Character Building Super Rare Series 2
Details of new Super Rare Doctor Who Micro-figures revealed – Series 2 released and a new hunt is on!
Character Options, manufacturers of the Character Building Doctor Who construction toy range has confirmed that new Super Rare micro-figures ARE amongst the recently released Series 2 collection.
The Character Building Doctor Who construction micro-figures launched at Easter. There was an overwhelming demand for the Series 1 collection which was incredibly popular with fans; they embarked on an avid hunt when the five original Super Rare figures were slipped into the series.
With Series 1 sold through, Series 2 has been released and fans have been eager to find out if this new collection would also include some elusive specials. Well the rumours are confirmed and Character Options can now reveal the details.
What to look out for…
Out of millions of figures available, there are just 500 of the Hologram Silent, and River Song, whilst 250 each have been made of Rory Williams as the Last Centurion and Amy Pond in a Pirate Costume. Most elusive of all however will be the Eleventh Doctor unshaven and in a straightjacket with just 100 pieces to be found!
Each of these special figures is accompanied by an exclusive Doctor Who Gold display base and a Golden Ticket of Authenticity, another aspect that makes them highly collectable. Some Super Rare figures from Series 1 are already passing hands on eBay at over 60 times their face value!
Mark Hunt, Character Options, Brand Manager commented: “The Series 1 Super Rare micro-figures were such a hit that we just had to repeat the exercise for the new collection. There is a huge demand for these figures which are findable… but it is a challenge!”

September 7th, 2011 - 5:54am*Sigh* Making these figures so rare that they are only available to the super-lucky or super rich seems completely out of context with the Doctor Who franchise.
The show itself constantly reminds us that ‘everyone is important’, so making figures that people really want… and can’t have… seems really out of line. It’s really wrong to deny someone (kids and collector’s alike) a figure of their favourite character, because they are not ‘lucky’ enough, or ‘rich’ enough, or there’s simply not enough for everyone.

September 6th, 2011 - 6:11pmRiver haz the wrong type of gun -_- it was an old revolver or six-shooter in the episode, the one in the picture looks the wrong shape.
Also has anyone noticed Amy’s Sword is EXACTLY the same as lego’s? I know as I have some from a Pirates Of The Carribean set. As much as I love the Pirate Amy costume I wish they’d give her a tricorn, instead of making another ruddy repaint!!! Also not being fussy here but her coat’s a bit too dark.
I’d definately want Roman Rory or the Holo-Silent the most. Transparency makes all minifigs look cool.

it’s a character building 25 figure set (despite the image only showing 20), not including any doctor who figures but it does have some hm armed forces figures in there and new figures such as footballers, zombies and knights. this reminds me quite a lot of the lego minifigures range with lots of different characters

September 6th, 2011 - 5:05pmeleventh doctor blue bow tie is a daily mirror exclusive so they probably won’t release it in the wave – but maybe they would release it in a set (they could do and ganger set with either the flesh bowl or the things that the humans controlled the gangers with and two figures – eleventh doctor with blue bow tie and ganger doctor. ‘eleventh doctor with green coat’ does that mean his new coat or just something you’ve thought up in your head?
but other than that i think they would make a good series of cb figures especially the siren and nephew

September 6th, 2011 - 9:48amDepends on your definition of ‘variants’. I personally don’t consider the Raggedy/Football/Straightjacket Doctors to be variants for example, as they are completely different costumes.
If they’d put the straightjacket Doctor in the normal range, then a straightjacket Doctor with chains/different colouring in the super-rares, then I’d consider that a variant.

September 6th, 2011 - 9:51amIf the super-rares had been all proper variants of common figures, I don’t think people would be half as upset as they are. For example, if you could get the basic figure (aka a plain Raggedy Doctor) in the normal range, then have a repaint of the Raggedy Doctor as a super-rare… well, if you don’t get the super-rare, you still at least have a Raggedy Doctor!
At the moment we don’t have anything. I would love a Raggedy/Straightjacket/Football Doctor of SOME kind, even if they are slightly different from the super-rare release.

If enough people tell them that they’re upset about not being able to get these, maybe something will change.

While character may fool hundreds of children into buying an extra one or two packets in the vain hope of getting one of these ultra rares we all know that most will end up on eBay for only the very rich or very silly.
My plan it to buy the ones I want directly from sellers who buy whole boxes and open them all and get the Tardis. I won’t pick up a single blind packet now.
