Doctor Who Fugitive Doctor and Tardis Collector Figure Set

Online Exclusive announced by Character Options

Character Options is excited and delighted to announce that, for the first time, the Fugitive will join her esteemed other incarnations with her own figure set in this latest Online exclusive Doctor Who Figure set.

Inspired by the Doctor Who episode entitled “Fugitive Of The Judoon”, Character Options is proud to present this figure of the mysterious Fugitive Doctor along with her very own TARDIS! Both are presented in this specially designed 60th Anniversary window packaging, which has been designed to wow even before it’s opened.

Set Contents at 5.5 Inch Scale:

  • 1 x Fugitive Doctor Figure.
  • 1 x Division Blaster Accessory
  • 1 x TARDIS with opening doors

This incarnation of the Doctor is shrouded in mystery. The Thirteenth Doctor first met the Fugitive Doctor (played by Jo Martin) when she was hiding out as ‘Ruth Clayton’, a tour guide living in Gloucester. Using a Chameleon Arch, she’d re-written her DNA to appear human and buried her TARDIS below ground where it could never be found. She was hiding from her former employer, a mysterious Time Lord agency called ‘The Division’, who had hired the Judoon to track her down. With the arrival of the Judoon and Thirteenth Doctor, the Fugitive Doctor’s secret couldn’t be kept for much longer.

Ruth flees with the Thirteenth Doctor to a lighthouse she remembered as a child, but what they discover there only deepens the mystery. Sensing something familiar, the Thirteenth Doctor discovers her own TARDIS from the long past, and when Ruth breaks the fire alarm within the lighthouse it triggers a reversal of the Chameleon Arch. Instantly the Doctor once more, she teleports herself and the Thirteenth Doctor into her TARDIS and takes off to confront the ‘Division’. The Thirteenth Doctor is hugely disturbed by the fact she cannot remember being this incarnation but recognises the truth that she undeniably had been. Now free, this no longer fugitive Doctor leaves for further adventures and would go on to meet her Thirteenth self a handful of times, as a projection of the Matrix, and then again as a holograph.

The full story of the Fugitive Doctor remains undisclosed and only time will reveal the full truth… as it always does.

Al Dewar, Creative Director, commented:

“Well, it’s finally out there! And safe to say this is one of the most special Doctors I’ve ever worked on. It’s been under wraps for well over a year and a half which helped keep the secret. Jo Martin, who was utterly delightful to work with when creating this set and we also give her rather lovely TARDIS a wee overhaul as well, with the original flat roof being replaced by a slightly angled one, with replacement lamp and nice little undercuts between the roof pillars. There is also one neat little easter egg in the pack we hope collectors enjoy. All in all, this is a truly great set.”

The online exclusive costs £39.99 and will include postage to UK addresses.

Beautiful paint job, attention to detail is astonishing. Her blaster is a work of wonder alone.

My Fugitive Doctor arrived this morning. But annoyingly the cheapskates Character have just shipped it in a cardboard box with no space for packaging inside – so the nice transit dent in the outer box had gone straight through and dented the toy’s box. Bah. Oh well, at least I have one…

I so regret not getting one when I was trying to when Flux was airing and they were dirt cheap, like £19 on average (But It Now), because I thought I could get one cheaper lol. It’s up there with my biggest ‘not getting’ mistakes including in 2020 when I could’ve got the Time Of The Doctor Set for £19.99 or last year when I could’ve gotten the Capaldi TARDIS for £50.

Its not been pulled. They have said in the Big Finish podcast that it is still in production and they will announce more info when the BBC give the go ahead.

    • Alan Silvester

      January 24th, 2024 - 4:26pm

Wish that Big Finish would put information like this on their website. Not everyone has the ability or time to listen to podcasts. They announced the Fugitive Doctor series over 18 months ago, and would still have my money if I hadn’t cancelled the order after waiting a year. This, along with the other still ongoing fiasco that I’ve given up on ever seeing completed, has sadly put me off BF going forward.

    • Whofan44

      January 24th, 2024 - 5:17pm

I feel it would be very tricky for them to word without it sounding like they are blaming the BBC who they very much need to keep happy. I also don’t blame Big Finish for the CD delays for Once and Future as that is the fault of there supplier letting them and constantly messing Big Finish around.

    • Banquo

      January 24th, 2024 - 11:31pm

Thanks Whofan44, I’ve not heard the podcast of the delay, all I saw was the date disappear on the BF pre-order, I’m just glad it’s still going ahead.

I ordered mine not so long ago, but echo what others have said re the website. It didn’t recognise my password so I had to request a new one, then when going into my account it was saying ‘invalid address’ despite my having saved details on previous orders. I did receive a confirmation email, despite it freezing up on the order confirmation page. It is frustrating, no wonder it puts people off. A nice set, but difficult to see me ordering much online from Character again. Unless they do a Eye of Orion Fifth Doctor & Companions set!

I had similar issues with their site. I ended up just ordering under ” guest” and refilled in my particulars. It accepted it that way. They really do need some overhauls on their system. But…I have one on the way. Now…if we could just get more items going on a regular basis. That would a collector’s dream once again. Here’s hoping Doctor Who returns to glory days.

Yeah, plus the Regeneration Set only sold out last month or so and that featured the 14th Doctor, which I’d have thought would’ve been more desired than the Fugitive Doctor. I could be totally wrong of course, but the relatively high price combined with the fact that it’s been suggested that the Fugitive Doctor is going to be released separately anyway, plus the fact that they’re limiting it to 2 per person (which I point out because the Regeneration Set had no such limitation, at least initially, and still took over a year to sell out) suggests to me that these will probably be around for a while. Unless I’ve severely underestimated the appeal of her TARDIS… I’m a massive fan of the 2nd Doctor lamp and even I’m not decided on whether to get this set yet.

I certainly hope there is more Who product coming. If there isn’t…that could be a bad sign. Interest in Who , here in the States, has really dropped off, from what I can see. Comic shops that used to always have Who figures, are pretty hard to find now. A good many of the owners tell me, they need the wall space for items that actually sell. And I do not know of any major retailers that carry Who figures. Even Walmart and Target only have the odd DVD sets in the brick and mortar stores. I always hope for the best, with Doctor Who. I hope it picks up again.

The toy market is definitely changing. Look at how few characters from the last Star Wars movie became an action figure (even main ones) – and it wasn’t because of the reaction to the movie, because they were prepared before release. You’d never imagine it just two or three years earlier.

    • Bobby Davros

      January 23rd, 2024 - 7:28pm

It was because of the reaction to the PREVIOUS movie.

    • Bob James

      January 23rd, 2024 - 10:51pm

Who figure collectors in the US have as a market, shrunk, but we’re still out there. We know where to find them (and usually, lately, gotten mugged with inflated prices sometimes), and with a finger on the pulse of the market and with the right choices of releases on CO’s part, we’ll be buying.

    • Rex F

      January 24th, 2024 - 12:33am

Bobby: The damage was that bad? Wow… (I’ve still not seen it myself. But then, maybe that’s also a sign that the reaction wasn’t exactly great.)

    • Moodbeam

      January 24th, 2024 - 1:53pm

I think a lot of the problem Star Wars has is it’s over exposure since Disney started pumping new content on a constant stream. The merchandise market has become far too saturated with SW merch and this has been going on for the better part of a decade now. If anything I’m surprised that they still produce what they do for it as there is so much and a lot of it ends up in clearance sales because they just can’t shift it. Can you have too much of a good thing? Apparently so.

I don’t think we face the same problem, Who merchandise has been pretty scarce the last few years and a lot of it is online only, it’s a long time since physical stores had stock and displays for Who so hopefully we’ll see some renewed interest this year.

    • NickD

      January 25th, 2024 - 5:20am

DW has struggled for years. The fan base isn’t as interested in action figures than they once were. Not helped by CO changing scales then releasing little product to promote the series. It’s unlikely to become a hit like Star Trek or Star Wars with figures.

    • The Outcast

      January 25th, 2024 - 7:30am

Star Trek hasn’t exactly been a hit with figures either.

I don’t expect the figure line to ever reach Star Wars levels, or even 2008 levels, but I do think things can improve significantly from where they currently are, and this recent Toy Fair is a step in a positive direction, hopefully the retailers are convinced.

  • Eric the Dalek

    January 23rd, 2024 - 11:55am

Anyone know why , in the video with the toy, Jo Martin said what she did ? The bit about, ” Nobody can take this away from me.” Why say that? I’m not a fan of the Chibnall era, but does she get guff for just having played the Fugitive Doctor? That was strangely sad, to me. Any ideas ?
