Doctor Who: Summer Falls

summer-fallsDoctor Who: Summer Falls

This book features in The Bells Of Saint John

In the seaside village of Watchcombe, young Kate is determined to make the most of her last week of summer holiday.

But when she discovers a mysterious painting entitled ‘The Lord of Winter’ in a charity shop, it leads her on an adventure she never could have planned. Kate soon realises the old seacape, painted long ago by an eccentric local artist, is actually a puzzle.

And with the help of some bizarre new acquaintances – including a museum curator’s magical cat, a miserable neighbour, and a lonely boy – she plans on solving it. And then, one morning Kate wakes up to a world changed forever. For the Lord of Winter is coming – and Kate has a very important decision to make.

Summer Falls, a book written by Amelia Williams (yeah, right), is featured at the beginning of “The Bells of St John”, being read by Artie, one of the children taken care of by Clara (as played by Jenna-Louise Coleman).

Doctor Who: Summer Falls by Amelia Williams is published by BBC Books on Thursday 4 April priced £1.99.

Amy did publish river’s book about the angels so it’s not unlikely that she became an author

Well, the book she published was written by River. The only thing Amy wrote was the afterword. Afterwords don’t make authors, I think.

But Amy presumably enjoyed writing and was a good writer as in the episode The Power of Three she tells the doctor that she writes travel articles for magazines, so it’s fairly likely that she did become an author and write Summer Falls after the angels sent her back in time 🙂

tell me about it, really annoys me and the response from most people is “get with the times”. i actually can’t read kindles. they give me a migraine so i have no choice and it’s that lack of choice that really annoys me. I’ve collected who books since i was 9, i’m 43 this november, so you can perhaps understand why i prefer real books to emphemeral electronic data!

Yes it would be logical to print is as a book and make an e-book but it is cheaper.

Amelia Williams? Amelia Pond you mean! They kept Amy’s surname. Her grave had the same mistake on it aswell. (This is if they’re on about the same Amy.)

Yes 80 pages, so no more than 7-8 pages per chapter, and that’s if chapter 11 is the last one.

The next episode comes out 2 days after the book, I think this book is going to have more plot, something like what was in “The Angel’s Kiss” when they read it in the episode

When Matt Smith was asked to give a clue about the 50th anniversary Episode of Doctor Who By Jonathan Ross he said ‘Paintings’. I wonder if the Lord of Winter is linked at all?

    • The Silence

      March 26th, 2013 - 11:44pm

It’s April 3rd and it’s because of the debut of Matt Smith in ‘The Eleventh Hour’ where he ate fish fingers and custard, which is apparently very nice although I’ve never tried it.

What is it? is it like a quick read? It could be an ebook, like the Angels Kiss and the Devil in the Smoke. Also, who is it really written by?

If it features in the episode I am guessing it might be written by Steven Moffat as he wrote the ep. Also going by the £1.99 price must be a quick read
