Character Building Super Rare’s Series 3
The figures include only 500 of the Eleventh Doctor in tuxedo, 250 each of Rory in his nurse’s uniform and River Song in a catsuit, and just 100 each of Amy with tally marks and a space-suited Tenth Doctor.
Mark Hunt, Brand Manager for Character, commented:The first and second series of super rare micro-figures were such a hit that we just had to add some super rare figures to the new collection. There is a huge demand for these figures which are findable… but it is a challenge!
Each also comes with a golden ticket of authenticity.

January 13th, 2013 - 7:42pmI think it would be nice if the super rare figures were from the classic series… It would make a nice extra to the range that focuses on the new series, and allows for people to actually collect all figures that relate to the new series… Just a thought.
Character Building could also have a voting system on their website whereby we could vote for the ‘people’s choice’ for new figures to be released! Listen to the market! 🙂

January 3rd, 2013 - 10:53pmThe figures look good but I don’t know why they have those certain figures because there are better looking figures in the rest of series 3. Although I understand about the little differences in the figures like what they do with the variant 5″ figures. Also I think in the next Character Building Dr. Who series they should more of the classic monsters and aliens like the Ice Worriers, some of the classic Dalek designs or the classic Doctors however I heard that they made a set of all the Doctors since 1963!

January 15th, 2013 - 9:42amIt’s supposed to be a marketing thing I guess… you might buy more packets looking for super-rares, and you generate more discussion about a product when they are found.
I think that certainly worked for the first series, but after that I think the novelty quickly wore off as people became disillusioned with the prices the super-rares auction for – and the unlikelyhood of ever actually finding one (let alone owning the whole set), regardless of how many packets you buy.
I guess they keep making them though since it’s now become ‘a feature’.

December 28th, 2012 - 8:49amThey’re amazing, but I think I have a greater chance of seeing Elvis in Morrisons than finding one. Which is a crying shame as I would like to have a complete set. I wish that they were of the same rarity level as the Serene Angels and Police Amys as they were pricey (only today I finally bit the bullet and bought a rare angel on eBay for a tenner) but at least you had a fair chance of getting one. The super rares I would rather not be teased with, thanks.

December 13th, 2012 - 2:40amVery nice. I’m a bit disappointed that the 11th Doctor in tux is a super rare (as I would have loved that one in my collection) however, we’ve been guessing that one as a super-rare for awhile now, so it’s not really a suprise!
River looks really great too. 😀 The others are a bit ‘samey’ to me, but still nice.

I just hate the fact Amy has tally marks, they look so pointless and ruin the coolness. The Doctor in Tuxedo looks awesome, so does the Tennant in SB6 spacesuit and Rory. I love the River, this just looks perfect.

December 11th, 2012 - 8:45pmThe problem with these is that they are just too rare. The idea behind them is to make a figure that is rare enough that it encourages people to buy even more of their figures but the problem is they have made them so rare that people just genuinely can’t be bothered finding them and would rather just spend a fortune on ebay if it really bothers them.
I think a good idea would be to increase the number of figures a lot so that there a single super rare in every case of figures. That way it costs a lot to get them all but it’s possible.

December 12th, 2012 - 10:09amTotally agree. Even my 8 year old Great-nephew figured out that searching for these was pointless.
In fact the odds of previous Super Rares are such that you were more likely to get 4 numbers on the National Lottery (twice over) than find one of these.
They did the same with Wave 3 of HMAF and only 1 has ever been on Ebay out of the 222 they’ve produced.
Then they ask you to collect the set!
