Torchwood fans – brace yourselves! 2021’s first tranche of full-cast Torchwood audio dramas has been revealed, with three monthly adventures confirmed for January to March.

Created for television by Russell T Davies in 2006 as a high-octane action series, Torchwood has enjoyed a renewed life as an ongoing series of audios produced by Big Finish Productions since 2015.

The Torchwood collection encompasses sequels, prequels and a new feature-length story every month, starring the original cast. Above the law, beyond the police, the members of the Torchwood Institute, a secret organization founded by the British Crown, continue to protect the Earth from extraterrestrial and supernatural threats.

May 2021 will see the release of a special Torchwood monthly adventure, number 50 in the range (details of which are being kept under wraps for now). Meanwhile, the first three titles and writers for the new year have been unveiled:

• January 2021 Coffee by James Goss
• February 2021 Drive by David Llewelyn
• March 2021 Lease of Life by Aaron Lamont

Already confirmed to return are Owen Harper (Burn Gorman), Ianto Jones (Gareth David-Lloyd) and Toshiko Sato (Naoko Mori), with more special guests to be revealed along the way.

Producer of Big Finish’s Torchwood range, James Goss, said: “2021 is Torchwood’s fifteenth year and sees our fiftieth regular release come out.

“We’ve got a lot of joys planned – starting with our January release Coffee which celebrates the first three series of Torchwood from the point-of-view of the owners of a cafe in Cardiff Bay.

We’ve also got Owen investigating the worst flat share in the world and Tosh teams up with a taxi driver to save the city.

“Beyond that, subscribers to the monthly range will get a real treat with the fiftieth release. We’re also looking at doing something really lovely to celebrate Torchwood’s fifteenth anniversary (we’ve been recording it for over a year and are still going!) and there’ll be several other special releases.”
