Synopsis from the official BBC site…

The Doctor becomes alarmed on seeing television coverage of an archaeological dig by a Professor Horner into an ancient barrow near the village of Devil’s End.

He hurries to The Master is posing as the local vicar, Mr Magister, and using black magic rituals to summon Azal, the last of a race known as the Dæmons, whose miniaturised spaceship is buried within the barrow. Benton and Yates arrive in a UNIT helicopter but, before the Brigadier and his troops can join them, a heat barrier appears and cuts the village off from the outside world.

Azal will appear three times and on the last of these occasions will decide whether to transfer his awesome powers to another or to destroy the planet as a failed experiment.

returndevilsendvhsA mythmakers presentation – Return to Devils End

Regarded by many DOCTOR WHO fans as the best all round Jon Pertwee story, THE DAEMONS featured the village of Aldbourne as its central location.

In this special production, presenter NICHOLAS BRIGGS has brought leading cast members & director Christopher Barry to Aldbourne where they recount memories of shooting DOCTOR WHO during one of its most popular periods.

Together with unseen photographs and amateur film of the original shoot, this video will make an invaluable addition to any fan’s collection and provides an in-depth look at the making of DOCTOR WHO in the 1970s.

“RETURN TO DEVILS END has been in various stages of planning for over eight years, getting the actors together in one place at the same time has proved to be an organisational feat worthy of UNIT itself and has only happened because of the dedication and hard work of the stars and production staff to whom I am most grateful.
We would all like to dedicate this video to the memory of Roger Delgado and Peter Grimwade who were part of an era in Doctor Who that I grew up with and adored. If, in this production, we have managed to recapture any of the magic from that time I am content.”

This is one of only 500 limited edition copies of Return to Devils End signed by the cast.

The Daemons is a really good story. Brilliant characters, an amazing atmosphere and a perfect script. Jon Pertwee and Katy Manning deliver fantastic performances aswell as Damaris Hayman making a wonderful character out of Miss Hawthorne. The DVD is equally as good with a nice commentary and a fantastic colour recovery for parts 1,2,3,5. The cover is really nice and tells you just what the story is about with The Doctor, The Master and Azal, this really is a chilling cover. The Daemons is wonderful and I recommend it to all Doctor Who Fans.

Doctor Who ‘The Daemons’ is a brilliant DVD. Great story with superb extra’s. The restoration of parts 1,2,3 and 5 is stunning, although with part 4 complete and looking as sharp as ever you do wish the BBC had seen sense and not wiped the other four episodes. Ah well nevermind, what we do have though is a great colour recovery of a truly classic story.

I quite agree Tim. The exchanges between Alistair Fergus and Professor Horner, especially when they are in the barrow, makes for great TV acting.

‘The Daemons’ may prove to be the best Doctor Who DVD of 2012. It’s a truly superb Jon Pertwee story and it’s one of the best to feature Roger Delgado as the Master. There are several classic scenes in this story and Episode One is one of the best opening instalments to any adventure. In particular I do like the characterisation of Professor Horner and that TV presenter (for BBC 3!) Alisatair Fergus. A classic. 10/10

I like your positive comments and entirely agree. I try and think of what each story is best at, and The Daemons, I believe is the most atmospheric Doctor Who story.

The Daemons probably holds the rank of highest second hand value for a VHS video. At its peak the BBC version of The Daemons was fetching well over £200.

Yes you are right Gordon 19th March is the release date for The Daemons in Region 2. Others release dates for the above are 4th and 10th April, that is for regions 1 & 3/4. That info is a bit sketchy but don`t worry. Its the 19th March.

I am glad there isn’t a modarator no offense but I think it ruins it if there’s a moderator I think its much better just having the original cast

They cant even spell daemons correctly.
They have it down as The D Mons.
Seeing as there is at least 6 other websites stating 26 march i wont hold much hope for the 5th march

I am ecstatic. The Daemons is my all time favourite Doctor Who story and Jon Pertwee is my favourite doctor, and the 26th March is my birthday. Such a funny coincidence, I can’t believe it. 🙂

For me Jon Pertwee was THE Doctor Who and nobody has come close although I loved Peter Cushion in the film versions and Patrick Thornton was good – Tom Baker never really did it for me still – Doctor Who and The Daemons was the ultimate episode ever – it terrified and thrilled me as a child and I am so looking forward to seeing it again – so amazing!!!!

Varos Krotons planet of giants and greatest show are currently being edited according to directors ed stradling and chris chapman.
On his twitter Chris chapman has been saying he also doing some secret projects (SP) He done 4 so far 1 was shada and aint secret anymore. 2 is a hartnall and i think is 10th planet. 3 i think is ice warriors 4is a quickly done one which ive no idea but it could have something to do with the recent find possibly.

And finally Ed Stradling on twitter has mentioned he is dealing with the zygons extras which are due to be handed in january. He has done a doc on nick courtney. Im also expecting History of unit part 3.

I think with the current rate of releases we could possibly finish the monthly releases march 2013 baring potential delays in with animated recoloured stories
