I think 3.75 inch figures are really good. Madame vastra and strax would be good figures for wave 2

do the FX talking daleks have batteries or do you need to buy them separately?

    Reply
    • DOCTOR WHO ONE

      January 23rd, 2013 - 4:24pm

Batteries are included. The packaging has a hole made into it so you can press the bottom to activate the sounds on the figures. Sometimes it won’t work cos the button has been pressed so many times the batteries run out of juice, so you end up with a Dalek still inside it’s packaging with a dead battery, it’s happened to some Ive seen in Forbidden Planet in London.

You mean the 3.75 Flight Control Tardis ?. I should image it does have sound and light features like the proper 5inch version.

    • drjakeyoung

      January 23rd, 2013 - 4:43pm

yea that’s the one i meant. Should imagine it has the sound FX, it would be very cheap of them if they didn’t have them added in.

I just loke the chase gaurd dalek. it looks like a drone from dr who and the daleks. the 3.75 figures are gonna be rubish with a 5 inch action figure. the playset with stor and the 4th doctor is a shame because we’ve now got our 4th tom baker from season 12. iwolud give them a 8 out of 10

each from a specific episode, either the Doctor/ Dalek or an accessory will be a variant.

The 3rd Doctor set sounds interesting.

Not sure i can say any more than that just now

    • McGann is the Doctor

      January 23rd, 2013 - 3:47pm

The Eighth Doctor had many big finish stories, novels and comic books.

The figure of the Doctor may be based on his costume from the comic book/graphic novel “The Flood” in which he weareth a navy frock coat instead of the dark green one.

And different trousers, waistcoat and tie.

Not only that , but the figure they made of him for the first Eleven Doctors set has grey trousers, grey neckwear and grey waistcoat, while in the movie they were all beige. So I think that original figure

So who knows, they will make another movie one ?! 🙂

    • drjakeyoung

      January 23rd, 2013 - 3:54pm

wasn’t “The flood” originally supposed to kill off the 8th doctor and regenerate him into the 9th doctor? Also i think a Dark Eyes version of the 8th doctor would be cool.

    • justininferno

      January 24th, 2013 - 6:42am

Big Finish does not count – it is a franchise an dnot part of the shows continuity. The BBC does not include BF stories in the shows history.

    • McGann is the Doctor

      January 24th, 2013 - 12:38pm

It DOES count, what nonsense to say it doesn’t ! Just because it’s a spinoff doesn’t mean it’s not official !

Who cares what the BBC include or don’t, it only really matters what WE as individuals include. How would they include them in the shows history when they keep making them every week ? ❗

I believe in many of the stories, I believe they really happened during the Doctor’s timeline, like the story “The Wrong Doctors” where Melanie Bush meets the Doctor for the first time ❗

    • andrew

      January 24th, 2013 - 9:50pm

I haven’t listened to many Big finish, but I consider them canon, a delayed and picturelress 8th doctor series is better than no series at all, though I think he deserves a series still even if it is delayed. I hope the BBC sees sense and casts him in the 50th!!

I have made my mind up, I am only going to collect the 5 inch figure that I have not got and stop with the collecting. Don’t get me wrong I am collector but I’m not a child I will not be playing or collecting these abomination of you call figures. I really did enjoy collecting figures but a soon as heard about these the 3.75 inch figures I completely gave up. I haven’t been collecting figures since October last year. Sometimes I just won’t to give up and start collecting Jeff Wayne’s musical version of the war of the worlds. change it back!!!

    • booboo

      January 23rd, 2013 - 11:46am

It was briefly in the chase, it was an ex movie Dalek but with no base and changed ears – they decided it didn’t work figure wise without a base but wanted to release this variant.

  • McGann is the Doctor

    January 23rd, 2013 - 9:26am

Pity there are so few classic figures to collect…a good serving of repeats though albeit served up with some nonsense background scenery…

nothing new to look forward and whats so annoying is there are so many good classic monsters to be released.

    • booboo

      January 23rd, 2013 - 9:31pm

Which are released by Underground Toys not Character, any new classic figures are exclusive to Forbidden Planet in the UK so would hardly be shown at a trade toy fair.

    • Shaney

      January 24th, 2013 - 4:38pm

Thats where Underground Toys are unfair.. Classic Figures shouldn’t only be exclusives for Forbidden Planet and just available for UK residents. I have a hard time getting hold them.. I am lucky sometimes other times I totally miss out.

Completely agree with you there, if Russell T Davies was still producer on the show we would have much more in content and story. The only difference Stephen Moffat has done so far is make the episodes even longer but at the cost of splitting the Series into 2. Probably so he can actually write better stories within the time he delays the show 😛 also this is only an opinion like above please respect one another’s opinions if your about to comment with something to complain or argue against this.

I’ve been expecting the move to the smaller line for a while – make them line up with Star Wars / GI Joe / Marvel Universe, which are the primary non-Transformers toy lines out there right now. I mean, the idea of Cobra Commander or Darth Vader having an in-scale TARDIS is too much fun to think about.

That said, the quality isn’t up to par with Hasbro’s best stuff (pick one of about two dozen GI Joes over the past three years), but it looks to be about to the level of their lower-end Star Wars.

Making a ice warrior head merchandise defently shows that the ice warriors will return! What’s you’r guys thoughts? Also they look amazing, the sets and background sets look amazing also the new series 7 figures look brilliant! Thouw the 3.5 inch figures still dont speak to me! Thouw I wish they just brought out a cybermen,Clara, the doctor(in new costume) and an ice warrior if they return!

haha you really like the ice warriors don’t you 🙂 but in all honesty my opinion is that the ice warriors are unlikely to come back, Stephen Moffat has basically taken over the show with the idea that there are to be new monsters… his idea of deleting the Doctor from the Dalek’s minds is proof of that. I think the only thing we’ll see from Series 7 Part 2 are the new Cybermen which in my opinion will probably be the only good thing to come apart from the 50th Anniversary Special!! Stephen Moffat’s use of Story Arcs is taking its toll for me.

    • McGann is the Doctor

      January 23rd, 2013 - 9:28am

You’re weong lachlan, there is a returning monster other than the Cybermen in Series 7 part 2.

I reckon it is the Sea Devils, or the Zygons, or maybe even the underwater menace, though I hope it is not the latter ❗

    • Lachlan

      January 23rd, 2013 - 10:13am

if there will be a returning monster it would be the ice warriors more likely as we have got merchandise above to give some sort of evidence of that. But l highly doubt it. I think the only one on your list that could be in would be the Zygons if anything for its popularity and new dvd release but economically and judging from what the producer has so far done with the show in my opinion nothing returning is happening but the Cybermen. At least for the rest of Season 7 that is. 50th Anniversary Special could have anything.
