Thirteenth Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver collectible unveiled by Character Options
The must-have fan collectible is revealed at Comic-Con.
Following its unveiling at San Diego Comic-Con, Character Options is delighted to release further details about its brand new Thirteenth Doctor’s Sonic Screwdriver.
The Sonic Screwdriver is the ever present accessory of the legendary Time Lord, and since the regeneration at the end of 2017, Doctor Who fans across the globe have been awaiting the announcement of a replica collectible Sonic Screwdriver by Character Options.
The new electronic 8” piece from Character Options is the perfect replica of the Doctor’s most trusted device; fully lighting up when activated and featuring brand new diagnostic sound FX.
Prop designer Arwel Wyn Jones talked through the new sonic; “It’s a privilege to have been asked to redesign the iconic sonic screwdriver for the Thirteenth Doctor and a new generation of audiences. I can’t wait for people to see how the Doctor acquires it!”
Alasdair Dewar, Character Options’ Director of Product Development commented: “The new Sonic Screwdriver collectible is a radical departure in look but still retains the classic Sonic abilities and getting access to the prop images early on really helped the development of this toy.”

August 4th, 2018 - 6:30amSo, it seems that Amazon were a little economical with the truth. When I went back to customer service and asked for email confirmation I was told that delivery in 48 hrs was not possible as they would have no stock for at least a week! Order cancelled and very disappointed

July 25th, 2018 - 8:15pmIs it possible that when you email they thought you meant the back end of the sonic. This youtube video is of the seven20 one and the back end spins 180 degrees, maybe the CO one is fixed in place. It seems to me that’s the only difference between the two.

July 25th, 2018 - 11:41amAs far as I can see at $30 the new seven20 sonic is similarly priced to the 12th Doctors which was the same model in the US and UK. Guess we will just have to wait and see if they are the same.
Ordering from the US is likely to come in at around £50 with shipping to the UK.

I’d love them to be wrong about it spinning but the UK version is half the price of the USA version so it’s not surprising and to be honest doesn’t bother me that much. I’ve purchased it and can’t wait to receive it.

July 24th, 2018 - 10:20amAll I did was send a quick email asking if it spun and they got back saying it doesn’t.
Maybe staff who reply to emails at CO have been advised to tell people about it? Because it’s pretty evident that there’s a bit of a backlash for the CO version compared to the Seven20.
If you want to know more I suggest simply emailing them yourself so you get your own answers. 🙂

July 24th, 2018 - 10:28amunfortunately the backlash will probably fail to take into account the seven20 is nearly twice the price (remember the USA don’t pay VAT so works out around £28 equivalent if the $30 price tag is correct ) so this feature may have out priced it for retailers to want to take on in the UK

Other thing is the seven20 one is nearly double the price (taking vat into account) i dont think the mass toy market would stand that sort of price hence the comprise

In this instance it’s just gone so I’ve not got a clue why but I hope they don’t cancel the order. Here’s to hoping they add it back in due course.

July 22nd, 2018 - 11:06amI don’t think merch being released before the Series has ever happened before with Who, though I’m definitely not complaining, as it’s a breath of fresh air to be able to have a 13th Doctor Sonic Screwdriver and (hopefully) action figure in hand whilst watching the Series and it’s especially cool that kids (and anyone else) who becomes a fan with the new Series will be able to pop down to their local store after episode one and grab a toy, rather than having to wait for a year or so to get merch (if they could be bothered to wait), merch which would just be a new variant of the Doctor.
