Big Finish David Tennant teams up with Anjli Mohindra

The Tenth Doctor and Rani

David Tennant teams up with Anjli Mohindra for three brand-new Doctor Who audio adventures, beginning in August 2027.

David Tennant is set to return as the Tenth Doctor in twelve new full-cast audio adventures, released bimonthly from August 2027. The first three of these adventures form a trilogy in which the Time Lord is teamed up with a friend of a friend – Rani Chandra (Anjli Mohindra)!

Rani, a character first seen in Doctor Who spin-off The Sarah Jane Adventures, is striking out on her own journalism career when she encounters the Doctor – who’s dealing with an alien threat, of course. Soon, she follows in the footsteps of her mentor Sarah Jane and steps aboard the TARDIS.

Anjli Mohindra said: “It’s always such a delight to go back into playing Rani – she was one of the first proper parts I played, so there’s a real sense of familiarity. It does feel like an inevitability that her and the Doctor’s paths would cross. Sarah Jane was such a special person to both of them, the love they have for her is really similar, and that’s a real shared thing that gives them a shortcut.”

The three new adventures follow the Doctor and Rani as they investigate cryptids in modern-day Cumbria, discover a crisis at the coronation of Elizabeth I, and crash the set of a 1970s sci-fi show. For the aspiring journalist, it’ll be work experience like no other…

The complete Doctor Who – The Tenth Doctor and Rani trilogy bundle is now available to pre-order for just £27 (as digital downloads to own) or £39 (downloads + collector’s edition CDs), exclusively from www.bigfinish.com. Please note: the collector’s edition CDs are strictly limited to 2,500 copies each and will not be re-pressed.

The three full-cast episodes are:

  • The Hidden by Roy Gill, due for release in August 2027
  • Empress of the Universe by Lizzie Hopley, due for release in October 2027
  • In Effects by John Dorney, due for release in December 2027

Further story and cast details will be revealed at a later date.

Producer and script editor Matt Fitton said: “The Tenth Doctor and Rani Chandra feels like a TARDIS team that was always meant to happen! United by their love for Sarah Jane Smith, it’s only fitting that Rani gets to follow in the footsteps of her mentor and venture out into time and space.

“She runs into the Doctor in Cumbria as she investigates sightings of strange creatures for a potential podcast – I wonder what happens with that? – and is soon whisked away to amazing adventures. Like Sarah, the Doctor sees Rani’s potential immediately – the pair soon run into his wife-to-be Princess Elizabeth, and a very familiar 1970s TV sci fi show…”

Big Finish listeners can pre-order each instalment in the trilogy individually for just £9.99 (download to own) or £13.99 (download + collector’s edition CD), exclusively from www.bigfinish.com.

Additionally, a complete series multibuy bundle of all twelve new The Tenth Doctor Adventures episodes is available to pre-order at the discounted price of £102 (digital download to own) or £132 (download to own + collector’s edition CD).
