B&M 2020 The Witch’s Familiar Collectors Set UK Product Code 364316. Available from 8th November 2020.

This figurine set is inspired by Season 9, Episode 2, first broadcast in September 2015.

On Skaro the Twelfth Doctor confronts a dying Davros who is using living Daleks as life-support. Can the Doctor intercept Davros’ evil plan before it is too late?

The set comprises of the Twelfth Doctor and Davros figures and recognises the face-to-face moment when Davros and the Doctor lock horns.

Speaking of the new release, Al Dewar, Creative Director said: “This year has seen a cascade of new sets for collectors and fans and these latest two sets are favourites of mine because they represent unique moments in Doctor Who that many fans including myself remember… wonderful stuff!’

I’m confused. What was the release date for these sets again? Someone said that Amesbury B&M had these sets today.

I always had the 9th, PR said the 8th, others have said the 23rd.

We only have the one report so lets see how we go this week. I have asked for an image to verify.

I don’t know why but, I should be grateful that I managed to get HOTD #3 at least. Keep in mind a friend of mine managed to get this for me in Birmingham (huge thanks to him!!) It’s honestly because I want to accompany with it the HOTD#4 set and a Visitation TARDIS set. I’m new to collecting DW figures. I could go up and down the country to get these but, I don’t have a car and I’ve got my own life to attend to. Plus, I think that my fuel costs would go through the roof if I did have a car. This is really weird, confusing and upsetting for people like me or in a similar problem like me. =( Will CO produce more to distribute the October sets to the areas void of stock, or are the areas void of stock aren’t getting any? Apologies if I sounded rude, there.

I think due to budget issues, CO wasn’t able to do that. On the other hand, it gives new collectors to pick up a Davros and a 12th Doctor if they missed out on their first release.

I have the set, and the only difference I could really find is that the chair uses the brighter silver they used on the 60s Daleks, and the face paint apps are marginally different, but it’s basically the same as the 2008 version, there’s really not anything much in it.

    • Doctorus

      October 30th, 2020 - 7:02pm

Do you know if the areas void of stock will get them first, prototype dalek?

    • Prototype dalek

      October 30th, 2020 - 7:33pm

I assume so, probably easier to use already existing boxes for them. History of the dalek set boxes contain 6 of each set in each box of 12.

I think the void areas will get them, as long as the distribution centre is up and running. Though probably not first, probably like past waves.

The reason why distribution was terrible this year, after speaking to someone at head office at B&M. Apparently the new southern distribution warehouse wasn’t ready to open yet and so all distribution went to the northern hub and so by the time it opened, most of the stock was already sent out before it could be redistributed to the south due to the demand. Hence the voids.

So in the end there was no distribution most likely because there was no southern distribution centre fully operating when stock arrived from China

So…most of the stock went to the northern hub? I’m really annoyed, now. =( (Not your fault, prototype dalek, B&M’s fault entirely)

    • prototype dalek

      October 30th, 2020 - 8:53pm

Due to thier Southern site being down yeah, and due to demand and store orders, there wasn’t much to be redistributed when back up to full operation.

    • Prototype dalek

      October 30th, 2020 - 10:50pm

Basically yeah, due to the fact that the southern distribution centre wasn’t fully operating. Hopefully it’ll be back to normal from now on

      October 30th, 2020 - 9:58pm

I think actually zooming in on the eyes I can see that they’ve actually added eyelids or something to make it look like his eyes are closed. I hope Al does another video to confirm this or to explain what is different.

An excellent set for those missing a Davros or 12th with longer hair (which is the head sculpt I much prefer for him), but I’ll probably pass on this one as already have both. Great to see though!

Would have been nice to see the “closed” version of the sonic with this as an accessory that came with the origional capaldi figures. It was a main part of the episode, and Ace comes with her rocket launcher accessory.

I’d LOVE a Capaldi figure where he doesn’t look like a giant next to the other Doctors the closest we have it the TOTD head on the 11th Doctor body. These Capaldi figures from S9 have too big feet and too long legs!!!

Good for people who missed them first time around, shame they never give the Doctor’s their sonics with these sets.
It’s a good idea to make new versions of figures they already have moulds for, anything from Remembrance of the Daleks is hard to find on eBay for a reasonable price so Daleks and Davros from that story would sell.

Sigh I had already given up and bought both hoodie Capaldi and Ace from eBay, but I am still tempted by these. Since Capaldi has so little stuff an extra Davros and slight Capaldi variant will add to the shelf. I will try to get another red and gold Supreme too. And if I would like to see what is different with the Ace plus I don’t have any Remembrance Daleks so even if she only comes with a destroyed Imperial (which I think is most likely) it is still new to me.

I have done the same, I bought two rare Nemesis Cybermen from eBay just before the B&M sets were announced of the same figures. I have also bought Ace on eBay as well as Remembrance figures, I only have one Imperial Dalek (Lucky find at a okay price) but I’d like another and a Renegade so I’m not buying much from eBay just encase.

Am I right in thinking this Davros is a re-release of the 2008 Stolen Earth Set and the 12th Doctor is pretty much a re-release of the 2017 FP exclusive, the only difference being he has a plain t-shirt?

I’m not being negative, it’s a lovely set for those who missed the original releases – I am trying to work out if its worth buying if you already have those releases.

That seems to be it, Looks like a B&M set for new collectors or for those who missed out 1st time around, there isn’t much here to tempt long term collectors to be honest.

    • DoctorPond393

      October 28th, 2020 - 1:04pm

12 is just a variant of his S9 costumes. The original releases were from Under the Lake/Before the Flood and The Girl Who Died. So technically we’ve never had this variant. Davros seems to have a greyer wash, and uses the newer shinier silver we’ve seen on the HOTD sets recently. I’ll be buying for the Doctor alone.

    • Mrs Croot

      October 28th, 2020 - 3:04pm

Good for me as have both originals, but my Davros has seen better days and is broken in 4 places (2 shoulder pads and 2 spikes on the head rest), but as I said before, paint aps on the face aren’t that good to me. I know others who have broken Davrosi (I guess) so it is appealing in that way for many.
