Big Finish – Gallifrey: Time War

Available to order from www.bigfinish.com

Four new chapters in the Gallifrey saga:

The Time Lords and the Daleks have opposed one another across millennia. But now, their conflict tips into an all-out Time War, and nowhere across the universe of spacetime is safe.

Battle plans will be drawn, allies recruited, and innocents caught in the crossfire.

Gallifrey is going to war, and the cosmos will never be the same again.

1. Celestial Intervention by David Llewellyn

The Temporal Powers are under threat. It is only a matter of time before the Daleks attack.

Now CIA Coordinator, Romana must protect the interests of Gallifrey, while dealing with demands from President Livia and an increasingly powerful War Council.

As allies are whittled away, the Time Lords are drawn into a conflict they can no longer avoid…

2. Soldier Obscura by Tim Foley

Braxiatel has always planned for contingencies. As hostilities escalate, he takes Ace into a deadly region of spacetime – The Obscura – to locate an ancient research station.

But Ace is about to learn more about Irving Braxiatel than anyone should know.

Some soldiers are ready for this fight, but some will not make it through the first round.

3. The Devil You Know by Scott Handcock

The Time War has begun in earnest, and Romana must think the unthinkable. For a most dangerous mission, she selects the most dangerous warrior – the Master.

But he will not be alone. Leela accompanies her old enemy as they begin an unusual interrogation.

What does Finnian Valentine know? And can Leela and the Master ever truly be on the same side?

4. Desperate Measures by Matt Fitton

The Dalek Emperor attacks a vital Time Lord outpost. Victory would be a devastating blow to Gallifrey.

Romana is caught in the machinations of a President who sees control slipping away. Is it time to bargain with the War Council, or perhaps to parlay with even more dangerous parties?

The Time War has barely begun, and for Gallifrey, desperate times are already here…

You can listen to it without hearing the previous sets, I listened to it without listening to the other sets I understood everything.

As for whether it is worth buying, I really don’t know. It depends on you.

As good as this sounds they are streching this whole’ time war’ thing a bit aren,t they? I,m sure its great but come on surely after this lets move on to the next chapter. P. s the war doctor series and the Time war boxset are a must if your following. Just something a bit different from the Gallifrey chronicles in the future. don,t run something into the ground Big Finish.

I don’t see how they’re running the idea to the ground, they’re tackling it from all angles; the front lines in th War Doctor Series, from the point of view of someone with less than noble intentions in the War Master Series, The political side in the Gallifrey series and then the early years, the civilians involved, and conscientious objection in the Eighth Doctor Series. They’re not all going to be vital to the story, but it’s not like they’re doing the same thing four times over but with different characters.

I don’t think the War Doctor stories were from the front lines, they were sort of just general Time War stories.

I’m certainly hoping we’ll more Time War stuff, like (as some people have suggested) a Dalek War reboot, but set in the Time War and maybe, a couple years from now, War Doctor short trips. But I’d like that to happen when the rest of these Time War series die down a bit, so that we aren’t constantly overwhelmed by stuff on the war.

I agree with the perspectives from all sides but don,t milk it. Surely they could persuade ecclestone into those booths. That tortured point of view would be a more than welcome addition to this series.

I’d love 9th Doctor audios, but I doubt Eccleston will do anything to do with Doctor Who.

Eccleston, told nick briggs, that he would not do big finish at the moment, but he has not ruled out doing some in the future.

Apparently you can start with this one and never listen to the others and understand what is going on!

Wonderful to see this. You can really see the Doctor-shaped hole that John Hurt’s passing has left though. It’s very likely that he would otherwise have appeared in these. Must missed.

I think if I am understanding where this series of Gallifrey takes place, it is very early on into the Time War so it would be Paul McGann’s incarnation of the Doctor that should actually be making an appearance in this…or not as the case may be as he was trying to stay out of it.

Hoping we’ll see more of these Gallifrey: Time War boxsets to cover the part of the war when the War Doctor was around. Maybe the End of Time Rassilon could appear in one of them?

The cover art does say “Volume One” on it so *fingers crossed* we’ll get a second volume!
BTW…love the idea of Timothy Dalton coming back to play Rassilon for a future Gallifrey: Time War boxset!

Yeah it’s been confirmed that there’s multiple sets planned.

I hope if he does come back they reveal he was Omega claiming to be Rassilon which would explain why his character was completely backwards in the End of the time. He created the glove to control the minds of the time lords and made them believe he was Rassilon and as a weapon to kill anyone who tried to expose him.

Yes, timelord training, if classic season 27 had have happened, we would have ace go off to gallifrey and a character called raine take over as companion, think this is covered in the big finish lost stories.

The Ace leaving part has never been covered but the fact she went for Timelord training is covered in several audios set after she has left. apparently Sophie does not want to do a leaving story.
