Doctor Who: Cyberman Box Set DVD

dvd-cybermensetDoctor Who: Cyberman Box Set DVD

Revenge of the Cybermen: The time ring takes the Doctor, Sarah and Harry back to Nerva, but to a period many thousands of years earlier than their previous visit. This is Voga, also known as the planet of gold as that metal can be found in abundance there. The three friends learn that a space plague has killed all but a handful of Nerva’s crew. A visiting civilian scientist named Kellman is in fact a traitor working with a group of Cybermen who want to destroy Voga as gold dust can coat their breathing apparatus and suffocate them. Can the Doctor stop them?

Silver Nemesis: The Doctor and Ace visit England in 1988, where three rival factions – the Cybermen, a group of Nazis and a 17th Century sorceress named Lady Peinforte – are attempting to gain control of a statue made of a living metal, validium, that was created by Rassilon as the ultimate defence for Gallifrey. Can the Doctor plays the three factions off against one other and eventually defeat to the Cyber Leader?

got this ages ago, revenge of the cybermen might have been better if it were released on it’s own as silver nemesis wasn’t the best episode which kinda lets the boxset down. and revenge of the cybermen needs more special features!

-Watched some of the Silver Nemesis on youtube and believe me, I was convinced this is not the episode for my DVD rack. The Cybermen get practicly ASSAULTED AND SLAUGHTERED thruout the whole story, their ship gets blown up, Ace single handedly runs up and down the place and takes out the whole squad including the Leader, and the episode overall just puts them to shame they ARE the least imposing adversary and threat in this whole stroy. And they all get wiped out by the episodes end.
Youve got Cybermen against humans, the Cybers are obsolete.

“I watched revenge of the cybermen a few years ago when it repeated and it is brilliant! Cybermen stories are always four parts”
Oh really? What about the Tenth Planet, the Moonbase, the Wheel in Space, the Invasion,SilverNemesis3parts, Cybusmen stories, Age of steel, Doomsday etc, The Next Doctor, and then they return in The Pandorica opens Series 5 finale, which is not four parts long either. Y’know, I dont think you could say they’re ALWAYS four parts long, but then most Dr Who storys are.

“what would you recomend this or the beneath the surface boxset”
WHATCHOOTALKINBOUT ? Two completely different boxsets, no one can tell you which of them to choose, and why cannot you just hav both, and really if you want to figure out which of them youd prefer, your better to do some research, the special feature-descriptions will be listed on most online stores, I recommend amazon for Dr Who DVDs, but NOT for action figures, the FP exclusives there are like 75 quid.

This is a great DVD boxset and really worth getting. Revenge of the Cybermen is a wonderful early Fourth Doctor story with companions Sarah and Harry. Silver Nemesis with the Seventh Doctor and Ace was actually more entertaining than I remembered. The action scenes in particular are well done especially. Two fairly good Cybermen stories here, although what links them both is the fact they show Cybermen weakness to Gold more clearly in these two stories than in fact any other Cyber tales.
    Revenge of the Cybermen 4/5.
    Silver Nemesis 3/5.
