. That’s life!

    • Missyrules

      March 7th, 2026 - 1:10pm

Exactly Peter, costs are going up again due to the world leaders being ejits and those costs will filter down. People can’t seem to accept things don’t cost the same as they did (insert personal relevant years) when they were nippers!

    • Alex

      March 7th, 2026 - 7:02pm

Life or not I still wouldn’t pay that price for a magazine neither would a lot of other people!

    • Missyrules

      March 7th, 2026 - 8:05pm

And you dont have to Alex, no one is making you pay that price. If it’s too expensive for you then you dont have to buy it.

    • Rex F

      March 7th, 2026 - 9:20pm

When is too many people going “pass” going to shutter the magazine though?

    • Missyrules

      March 7th, 2026 - 9:43pm

Rex, unfortunately this is the commercial world. At some point the magazine (and all magazines and merchandise, not just who but everything) become expensive to produce and therefore the price becomes too high for customers to pay. That leads to the cancellation of the magazine. It’s just economics. That’s the cold brutality of economics. If people can’t afford it, it can’t be produced. Considering the uncertainty around the world due to yet another war impacting on global markets prices will rise. There is nothing we can do but pay or stop buying. Blame the blinkered money focused political leaders (no names but guess which one!) they are causing unrest in a region that ultimately impacts financially on us all. Those with their fingers in the money making game will get richer. Us? We’ll just continue to get poorer. It won’t be the magazines fault or desire to increase prices in future. But we have to understand the fundamental principles behind why they will have to. All merchandise will be affected. Toys will cost more to manufacture and ship. Books as well. The TV show will see increased production costs and they are already struggling to find the budget for the show. Its depressing but its unfortunately life too.

So 10.99 for a magazine ? U ever seen h now there website is worse 74.99 for season 2 Steel-book com-paired too when it came out it was 59.99 and people complained prices are soaring look at oil for instance currently and even diesel

    • Tom Williams

      March 8th, 2026 - 8:55pm

Plus theres a way how i always read the magazine in the shop ie tgjones and never pay now days if the prices are that bad only times i ever buy them is if its included the book they cant stop u from at least reading it

    • James

      March 8th, 2026 - 10:06pm

      People moan about pricing.
2 reasons. 1 is price of everything is up (paper, ink, people, printing, distribution). This is then reflected by increasing the price of magazines/newspapers. Dwm used to be £3.99 20 years ago. Radio times 99p, What’s on TV 45p, sun 50p, mirror 45p. NOW radio times £4.50, What’s on TV 89p, sun £1.10, mirror £1.20.
And 2 is sales. Less people buying printed media as it’s all online. Also doesn’t help people use shops like whs/tg as a library. Yes you save money by just standing and reading but the store loses money as not making sales aswell as the publisher not recouping costs from sales. This also reflects in increase on price due to less market. Less people buying means the people who do have to brunt the cost.

When I worked for whs we would get 200 mail on a Saturday and sell out, 120 of each TV listings, DWM 20, celeb weeklies 20, older weeklies 30-40. Before my store closed it was down to 30 mail, 30 TV, 5 DWM, 10 celeb/older. Loads of publication have ceased over the past years. Independent went to online only.
Supermarkets also have shrunk their magazine displays by half/some more. Shops don’t make much on news sales as it’s a low margin. 20ish percent. So for every £7.99 the store will get £1.60 which in the grand scheme isn’t alot.

Quick research dwm sold 67000 copies during 2013. Not including the 50000 for the 50th special which had to be reprinted. Whereas only 6 years later in 2019 it dropped to 16000.

I wouldn’t be surprised if DWM goes to bimonthly within next few years. Then stick to a £10 RRP.

    • Tom Williams

      March 8th, 2026 - 10:22pm

That dont make any sense ? So u say having magenizes in a library as well doesn’t help then ? If people keep complaining its not hurting any business if people read magazines in shops either its not like now days u can go too a library itself and even find a dr who magazine sitting there for anyone too borrow or read if people moan about prices hows it even making sense ?

    • James

      March 9th, 2026 - 12:18am

      Tom Williams
Read the comment. I said it doesn’t help when people use shops like whs/tg as a library. Just go in and read magazines cover to over and not make the purchase instead. It does hurt a business as your not making a purchase. It be like going to the cinema and not laying to watch the film.

Might aswell just make him the next primster this rate as cleary no one is allowed freedom anymore

    • Bookcollector

      March 9th, 2026 - 9:34am

Tom, if you read the magazine in a shop and don’t pay then the magazine gets nothing in revenue. It’s the same principle as people illegally downloading films or music. They get it free. But the makers of those items get nothing. If enough people stop paying for any item then the makers of that item will stop making it. Why should they if no one is willing to pay for reading/watching or listening to it? Now I’d like to to say I’m not having a go at you Tom but please understand that if people don’t pay the magazine will eventually fold. Some is people stopping buying the magazine, I only buy certain ones. I never read it in the shops as many shops consider this to be poor behaviour and can ask a person to leave. I have witnessed this in the past. Basically Tom you have said something that directly effects the sales and future of the magazine (read it for free in the shops) so naturally people are going to comment Tom.

It seems DWM have finally stopped referring to the the first 3 1960s TV adventures by fandom’s hardcore chosen titles of years ago. “The Daleks” is finally referred to as such (with “originally entitled The Mutants” added in brackets). Finally.

My question is, is the destination daleks comic complete or are we going to have to buy other magazines. I remember the monstrous beauty story and being annoyed that the first part was a separate booklet and the rest were part of the actual magazines. I hope this is a complete story in one volume. Only going to buy the magazine next month for this story.

Guessing it’s a supplement so complete in one magazine. Not like the Daleks one they did for Doc14 where they did DWM for 11 issues then printed a full graphic novel book after. (Liberation of the Daleks)

    • RockerFella

      March 6th, 2026 - 1:37pm

      @james – we know

But it struggles at £7.99 and as you have to pay £3 to see how the free trailer story ends it also breaks the BBC Royal Charter unless its going to be free via BBC website at a later date.

    • Missyrules

      March 6th, 2026 - 1:55pm

Doesn’t break the charter at all. The minisode is not part of the BBC free to tv. It’s produced by the commercial arm which is not part of the charter.

    • Bookcollector

      March 7th, 2026 - 10:21am

Neither of these items (the minisode or the comic) are made by the BBC themselves. Nor are the BBC telling you in any way to buy them. These are not being advertised on TV by the BBC saying you have to buy the comic to follow the completely free trailer that was released free on YouTube. This does not break the charter in any way. If you want this for nothing good luck. This comic cost money to make. The writer has to be paid, the artists, the colourisers, the layout designers, the printers, the distributors etc. Be grateful it exists, there was no obligation to carry it on.

    • COMICshopsDontStand

      March 8th, 2026 - 9:36am

Lot of people in here appeAr to live in their own little world and would pay £80 per issue and come up with some excuse to justify it.

    • Bookcollector

      March 8th, 2026 - 10:53am

Er, no we wouldn’t pay £80 an issue. There’s a world of difference between three pounds extra and seventy-two pounds. And yes, I get you are deliberately being silly but most people won’t pay extortionate prices. I’m paying the £10.99 for this issue. But i only buy when there is a book or in this case a comic book in the magazine. So in the the last three years (including this year) I’ve bought three magazines. You can’t expect the magazine to miraculously stay the same price as it was twenty years ago. Everything costs more now.

    • MJS

      March 9th, 2026 - 4:34pm

@rockerfeller it’s not breaking the charter. Remember the first 14th Doctor adventure, officially, was the Dalek comic strip in the magazine.
