Interestingly, when in the Millennium Centre yesterday I saw one single Doctor Who mug with the same branding and style guide ‘Doctor Who Universe’. There was only one, the rest were diamond packaging, maybe a running change since the mugs inside were the same.

I’m thinking, they will use this Doctor Who Universe style guide for anything 1-12, then have another style guide for 13. As for the Collector Series style guide, who knows, it may become part of the 13th Doctor branding, just with a new logo.

To me, they should just stick to one logo, but at best, stick to two, to distinguish pre 13th Doctor items etc. If the public are seeing so many different logos and branding styles they will not associate anything with Doctor Who.

    “Doctor Who Universe”…

Is this the start of a re-brand for the entire show’s merchandise? Seems a good idea. A way of fitting the whole 50+ years into one category.

could be, no doubt there will be completely new branding for the 13th doctor and this may be the style design for everything before her now

to be honest the branding has been all over the place in the last few years

No, is not the start. I first saw it on mugs back in March or earlier in HMV. Then in Cardiff, I saw three different retailers with DWU mugs in April. There was more than 2 by then, and the range is growing.

I am not sure where the brand is going though. It does not always appear to be comic, as a new one I saw last week was the design/pattern of a jumper. I held the cake in Asda today (£11 – will get one another time when I can find a perfect box).

However, if DWU is only to relate to Drs 10,11 and 12, I have no issue with that as 8th Dr and War Dr were only one story and 9th was only one season. At least these three span more than 10 years which should cover all post-1989 newcomers as well as hopefully garner the next generation.

Is this a classic TARDIS? Looks like the one from “Twice Upon a Time”.

Its just a general TARDIS. Its not at all accurate to any TARDIS prop.

This is great news that Asda are still producing cakes after all this time. I will buy one to keep (and possibly one to eat also). Yes it is incredibly difficult keeping Doctor Who cakes. I have them going back 10 years.

That thick coating alone is enough to put me off cake, even if it just sponge.

Do what I do with Christmas cake: Eat the cake & discard the marzipan & icing layer!

It is a raspberry jam sponge cake for anyone wondering.

I really like the look of this. Both the cake itself and the packaging look great.

I remember having a TARDIS cake for my birthday a few years back & it turned everyone’s tongues blue. 🙂
