B&M 2021 First Doctor and TARDIS Set

Character Options is excited to announce a next wave of Doctor Who action figure sets for 2021 with five new lines scheduled to arrive in B&M stores in Mid-October.

The line-up will introduce two more action figure three packs, two further ‘History of the Daleks’ sets, plus a rather splendid “Doctor & TARDIS” set. This new wave includes highly detailed and decorated 5.5 inch scale figures with multiple points of articulation all of which come packaged in the familiar ‘heritage’ style Doctor Who collector packs with specially created insert artwork. Once again these Limited Edition figure sets all bring something fresh to the range be it the characters themselves or variants never released before.

In this story, upon entering an old Junkyard in Totters Lane, Shoreditch in a bid to locate a wayward pupil of theirs, schoolteachers Ian and Barbara encounter a mysterious stranger called the Doctor and his unworldly Time and Space machine TARDIS. The set features the First Doctor figure in his closed jacket and scarf plus the TARDIS. The TARDIS is also presented for the first time with a more correct ‘Brachacki’ style taller roof and Fresnel lamp of Season 1 plus additional ‘drip bars’ on the lower windows.

Al Dewar Character Options’ Creative Director said: “I think it is safe to say this swathe of releases is very different from the first release and features some truly unique characters and ‘Big hitters’. This line up represents some of the finest episodes of the Fifth Doctor, Cyber Androids with interchangeable ‘attack’ hands, a Raston Warrior Robot and a new First Doctors TARDIS that’s not just a repaint! In the Daleks sets we have also delivered something new for fans again with some truly nefarious Daleks and the first real ‘army builder’ set. We hope that our fans and followers enjoy them!”

Surely it would be worth Character running another few thousand of 1st doctor tardis sets off the production line when they can see greedy people asking over £100 on ebay

I appreciate that the ‘ship may have sailed’ on this one, but any sightings in the Bristol and surrounding areas would be welcomed!

5 of these this morning at B&M Megaloughton Lane, Spondon, Derby (after I bought one).

Also History of the Daleks 6 & 8, and 1st Doctor & TARDIS, but no Five Doctors set.

An idea for Character themselves, if they were to sell these sets on their website and not in stores, it would much better for people wanting to get the sets instead of just waiting on misinformation from stores and people. If more online exclusives are next year, this will be much better but more pricy for everyone if your doing what you did with the 2nd and TARDIS set and Jungles of Mechanus sets.

I think Character have realised it’s far too risky to take on themselves, unless the item is extremely desirable and certain to be snapped up within days – like the Mechanus sets. Doctor Who fans are very fickle and you never know what sets are going to languish in stock until you reduce the price. You only have to look at the Marinus sets that can still be found on shelves everywhere. CO would prefer to let B&M take the hit for any unsold stock, and B&M are obviously finding the profits acceptable to risk taking those hits.

Absolutely agree about the TARDIS sets though. If CO had released this as a £39.99 Flight Control with a 1st season backdrop inside it would have flown off the web site (if they could find a suitable photo from that era – I’ve never managed to).

Woo, this set is starting to appear on eBay! (Kept my eye out yesterday but none, but there’s a couple of there now. 🙂 ) Now just need to figure out what a decent price to pay for one is, as there’s no B&M near me…. £100 I think not. XD
