Doctor Who 5.5″ 8th Doctor Action Figure

“I love humans. Always seeing patterns in things that aren’t there.”

The Eighth Doctor was an effortlessly charming, romantic figure. He was unguarded about his background and equally candid about what the future held for people he came into contact with.

8th-doctor-3750

Includes..

  • Sonic Screwdriver Accessory
  • Karn Chalice Accessory (Cup O’ Karn)
  • Cass’s Bandolier Accessory (removable)

It seems ironic that so much about this open Doctor remains a closed book…His first adventure took place in San Francisco at the turn of the Millennium with Dr Grace Holloway and Chang Lee in an epic battle with the Master.

8th-doctor-box7501

Much later, after many adventures with many companions, the 8th Doctors fate is finally sealed during the Time War, as he attempts to rescue a pilot, Cass, whose ship was crashing into the planet Karn.

When Cass realized that the Doctor was a Time Lord and her enemy, she refused his help and allowed the ship crash.

I hope the bandolier is removable! After all, the Eighth Doctor never wore it – it was put on by the War Doctor after his regeneration. If it’s not that means this is our second figure of The War Doctor with Paul McGann’s face!

It looks removable to me; if you lift his arms up it should easily come off so long as it isn’t glued on (it is listed as an accessory so this is unlikely)

Why does FPI get all the 5″ figures? They should be avalabile in all stores. Not too sure why FPI always get them :/

I think its more the other way round….FPI are one of only 2 or 3 chains that are willing to stock DW 5 inch figures…we know this line failed in the mass retail market after Woolies went down the drain. Without exclusivity deals with FP, FPI and TRU…we wouldn’t see any new 5 inch figures.

Cancelled my Purple 12th Doctor and Curator and re-ordered them with 2 8th Doctors and Clara….that way the £5 P&P seems a little more fair.

Order a second 8th Doctor to customise into a young (anjd scuffed up) War doctor.

Placing that order was the most exciting 5 minutes of my day. Truth be told, I am not excitied at all about the 12th Doctor and Clara repaints but as a collector, I have ordered them…and if those repaints allow CO to produce things like the Curator and 8th Doctor….then so be it….I just hope these are not out of scale….it will be more noticable with the 8th Doctor as he is a rather short fellow.

Call them to cancel and they will do it there and then – you will get an email confirming the cancellation within minutes.

I then go on line and re-order with the additional items. The postage does increase when the order goes over certain costs but I ordered five items and it was still £5 p&p.

    • DoctorSong2016

      October 11th, 2015 - 3:10pm

i must admit it is mildly irritating that the US are getting everything first, I mean ive heard they have everything now while we only have 3 12th Doctors, I don’t mind if they are both being shipped and either we have a delay or it just gets to US first but they have everything and weve got 1 figure plus variants

    • Cyberman Bill

      October 12th, 2015 - 3:09am

The UK always gets things first. Every once in a while the US gets it. It shouldn’t be irritating, unless you are a child. Just be glad they are being announced. I live in the US and I have to usually order things from England. I don’t complain. It shouldn’t annoy you or make you mad….. It should make you smile and be glad that they are even releasing these figures.

    • booboo

      October 12th, 2015 - 7:44am

the problem is collectors do want their items asap and it is irritating for many, its the nature of collecting, and it has been very frustrating for UK collectors recently seeing items they want on sale weeks before in the USA or in the Past Australia, its only Missy that has arrived here 1st (if in fact it does)

Not one 5″ new figure has arrived in the UK 1st now for years, although that may soon change possibly

    • Anonymous

      October 12th, 2015 - 3:51am

At least you guys have some new figures. No Australian sites that I’ve looked on have them, unless you pay ridiculous postage costs from the US or UK through ebay. Plus the ABC Shops here are closing down, so all we’ll have is the online store. It’s so unfair. Australia has a huge Doctor Who fanbase. These figures need to come to Australia, especially the Capaldi, Mcgann, and Gomez figures.

    • Just Passing Through

      October 12th, 2015 - 6:28am

Yeah it is rather unfortunate that Australia is so isolated when it comes to Doctor Who figures and stuff along those lines. I’m just glad that I’ve got friends and relatives in England who know how much of a Doctor Who addict/collector I am.

It’s amazing what a few emails and some dollar signs can do to change a person’s mind 😛

    • booboo

      October 12th, 2015 - 7:10am

must admit I would be interested to know what’s happened to the distribution in Australia, something has clearly changed as it wasn’t an issue until recently

Has anyone actually ask IKon the reason?

I always thought the market was quite strong in Australia

    • Anonymous

      October 12th, 2015 - 8:35am

Well it just seems to be the 5 inch figures that are the main problem. We haven’t had any new ones in ABC Shops since The War Doctor figure. I had to order the Time of the Doctor set online, and I didn’t bother with the Impossible Set because it cost too much. I keep checking Ikon, but nothing new as of yet, same with the Sherlock 5 inch figure. Hoping we may get some new figures as it gets closer to the Doctor Who Sydney Festival in November, but maybe Ikon will get new stuff in by the March and April period next year, like in some American stores.

    • booboo

      October 12th, 2015 - 8:53am

All the stuff you are not getting was distributed by Underground Toys so something has changed there

      Someone must know why

Many Many people ordered the time of the Doctor set in the UK from pop Cultcha i know because it was actually cheaper and they got it at least months earlier

    • Just Passing Through

      October 13th, 2015 - 6:45am

If anything Pop Cultcha is kind of falling behind when it comes to Doctor Who merchandise now. I check their site regularly but there doesn’t seem to be too much when it comes to new figures and other stuff along those lines. Don’t get me wrong, I think they’re great, but most things Doctor Who related you have to find on other online locations now.

      October 11th, 2015 - 11:48am

Yeah, maybe cuts and wounds would be a bit much for children

    • cyberdoctor42

      October 11th, 2015 - 11:57am

You could easily add some wounds with a knife and some red paint

    • TheDarkAndTheLight

      October 11th, 2015 - 12:20pm

A wounded version would limit it to being specifically post-crash ‘Night of the Doctor’ Eight, whereas this could potentially be him at any point in his life after Doom Coalition. Also, think back to the ‘End of Time’ Ten they released. I don’t think I was alone in wishing that they had just released the new Tennant head sculpt as uninjured, especially now that it has since made two more appearances on figures with the addition of glasses, leaving us still without a standard version.

    • The Foretold

      October 12th, 2015 - 1:43pm

It would’ve been cool if they used the version of the head that came with The War Doctor, making the two sets compatible. However, given they’ve gone to the effort of creating a brand new head, I prefer the regular head without wounds.

This is one of those figures that could do with a light, black wash to bring out the detail and make it look a bit more dirty. The 8th Doctor was covered in ash, soot and dirt before he regenerated.

I am hoping for a 12th doctor with waistcoat/cardigan available with both an open and closed jacket – Scupts can also be redeployed with paint apps capturing the doctors new velvet jacket.

Head swappable feature so collectors can mount their favourite scupt.

Not sure we will ever see the TV movie seventh doctor (straight faced with hat), master (in time lord robes) or grace sadly.

I did wonder given the day of the doctor if there would be a 10th doctor re-release.
Really pleased we have had a war doctor, eighth doctor, TOTD set, curator and missy

I must confess is the only one of the above I have not ordered is the curator so far.
      The curator looks excellent.
I have a white shirt 12th doctor and might pick up the purple and final variant when released.

I cannot overstate my encouragement for this range and I am so happy for fans and collectors that despite the struggling scale that a reboot has been engineered and these figures have been made available 🙂
