First look at Character’s 3.75″ Ice Warrior Figure
Character Options 3.75″ Ice Warrior Figure
First look at the new 3.75 Inch Ice Warrior figure from Character Options.
Character options is launching a new range of 3.75-inch Doctor Who figures to celebrate to the 50th anniversary show, and Sfx has your first look at the new, upcoming Ice Warrior figure.
This figure is due to be released next month in the new 3.75 Inch scale.
“After huge popular demand from fans, 2013 will see the launch of a range of new series 3¾ inch figures and playsets. The new collection will succeed the incredibly successful 5-inch figures portraying both characters and storylines from the new series including The Eleventh Doctor, his new companion Clara as well as many of the foes he has met over the past 50 years,” says Character Options Brand Manager Mark Hunt.
He adds: “We also have some very special 50th Anniversary product for later in the year… but that is top secret!”
Describing why Character Options has begun the new range with its new size, Hunt says, “This is the 50th anniversary year of Doctor Who and we wanted to create something that was new for the brand and refresh our product offering, and create some demand amongst both avid collectors, fans and children. Our market research showed that many children today are collecting smaller figures and boys action figures across the market are moving to this size.
“The new size also allows us to bring a more affordable price point that we would not be able to at this time with a 5-inch figure. This again is reacting to the market conditions and makes the figures more accessible to more fans. Again in such a special year it was important that we cater for as many as possible.”
These highly detailed, realistic and poseable 3.75 action figures include characters from Doctor Who series seven including Daleks, Weeping Angels, Cybermen armies, and, of course, the Ice Warriors!

April 21st, 2013 - 3:52pmSo we have spend all that money buying figures in the 5 inch range and they stop that and introduce and 3.5 inch range so we have to start all over again
RIP 5-INCH
Scott the Raptor
April 17th, 2013 - 11:02pmI think everyone is expecting far too much from a toy that isn’t even 4 inch. I don’t see how you can expect this to open up and reveal a creature inside. I think the best they’ll be able to do is a swappable head. You need to remember that having the armour open up would be very costly for Character Options, never mind a new creature inside. Aside from the fact that we didn’t see the full creature anyway. I certainly love the look of this figure and I don’t think that it needs to do anything like open up. A swappable helmet would be nice.

April 18th, 2013 - 1:34pmYeah, I guess so.
thedaleksdeath
April 21st, 2013 - 12:02pmI agree Scott the Raptor people need to understand this isn’t 5inch anymore so I doubt they will have the armor open the best that can do is a swappable head
Scott the Raptor

April 28th, 2013 - 9:02amI don’t think it visually comes clost to a Dappl one. This one has much better detail.

April 16th, 2013 - 8:57pmIs it going to have the creature inside? after a careful thought I don’t think so because we did not see all of it and we do not know what it’s like all we saw was it’s long claws and it’s head
JosephWhovian
April 17th, 2013 - 6:28pmYou should atleast be able to pull the helmet back

April 15th, 2013 - 6:32pmReatilers wernt ordering them. They saw them as old news.
Hope this helps

April 15th, 2013 - 8:07pmi know but its because they started to look cheep even my nan said that lol
Scott the Raptor
April 16th, 2013 - 12:16amNo it wasn’t, Josh Smith. It is because no shops were prepared to have more shelf – warmers like The Eleventh Doctor in Stetson and Uncle. As I’m sure were all aware, shelf – warmers are not good news as I’m sure mass market retailers like Toys R Us and Smyths are aware of.
josh smith
April 16th, 2013 - 7:36ambut they looked cheep compared to the classic figures? why is this
Scott the Raptor
April 17th, 2013 - 9:44pmNo they didn’t. They looked very good. Just too many repaints.
The Surgeon
April 15th, 2013 - 10:11amI was disappointed about the Ice Warrior’s hands in this episode. I much preferred them when they were like LEGO hands.
And the feet look terrible.
But I’ll get it it anyway. Maybe. More likely than not.

April 15th, 2013 - 4:52pmO.o….what is the big difference in the feet!?

April 15th, 2013 - 8:07pmthat what i said lol
Dalek The Supreme
April 16th, 2013 - 12:32amInitially, I was disappointed with the lack of the claws, but thinking about it, it would be more intelligent to have jointed fingers rather then flat pincers… Also, I think the new voice is chilling.

April 15th, 2013 - 9:14amI think that the figures realesed in 3.75 inches will be….

April 15th, 2013 - 7:16amThey’ll probably release a variant that will open
perpugilliam247
April 15th, 2013 - 4:54pmmaybe a swapable head
King Ninja
April 14th, 2013 - 11:49pmIt would be great if they released a pic of an episode’s monster straight after their episode aired, like this! I wonder what others there will be? Knowing Character it will be a little pick and mix what critters they choose to portray…I hope we get an Ice Warrior varient without helmet!
The Driver
April 15th, 2013 - 3:36pmThey couldaybe have a character building ice warrior with a swappable head, or they could have done this one with a changeable head.
morlu
April 14th, 2013 - 11:16pmI’m just gutted that when we eventually see the 12th Doctor. I won’t be able to have a 5″ Doc to go with the other 11.
josh smith
April 15th, 2013 - 6:43amthe valyard is the 12th doctor
The Ice Warrior is
April 15th, 2013 - 7:57amno hes alternative thats what he can become
Hellbelly
April 15th, 2013 - 8:44amThe Valeyard is “between the 12th and final incarnation.”
Anonymous
April 15th, 2013 - 9:02amThe Valeyard will probably be a time paradox.I reckon he won’t be in the tv series, I think this will be resolved by a big finish audio.
Anonymous
April 15th, 2013 - 4:44pmI don’t think we will get a final doctor with the 13th doc, the BBC knows it is their most successful show, they may do something to explain how he lives longer, or just like the master and people will accept he lives longer than normal.
josh smith
April 15th, 2013 - 5:41pmi hope it doese end on the 13th. with a bong a epic 5 hours long special. it will be like a long journey finally ended
perpugilliam247
April 15th, 2013 - 5:43pmno BBC have had a back up plan since 1966
matt9982
April 17th, 2013 - 9:10pmTime can be rewritten…
The valeyard could be written out of exsistence and replaced by a nicer incarnation and maybe the doctor could manage to rewrite how many lives he has?
Kroton
April 17th, 2013 - 9:27pmThe master was on his last incarnation in the dr who movie, then appeared in series 3, so he can survive, and he may live longer as the universe lets him or something like that. Also isn’t 13 the average number, so he could last longer!
Kroton
April 17th, 2013 - 9:29pmAnd the doctor has regenerated more times anyway, like when 10 regenerated back into 10.
Doctor Stu
April 14th, 2013 - 9:22pmI’m sorry but with the 5inch figure we would see the individual scales on the mouth and it would look perfect yet on this one the mouth looks like it is made of plasticine and the hands look like they aren’t capable of holding anything. Hopefully when Matt Smith becomes considered as a classic Doctor some things that we didn’t get from series 6 will be released like a 5″ Handbot, Minotaur, kovarian, headless monk etc.
doctorpond393
April 14th, 2013 - 9:58pmI completely agree with everything you’ve said there. Will you be getting ANY of the new 3.75″ figures. I will probably get the doctor clara and the tardis
Doctor Stu
April 14th, 2013 - 10:59pmThank you, I’ll probably buy them just to start a separate series 7 collection beside the 5 inch one. I’ll have to check the quality of them first because when I am in forbidden planet I pass the Star Wars 3.75″ figures and no offence to any Star Wars collectors but they look awful and don’t remotely resemble the character displayed on the packaging. I just hope Doctor Who doesn’t turn out like this.
josh smith
April 15th, 2013 - 7:23amhow can matt smith become a classic doctor thats impossible classic seris is 1963-2004
booboo
April 15th, 2013 - 7:53amin eyes of the BBC when the 12th Doctor arrives the 11th will become classic as have the 9th and 10th

April 15th, 2013 - 9:04amI reckon Kovarian will come back, so I think they will release a figure of her.
Tardis’nt
April 14th, 2013 - 8:29pmthe body is perfect but the helmet/head isn’t right, the fingers do seem a little spindly. there would be far more detail if this was 5″ 😥
Turnip
April 14th, 2013 - 9:10pmThe head looks very badly out of proportion I’m afraid. Makes the figure look a little silly.

April 15th, 2013 - 4:17pmI totally agree

April 14th, 2013 - 7:55pmI am not collecting the new 3 inch figures:( Only collecting the classic 5 inch figures:)
Twelfth Cyber Legion
April 14th, 2013 - 7:59pmI do think when you have one scale you shouldn’t change.
itdalek
April 14th, 2013 - 9:17pmi agree with you but unless alot of old fans complain to CO there won’t be any moe 5 inch figures for season 7 onwards, even if they charge at the classic exclusive prices and only at forbbin planet people will still buy them!
George Dolley
April 14th, 2013 - 11:42pmI won’t be buying them either. The problem isn’t that they have the wrong scale (what kid in their right mind thinks “Wow, I wish this Cyberman was was smaller than The Doctor, if only they’d change the scale!”?), it’s that they didn’t release anything interesting. Idris, yay I guess? Second wave Idris with 2 cubes, I’m supposed to buy it again just to get the cubes? Third wave Idris with 6 cubes, seriously!? It’s not just me: Many collectors have openly said they’ll avoid buying new figures until they’re old in case of superior re-releases.

April 14th, 2013 - 12:18pmNo they weren’t, shops were losing interest. The reason for these is because they knew that they would have to make something different. I personally think its a great idea.

April 14th, 2013 - 12:45pmNo shops were buying them, every shop near me (supermarkets, toysRus, the entertainer and many more, just has the very first wave, and said they weren’t buying more as they couldn’t sell the ones they had. Saying that they couldn’t sell them as they weren’t characters we wanted, they should have done people like liz 10, river, rory, and Craig in the first wave, not bracewell and Hawthore !

Dominic Kane
April 14th, 2013 - 1:57pmthe reason people stoped buying series 6 figures was because they kept repeating the figures with flesh packs
booboo
April 14th, 2013 - 2:05pmproblem was long before that
perpugilliam247
April 14th, 2013 - 2:10pmhow long
booboo
April 14th, 2013 - 2:15pmas far as i understand it there were orders for series 6 figures but not enough to warrant the development costs of new figures but they still had to supply the quantities that had been ordered hence that variants and repeats of those that had already been made.
Bottom line, retailers lost interest after series 5
perpugilliam247
April 14th, 2013 - 2:19pmi never knew
booboo
April 14th, 2013 - 2:20pmthere is a lot more to making and releasing figures than people realise
auton101
April 14th, 2013 - 3:13pmI don’t mind anyway because i only get the classic series range. But i was going to get the new ice warrior figure but now ive seen the detail i am disappointed. The classic warrior clearly has more detail because of the size of the figure. I read some people saying that the tardis for the new size figures is more detailed, that’s because the detail isn’t hard to put on to a blue police box, whilst with the ice warrior there are the scales and the cracks between them to deal with and everything shrinks down. They just aren’t great.
Kroton
April 14th, 2013 - 3:32pmWhat more can you want, it’s a toy, not a model, the idea is kids play with them. There isn’t much more detail this can have, and at least the new figures are cheaper and don’t have strange articulation, like other brands, where the arms stick out and the heads are tiny!
auton101
April 14th, 2013 - 8:12pmThe point is we buy them if they look good and look cool. But these on’t look good and many people won’t buy them.
booboo
April 14th, 2013 - 8:17pmbut many people will buy them that didn’t buy the 5″ figures as these have play-sets and are compatible with other figures.
you missing the point, the new series 5″ line is dead and gone, no new figures just releases and variants where possible
this is a new line aimed at a different playability and compatibility toy market, i dont think it was intended as a replacement.
im not here
