Doctor Who Adventures Magazine Moves to Panini

Doctor Who Adventures, the UK-published magazine aimed at younger Doctor Who fans, is to move publishers to Panini UK from next month, where it will become a stablemate of Panini’s existing Doctor Who Magazine.
DWM editor Tom Spilsbury confirmed the news on the Gallifrey Base Doctor Who fan forum this evening, stating that the first Panini issue will appear on the 23rd of April, with an advert to appear in the new issue of DWM due out later this week.
DWA began life in 2006, during the first wave of popular success for the revived Doctor Who, and was initially published by BBC Worldwide, the Corporation’s own commercial subsidiary. Like most of Worldwide’s magazine output, it was sold off to Immediate Media in 2011, who have published the title until this point. Initially a fortnightly title, its success saw it increased to weekly publication from issue 47.
However, DWA has seen a marked decrease in circulation figures over the past five years, selling an average of just under 20,000 copies per issue in the first half of 2014, as opposed to over 50,000 for the same period in 2010 (see our previous story). It has also decreased in publication frequency from a weekly back to a fortnightly and then a monthly title.

March 31st, 2015 - 10:40amVery interesting. The link has some informative info on the re-launch of DWA with Panini. It look’s like a change in personnel with some new fantastic artwork (Which is not such a bad thing compared to the current dire artist) particularly after looking at the new work shown on the 12th. Doctor.
I see that DWA # 363 is the last available, when they re-launch again from DWA # 1 on the 23rd. April. Hopefully the revamp will stop circulation falling any further?

The core fan market that DWM have enjoyed over the years is not that variable very different to the target audience for DWA
Most of the negativity towards DWA has come from people who who have outgrown it or not in the age group its aimed at
There should be new waves of buyers coming along each year as the older ones drop of, thats what doesn’t seem to have been happening

March 31st, 2015 - 1:18pmI get the DWA and DWM every month. I had the DWM from issue 2 way back when it first started in the late 70’s and the DWA from issue 1 and im in my 40’s but I find the DWA easyer to understand and read becuse of the dyslexia. May they keep them going.

April 1st, 2015 - 2:00pmI like DWA as well,mostly because of my….ehem,short attention span….yeah,let’s call it that,lol…..but I sometimes get DWM as well,it’s just harder for me to get through,but it has lots of great pictures and that helps. I’m not stupid,exactly,just have a hard time focusing on things and concentrating long enough to read anything,it’s usually at it’s worst when I’m hyper or overexcited,lol! But I love comics and mags,over books,so DWA and DWM are just perfect.
