I never realised there was going to be an SJA Board Game, I would have got it (If it had been released). I don’t know why this stuff never caught on.

It was marketed all wrong, the packing especially the figures and accessories looked like merchandise aimed at girls, most of the shops put them the girls toys section so it never got the full exposure it deserved

The separation of the Church of England (or Anglican Church) from Rome under Henry VIII, beginning in 1529 and completed in 1536

straight from wiki and it clearly says it completed in 1529, 24 years before this story is set! How was jane henry the eights ancestor if the Mary who replaced her was henrys daughter

Actually, the Reformation ended in the mid-1600s, and Queen Jane is the ancestor of Henry VII, who was the first of the Tudors. Henry VIII (Henry VII’s son) and his children (except Queen Mary, who was Catholic) formed the Anglican religion in England.

I understand where you’re coming from though, but the comment was said during a time when the Catholic religion wasn’t very interested in the religious welfare of its followers.

btw the reformation in the catholic church ended in the early 1500s and this is set in 1553 so this takes place after the catholic reformation

The Catholic Church was “treacherous” and very unholy

That was a small minority of catholic leaders, the majority were good people. And I mean you cant go around calling the catholic church unholy and treachorous nowadays! Its unacceptable and sectarian! I And i mainly mean the offence it caused in my country because it is because of views like this and people speaking out loud with them and being sectarian towards catholics that flung northern Ireland into a civil War resulting in the death 4000 people!

BTW that was me in the last post.
Some groups who saw how bad the Church was were also formed, like the Jesuits, and they helped to change and make the Church better. Of course, the Catholic Church has changed greatly since then, and I wouldn’t look at it as “treacherous” in these times, although some people have different opinions. Most people (it’d be very silly if you didn’t) would definitely call the pre-Reformation Catholic Church nonreligious; priests weren’t educated and they cared more about items in everyday life rather than in…

DalekThay, the time Rani is in is during the Reformation, which is when the Catholic Church reformed itself. The Catholic Church was “treacherous” and very unholy. Priests and bishops bought positions in the Church, and they gave places in the Church to family members. Bishops even had more than one diocese. This is the time when many new religions were formed, like Protestantism and Calvinism (it became known as Presbyterianism in Scotland).
    CONTINUES IN NEXT POST.

I must say i was rather offended by SJA yesterday heres why, I live in Northern Ireland and Im Catholic and consider myself Irish. I was shocked when I heard Janes’ maid/nurse describe catholics of that time as treachorous. And I have seen my country torn apart by sectarianism and remarks like this, and it disguists me that it was broadcast on a childrens TV Channel, watched by many children who will now see catholics as evil people because of their portrayal in this episode, shame on the BBC and Shame on Russell T.Davies

I would have bought one, i think it a real pitty the merchandise for SJA doesn’t appear to have taken of, the figure sets were excellent at the end of the day .
