I just bought Revolution of the Daleks yesterday on Blu Ray from HMV however the audio is very crackly when the episode is being played. I made sure that this wasn’t just my TV so I played another blu ray but the audio was completely fine. Has anybody had this issue and who do I contact to receive a replacement disc?

Not doctor who related (sorry) but ive recently started rewatching primeval because its been years since i last watched it and i forgot how good it is, it was definitely a very good attempt from itv at a doctor who style programme but its a shame it only had 5 series’, whats everyone else’s thoughts about it?

I really liked primeval, I remember watching them all on broadcast then buying all the 5 seasons on DVD. Also bought all of the primeval figures which were the same scale as the Dr who figures. I think they were even made buy CO as well.

Thanks to ITV ‘axing’ the series my viewing of it fizzled out. The scene where a swimmer dives from a board to be swallowed in one gulp by a mosasaur is highly impressive and indelibly imprinted though – predating a similar scene in a Jurassic Park film by several years.

Although CO made figures from the 1st two series of primeval I only recently found out figures were planned from the third series and probably would have continued further had it not been for Woolworths (their sponsors) going bust!

If they can do sensorites and Voord for Hartnell, perhaps they could do a fishperson, ice warrior with integrated weapon or yeti for troughton next year?

    • booboo

      June 16th, 2021 - 12:38pm

whats not often mentioned about the yeti, is that’s its one huge chunk of solid plastic, its big, very big, so even it were possible to retail them now i doubt B&M budgets would stretch to that.

Only hope is a rotocast compromise maybe or and online exclusive, we don’t even know if it was “tooled”, if it wasn’t that along with the huge amount of plastic involved might be (one) of the reasons its been a no show.

    • The ergon

      June 16th, 2021 - 2:16pm

If character can do it with the gelguard and b and m are aware then there could be a good potential compromise in the waiting.

    • booboo

      June 16th, 2021 - 2:36pm

I think if possible Character would want to keep that one for themselves, B&M will only be paying a few £1’s per set, not enough for a brand new rotocast.

    • The Loiterer

      June 16th, 2021 - 5:13pm

Has anyone figured out which figures have been canibalised to make the sensorites? I’m not au fait enough with the line, beyond knowing the Axon man has lots of reuse potential.

    • The Loiterer

      June 16th, 2021 - 5:38pm

Rights with estates permitting, the yeti would be perfect if something like Kickstarter was allowed. (It is fine for established Disney toy licence holders, so there is a successful model to follow.)

    • The ergon

      June 16th, 2021 - 6:20pm

Booboo, i was referring to your previous comment with regards to a compromise rotocast, not from scratch.

    • booboo

      June 16th, 2021 - 6:55pm

I still think a cheaper rotocast tooling would be beyond B&M budgets, it would still need new tooling albeit less complicated and if i were character i would want such a “milestone” in figure releases to be “in house” at this stage to maximise profits and investment.

What is the likelihood of B&m doing a 6th doctor and TARDIS set and a 8th doctor movie Tardis set ?

      June 12th, 2021 - 8:25pm

I would say an 8th Doctor & TARDIS set I more likely than a 6th Doctor & TARDIS. Its been told that the 6th Dr’s costume is too expensive for the B&M range due to the amount of intricate details and colours to produce. Also, the 8th Dr would probably be the TV Movie version which has only had the one release several years ago so would be pretty desirable amongst new collectors especially.

    • Master of M

      June 12th, 2021 - 9:04pm

None sadly. 6th Doctor is an expensive paint job apparently, and an 8th TARDIS would mean a whole new tooling, again too expensive.

Master of M: I take it that you haven’t seen the release of the 13th Doctor’s Tardis? They don’t let a need for new tooling – or accuracy – get in the way of putting out a product…

I was watching ‘Dates’ again last night, the classic ‘Only Fools special’ from 1988 and even seeing it on transmission, i couldn,t help but thinking that Raquel and del were so desperate to impress each other. Del tipping head waiter charles (as played by one Nicholas Courtney) to refer to him as Mr. Duvall (not Trotter) and telling him his office had called in front of Raquel. And raquel reeling off her acting jobs in which ‘I had a part in a Doctor Who about 10 years ago, I was a lizard person’. Except Raquel there were no ‘lizard people’ between 1977-1978, so which story would she have been referring, i wonder? If Dates had been made in say 1997-1998, I would have thought she might have been one of those indolent lakertyans.

Well she does say ‘about ten years ago’ which could be anything from 7,8,9,10,11 or 12 years previous. So stretch the parameters a bit XD

    • The ergon

      June 11th, 2021 - 7:07pm

By stretching the parameters she would have either been exaggerating somewhat or a very young lizard person.

    • Anonymous

      June 11th, 2021 - 7:38pm

Could be that reason, doctor stu, but at the end of the day it’s just comedy, more of a nod to Mr Courtney being in dr who, not to be taken as fact. Pure fiction, that’s all.

    • the ergon

      June 12th, 2021 - 8:49am

I just found the line rather funny at the time even though it is fiction. There were a few doctor who references in fools including the reject doll that says Exterminate and Rodneys line about the washing machine being like a dalek with St. Vitus dance.

    • The Outcast

      June 13th, 2021 - 5:24am

It’s not a hoax. The images we got of the sets lined up with a previous rumour, and there’s no way anyone could fake something like those figures in the three pack to that level. I assume that an announcement was already scheduled for soon, I’d be surprised if we didn’t get one on the next week or so.

    • Popplewick

      June 13th, 2021 - 7:01pm

Outcast I dont want to rain on your parade but boxes can be produced easily now there are all sorts of repro items for antique Who memorabilia doing the round…and fans can make custom figures which are as good if not better than the real thing. Id be interested in seeing Al Deawr’s announcement though if someone would kindly point us inthe right direction. Thanks. Incidentally from what Ive seen the new sensorites are excellent – just not getting my hopes up after whats happened with figures like the Yeti.

    • booboo

      June 13th, 2021 - 7:13pm

Its real, and dont worry, the yeti “leak” bears no relation to any outcome of this years B&M sets which are signed sealed and done and dusted and on the boat, i dont even believe the yeti was was “cancelled” due to that image, i think there is much more to it than that.

Also Al Dewar doesn’t announce anything, timing is well and truly in the hands of BBC studios now and its probably not wise to drawer to much attention to any of this on here to be honest.

    • Popplewick

      June 13th, 2021 - 9:22pm

Ah good well never know then if this sensorites pack does well and the rumuored but as yet unseen Marinus pack which hopefully contains a couple of Voords, we might get Yeti and Pat in his furry coat next year , fingers crossed.

What’s the story behind the Yeti leak Booboo, I havnt heard anything?

    • The Loiterer

      June 16th, 2021 - 7:12am

The story goes that when a prototype yeti picture leaked, the angry rights owners –
who hadn’t been consulted – wreaked their vengeance by blocking it. So possibly not the most credible story you’ll hear, unless the Yeti rights had been purchased by Alan Klein (look ‘im up – he was rich enough to bear grudges like that).

If you’re a uk collector I’d say blue , as in the US exclusive . Red was made for UK distribution and stock still is available on Amazon etc, often with prices lowering to try to sell the remaining stock . Blue, being a US exclusive , isn’t as readily available to a uk buyer unless purchasing through Amazon US or from a uk seller who’s bought it from the US. On that merit I would say the blue version 🙂 if you’re referring to the navy original figure I would say that over the red considering it’s an older release and obviously the different packaging style sets it aside from the newer wave 🙂

NONE!!…… That’s why her figure is always on clearance! Until they make the “Ret-Con 13th Doctor exclusive set with special, interchangeable death head and TARDIS which converts to coffin to be placed in Trenzalore! Or Exploding 13th Doctor, with 2 M-80 FIREWORKS included, 1, made to look like and resemble K9, and the other made to attach to the Doctor figure! Just light the 2 fireworks (parental guidance is suggested), light the fireworks and watch the best and most exciting thing to ever happen to the 13th Doctor!!…. Her death and regeneration into another man who is politically incorrect, unapologetic, and is not afraid to love his country and planet of Galifrey, which caused the citizens to call him something from Earth’s 20th Century wars. A term which was equivalent to calling someone a Dalek!!! That term…. Well, the Doctor was called a Dalek, a white Supremacist and TBE Earth term NAZI, all for just loving Galifrey and putting it first which, turns out, everything the master said to the Doctor last season was a LIE, AND EVERYTHING HE SHOWED HER, was a holographic fake imagery, so Galifrey was never destroyed and the master and being called a v as White supremacist for loving Galifrey

    • booboo

      Yes its changed

BBC as in Programmes combined with BBC Worldwide as in Merchandise to become one unit – BBC Studios.

Since then people cant have failed to have noticed for the most part Doctor Who merchandise is announced on their (1m + followers) social media channels first, presumably to support their licence holders which they rarely did before.
