How about next issue be all about The Shalka Doctor. And what might have been. Horribly underrated adventure! One of the coolest Tardis interiors and Grants deliveries on lines full of Snobbish Sarcasm are fantastic as The 9th doctor would say. Great Companion, great Actors all around. The Master is Technically twice the Master of any previous Master ( I’ll let you think that over) and the Shalka creatures Need, Need, Need to make an appearance on the live show. How cool would it be if the next Doctor traveled to a parallel Universe Where This Version of the 9th doctor existed?

I’ve been buying this magazine since issue 1 and have had a subscription since the shows return in 2005. I have just cancelled my subscription as, like others have said, the content is either stuff I already know or that I simply don’t care about (yes the cosplay section is something I really don’t care about). It’s just not worth the price anymore.

The biggest selling point, perhaps, is that it says “LONDON, 1965!” on the cover. Tis such things as dreams are made of!

The cover feature looks good, too. Good job there.

And, you know what? Cosplay is meant to be fun. Doctor Who is meant to be fun. And reading DWM is meant to be fun. It’s an obvious relationship, really, so having a cosplay column fundamentally makes sense, in the pursuit of fun!

Between the airing of each episode there is a break (some non-subscribers get an ad break instead) and it asks a couple of Who trivia questions and airs a ‘trailer’ (a repeated loop of a few short clips with some Who music in the background) for the current Doctor.
For the first Doctor it included Ian saying “Barbara, we made it! London 1965!” which the twitch chat gleefully kept quoting each time it came around.

Putting the dreaded word ‘Cosplay’ on the front again just takes away any creditability from an otherwise excellent cover. We’re not all 12 you know!

I want them to have their yearly survey to see what readers actually like but with the backlash to a few things i doubt they will

I don’t mind people dressing as their favourite characters, it’s just the word I object to. Why not put ‘inspired costume designs’ or something like that that just doesn’t sound too dumbed down.

The magazine as it is now is not for me. I was thinking why not try someting like an article involving taking say a classic series or even new series who story particulary some of the least liked stories and getting opinion on how those stories could /should have been made with better production, less time restraint and better alternative dialogue. With contributions from the people behind the new and old series. They could have pictures showing alternative designs for some of the sets. Also as an alternative to this Time Team why not get surviving doctors, companions or even TV celebrity fans etc giving their verdict on other doctors stories. I just wish they had kept the other ‘Time Team to stick it out to the end of Matt Smiths Era and i miss the Wotcha article at the back.

Like most magazines i have ever bought, I like some articles better than others. if you don’t like the cosplay pages, read some other pages. Get over it, everyone. The magazine has to change in order to survive.

the last few issues i must have read less than a third of the content. Why,ll i,m sure it might appeal to new younger readers, theres not a lot in to make me want to shell out every month thats of much interest. I may be piqued when news from the new series starts filtering through with regards to casting, episode info and those mag interviews.

They had to stop the old Time Team for a few issues as they’d have caught up with the show and it’s such a shame they did as they could have at least finished Matts

This is on sale this week (Thu 28th June) so it’s unlikely to reveal whatever they are going to show at July’s SDCC, or the broadcast date if the rumours of October are true. That’s something the BBC usually keep close to their chest til a bit nearer the time than we are yet.
