Character Options announces a 5.5” Scale Thirteenth Doctor Figure
The new collectible will be available for pre-sale from 1st December 2018
Character Options has announced details of the next item in its 2018 Doctor Who collection; a 5.5-inch scale figure of the Thirteenth Doctor, played by Jodie Whittaker.
Renowned for its highly detailed 5.5 -inch figures, this latest collectible from Character will delight fans who are celebrating the brand new TV series which launched on BBC One on 7th October.
The figure depicts the newly regenerated Time Lord dressed in her high-waisted culottes, rainbow striped dark blue shirt and coat. Carrying the essential sonic screwdriver, the figure comes with multiple points of articulation.
Mark Hunt from Character Options commented: “From the moment we announced details of the 10” Thirteenth Doctor figure in late August, we have been inundated with questions about a 5.5-inch scale version. We are therefore delighted to be able to reveal details of this latest Doctor Who release.”
The new figure costs £12.99. It will be available from late December, and can be ordered on pre-sale from 1st December 2018

December 5th, 2018 - 8:06pmCharacter online are down to their last 20 (give or take) figures of this. I believe they had around 700 up for order when it first went on.
booboo
December 5th, 2018 - 8:19pmbeing as they had the advantage of most big sites linking to them via the press release (including us) that’s not really surprising to be honest
apart from a couple of Independents other retailers were subject to a Dec 1st embargo, not even amazon have it up which is odd
Luck4Unow
December 5th, 2018 - 9:49pmWill Amazon have it up? I prefer to order from them, if anything, to encourage the potential for CO-Amazon partnerships with exclusives….

dr who fan boy 13
December 5th, 2018 - 4:17pmi think they should do all the doctors and then do all of the time machines in play sets that will be really cool and good to see and i like in season 11 so far the robot episode it is just a real Dr who episode.

December 5th, 2018 - 4:45pmThey already have made all the Doctors.

December 5th, 2018 - 5:12pmthey have nearly done every thing in figures apart from season 11 and some classic ones

Anonymous
December 6th, 2018 - 5:46pmNo worries! It’s not available for another month so there’s no rush to get them up 🙂
What are your opinions of it in hand?
booboo
December 6th, 2018 - 6:05pmto be honest we are are collectors rather than “rivet counters” if you understand that term.
likeness is brilliant, some people disappointed at no ball joints on shoulder, head movement limited up and down as on ball joint but much better that horrible neck joint line.
coat “turns in” part way down hence no colored stripes and can see why including them would be difficult.
packaging isn’t for collectors really
when a static Vashta pop is £20 and this is £13 puts things into perceptive and cant fault it value wise
doctor whom
December 6th, 2018 - 6:25pmthis looks great, hopefully this is the start of CO making some good figures again rather than that will do ones like we have been getting in more recent years.
love the new packaging and like how colourful it is!!!!
mind you i dislike the way they have painted the sonic, it looks very sloppy to me however that is just my opinion on the figure, i will no doubt i will review it on my youtube channel
[ doctor whom??] when i get my hands on it in the new year!!!!!!!!!!!!!

December 5th, 2018 - 6:53pmyes, i agree
doctor whom
December 5th, 2018 - 10:00amwhy don’t CO bring back the classic range, surly a 12th or 13th doctor figure can’t be more expensive to make than a Susan or Jamie?
booboo
December 5th, 2018 - 10:06ambecause there wasn’t enough demand and its even worse now as they were co funded with UT and Character no longer distribute in the USA
doctor whom
December 5th, 2018 - 11:41amthanks for getting back to me, so it seems the only classic figures where getting is the slight changes or re releases B&M give us.

December 4th, 2018 - 11:42amany news on B&M sets?

December 3rd, 2018 - 6:06pmWhich figures were made but never released? That’s the question
booboo
December 3rd, 2018 - 6:11pmmany were sculpted, but not tooled (and that the important bit )
that ” big picture” contained some that have still not been released
off hand i can think of lazurus, Waters of Mars creature, peg doll, scarecrow, yeti, Richard Hurndell 1st Doctor, Zygons 4th Doctor and a few more
It can happen, Korwin came out of the blue in a Tesco set once
M
December 3rd, 2018 - 6:18pmIt would be good idea for character as I know collector would get them. A yeti would be amazing!
booboo
December 3rd, 2018 - 6:26pmfur coated Troughton was another one
biggest hope is perhaps B&M but i have my concerns right now over that
we must also remember Character have effectively lost the entire USA market and on of their biggest UK outlets recently.

December 3rd, 2018 - 8:20pmthe flood figure was on a DVD video feature is seem to remember, Lazarus was posted on the Mark Gatiss twitter feed i think
the others i can’t post here, Owen ( who looked brilliant ) wasn’t a character figure
TIMELORDTC
December 3rd, 2018 - 9:34pmThank you booboo. Forgot Torchwood figures weren’t character. Was the Flood in the same documentary that had the reveal of light up Sutekh?

The Outcast
December 4th, 2018 - 2:23amWait, there was a prototype of a Timelord Solider?
Anyway, unreleased figures I remember are: Update Series 1 Rose, Rose from the Satan Pit, Duffle coat 7, Wheel Cyberman, 10th Doctor (Valiant set version), Yeti and the 5th Doctor’s TARDIS.
Ones I’ve heard about but I don’t know if they were made: Lady Christina (which was rumoured to come in a set with the Tritovore, so if those were made, then she was probably made too), the 3.75 Haemavores.
BrunoB
December 4th, 2018 - 8:55amNo Timelord Soldier that I know of.
There was a guy on some forums who used to have those vast lists of figures they wished to have and who claimed there were prototypes of them.. I believe that was one of those wishes… I think that Lady Christina and the Tritovove were also in that guy’s list.

December 4th, 2018 - 10:45amWasn’t there also prototypes for Donna from The Runaway Bride and an exterminated Tenth Doctor from The Stolen Earth?

December 4th, 2018 - 1:45pmBooboo what are your concerns about B&M?

December 4th, 2018 - 1:48pmnot B&M as such but what they have just done, wont air them in public though they don’t communicate anymore with us anyway.

December 4th, 2018 - 1:48pmWhat are you concerns about B&M?

December 4th, 2018 - 2:11pmSorry for that coming through twice. Has you past source no longer giving information?

December 5th, 2018 - 4:13pmwell i think they should do old classic figures and monsters because that was cool and also they could make some of the new monsters. And i have a really big collection of Dr who figures and what if they did the the 13th doctors time machine play set that would be great to see bye.

December 3rd, 2018 - 8:15amI think this series so far is not lending itself to leading a resurgence in the 5″ line. There’s just not enough good things from the series to make figures out off.

December 3rd, 2018 - 10:04amWhat!, What ! ?
The Doctor (we are getting)
Graham, Ryan,Yaz (might have been waiting to see who comes back for season 2 ) But every series since 2005 , The Doctor has gotton a companion figure (3m Amys,2Martha Jones, 5m, Rose, 4 Clara figures I am aware of) 2 Bill figures, B and M and Amazon)
Tim Shaw (tzm, Sha )
Pting ( iknow lots of people who want both the 5.5 and a plush or stress toy version)
Kerblam Robot
Krasko (the Time Meddler, although that depends on his continuing usage)
Thijarians (Demons of the Punjab)
Solitract (again lots i know what this: There is even an amusing Figurine collection mock up)
Giant Vampire Moths (big furry plush one please 🙂
Thats more than most series have had in the past. Or even gave us in the past few year (bar Capaldis first year, when we got lots of 3.5″ figures .
Lots of opportunities

all the best doctor whom??
Anonymous
December 2nd, 2018 - 6:27pmIt’s a shame that this range of toys has become so infrequent, now with mainly repaints and characters created from other body parts. I use to get hold of old action men in the early 70’s and convert them into Doctors, the Brigadier and with the help of candle wax, autons! For me this has probably been the best of range of toys ever produced for the show. I appreciate that new figures are not that commercial anymore but it seems a little sad to just to keep getting repaints, with the odd new figure. Those classic monsters CO produced were great. Perhaps, as with everything, the range should come to end but with one big final release of characters, perhaps those that were tooled but were never manufactured, or an iconic monster from each Doctor.

December 2nd, 2018 - 2:45pmJust seen a video of this on YT, detailed figure but not as much articulation as more recent figures. I’ll buy it still
doctor whom
December 2nd, 2018 - 2:32pmthis looks like a good figure, but no more than good. CO’s doctor who figures where once amazing but now it seems like they only do alright figures.
now that,s not to say i’m not pleased we are getting a 5.5 inch 13th doctor figure but i wish it looks a bit better than this.
this sudden lake in quality was noticeable in the recent 3rd doctor and tardis set. it was a good set but i dislike the way they just painted over the neck tie it seemed very lazy to me. now i know it is partly done to cost but if they could do it in 2008 they can do it now.
sorry if this sounds grumpy but it is my view points on the matter.
doctor whom
December 2nd, 2018 - 8:22pmi take it back for the 13th doctor figure, she looks great on a review i have seen on youtube!!!

November 21st, 2018 - 10:28pmfrom here that looks like a solid head… not really worth exporting to the UK for me… I like good articulation on figures… from looks alone it looks like it has as much articulation as a Wave 4 Sontaran from 2008…

November 10th, 2018 - 9:11amErrr no! Lol
The Outcast
November 10th, 2018 - 9:42amNo, as they’d need to make the companions as figures first, and that costs too much money for them to be in a B&M set.
I’d reckon we’ll probably see the companions in a set or as separate single carded figures.

November 11th, 2018 - 12:27pmThey sometimes have a delay in getting stock, but equally they can get things early as well. They tend to send things the day they get them or the next day at the latest. November 9th, 2018 - 9:39amI guess another Tennant figure?
Anonymous
November 9th, 2018 - 9:56amAh yeah, probably right. I think if you people class him as a Doctor you then need to include the Valyard, the Dream Lord and the Watcher. Although 10 used up a regeneration by channelling the excess energy into his severed hand, the resulting Meta Crisis Doctor was a result of something else with Donna and not the actual regeneration. Therefore in my opinion their have been 14 incarnations of the Doctor and 4 entities that are connected to the Doctor but not actual incarnations.

Anonymous
November 11th, 2018 - 12:58pmThing with the valeyard is, he’s not a regeneration of the doctor. He seems to be a manifestation of the doctor’s darker side, but he isn’t a time Lord himself, otherwise he wouldn’t need to steal the doctor’s regenerations. He was created between 12th and last (13th doctor matt smith Technically) according to trial of a time lord, it never says he was the doctor, just part of the doctors psyche.
Anonymous
November 11th, 2018 - 1:00pmI know lots of people who would want that. Seems a bit pointless to me, but as far as they are concerned it would be great.
Anonymous
November 13th, 2018 - 1:41amActually another point about the valeyard is that he never really confirms in the ultime foe that he is a version of the doctor. The only proof is from that reliable source the master!

November 8th, 2018 - 9:07pmI’m quite disappointed that the prototype isn’t the final figure. It looks so much better. The final product doesn’t look awful, but it looks quite cheap compared to the prototype.
booboo
November 8th, 2018 - 9:16pmit looks so much better because of photoshopped parts not viable on a production figure
as far as I’m concerned that image should never have been put in the public domain and has just fuelled unjustified negativity to the disadvantage of us all.
SJF
November 8th, 2018 - 10:17pmI’m sure if we were to see a factory produced version of that prototype, it really wouldn’t look all that far off from what we’ve got.
The Outcast
November 9th, 2018 - 1:09amI’m kinda with Booboo here. When I first realised the differences between that photoshopped prototype (which, at the time, I didn’t realise was a prototype) and the proper image, I was annoyed that we didn’t get the arm and upper leg moulds that were on the prototype. I still am a bit disappointed, as the upper legs on the prototype look better and the arms have more articulation, which is what I was upset about (I always understood the paint apps were always going to be like the production figure’s), but I’m still highly looking forward to this figure, which still looks great regardless.
