Big Finish 12th Doctor Chronicles has been confirmed by Jake Dudman on Instagram. Will be excited to see who joins him! Will most likely be Never (Vastra) or possibly Michelle (Missy).

When can we have the real 12 in big finish?

      May 9th, 2019 - 12:20am

In a few years. Capaldi has only just left the role, presumably he wants to have a bit of a break before he decides to return. I don’t think we’ll see 12DAs until the 14th Doctor is on TV.

I wonder if we could get a proper series like the fourth doctor adventures but with 12. Is Capaldi as busy as Tennant? I know Jenna might be busy with Victoria and other programmes but Capaldi could get a new companion or if Pearl and Matt are available, an extension to series 10.

It probably won’t be Vastra or Missy as they’re two more high profile characters than who normally appear in the Doctor Chronicles.

The biggest character to appear so far has been Jackie, or perhaps Christina if you take into account the fact that she got her own series not long after.

I’d hazard a guess and say we’ll probably end up seeing Perkins appear as he was a popular character and Frank Skinner has done some work with BF. The other character is probably gonna be Psi, Saibra or maybe even Clara’s Gran as all those actors work with BF. Danny Pink or Courtney Woods could also be a fair shout, but I wouldn’t expect to see Missy, UNIT or the Paternoster Gang.

there does seem to be a lot more “secrecy” than previous years

trying to find out if they will get some sort of “official announcement” this time around

    • Anonymous

      May 7th, 2019 - 10:35am

I don’t suppose there’s any new moulded figures maybe like a cyberman and character have decided to sell those in b&m or are the 2 packs like a rerun of the doctor dalek packs (very wishful thinking but I can’t think what else it’ll be if it’s a new line)

    • The Outcast

      May 7th, 2019 - 10:37am

I’m excited to find out about these special packs of two figures each. Gut feeling is that they’ll be Dalek packs. Daleks are more expensive to produce and larger, so having only two in a pack instead of three makes sense.

As for the TARDIS sets, I believe we’ll be getting a Season 17 4th Doctor and TARDIS set and a 5th Doctor and TARDIS set.

Hope we find out what they are soon.

    • EndlessTimelord

      May 7th, 2019 - 12:03pm

“all looking rather lovely and even where figures have been released before there are new bits and bobs and tweaks … ”

Not getting hopes up but does this imply brand new (possibly unreleased) figures??

    • booboo

      May 7th, 2019 - 12:29pm

its possible i suppose, if they are able to use existing parts and say just a new head sculpt, or unreleased head sculpt.

of course we don’t know how many tooled but unreleased figures may be lurking around. Remember when Korwin came out of nowhere in a Tesco set

    • the 14th doctor

      May 7th, 2019 - 12:43pm

oh how exciting, i will have to pick carefully though as i have just spent most of my pocket money on the season 10 blu-ray.

if they do release previously unreleased figures i would love to see a set of the 2nd doctor in fur coat and yeti as i think there was a prototypes of these figures.

    • booboo

      May 7th, 2019 - 12:47pm

love to be proved wrong but i don’t think the yeti was fully tooled and is big lump of plastic and to costly but that’s many peoples “dream set” with Jamie

    • The Outcast

      May 7th, 2019 - 1:10pm

I don’t think we’re gonna get any entirely new figures, but I could be wrong. I’d like to see Andy Flood or Fur Coat 2, but I don’t think they were ever fully tooled.

I do think we might see some nice rare Daleks though. 🙂

Oooo maybe it’ll be 3 series 11 two packs!!

      Yaz with Thijarian
      Ryan with Sniperbot
Graham with Grace or Tzim Sha

    • booboo

      May 7th, 2019 - 3:02pm

sadly not, although i do believe they are trying to get the companions released separately otherwise don’t think we will see them until next year, if at all.

Do you know what the packs are Booboo?

    • booboo

      May 7th, 2019 - 3:49pm

No, lots of things were mentioned but i have no idea what the final mix will be. I think there maybe some expected surprises though.

Not sure at the moment how and when we will find out though. Suppose that maybe down to B&M.

They are in production so i cant see why they couldn’t be announced unless they have some big PR plans

    • WhovianLife

Booboo seen as you never really get asked what would you like to see in these? ☺️

    • booboo

      May 8th, 2019 - 2:59pm

difficult as we have every figure ever (apart from the vespiform)

Probably 4th Doctor from terror of the Zygons, Fur coated Trougton for sure

5th Doctor Tardis obviously and i have sneaky feeling what may be with that (no i’m not saying).

For many re-releases of things like silver Nemesis cybermen would be good.

I have a feeling these 2 packs will surprise (in a good way) people though.

    • booboo

      May 8th, 2019 - 5:09pm

depends what you class as a companion, but i really don’t know what made it into these sets, just if things worked out people will be highly delighted and surprised i’m sure.

Just wish some pics / info would drop into our inbox, down to PR i think when and how we get to find out exact contents, i’m as exited to see them as anyone else.

    • WhovianLife

      May 8th, 2019 - 5:37pm

Would a Donna in Wedding Dress be a possible figure Booboo? as that was a prototype! And maybe Jeremy Baines/Son of Mine? as that was also a prototype!

    • booboo

      May 8th, 2019 - 5:46pm

depends if tooling exists, suspect anything “new” may involve existing body parts with the only cost being a head sculpt.

Lots could happen with that approach, yes its a comprise but better that than nothing.

I cant see anything completely new from top to bottom in these sets, budgets will be very very tight on these.

    • WhovianLife

      May 8th, 2019 - 5:52pm

The Nightmare in Silver Cyberman could be possible as all they need to do is Upscale the 3.75 body and then use the sculpt from the handles head but retooled!

    • booboo

      May 8th, 2019 - 6:02pm

i was always puzzled “back in the day” why we never got that Cyberman as it was an army builder and so many variants were possible

The existing “cad” could have been used for any size one would think but i don’t think tooling was ever done for 5.5″ so would probably rule that out is suppose.

    • WhovianLife

      May 8th, 2019 - 6:33pm

      I just thought,
Harold Melmacian (believe he works for Character) replied to Master Berryman on Twitter with “I’m in Hong Kong currently so you’ll need to wait till I’m back so I can help ‘give it a little ..push’. Would you like your new one to be with a purple shirt” I’m thinking MAYBE

      Thirteen Purple Top with Thijarian
Resolution Thirteen with Recon Scout Dalek
The Woman Who Fell To Earth Thirteen and Tzim Sha for the Three 2 packs??

    • booboo

      May 8th, 2019 - 6:44pm

news to me, yes Harold is from CO, no secret i think, and at the moment he is the only one who is likely to spill the beans on whats in these sets.

If true its far removed from what i was expecting though.

Can u give is any hints or teases as to what you’ve heard booboo, like episodes that its from or anything like that?

    • booboo

      May 9th, 2019 - 7:33am

the person who develops these sets isn’t really giving any big hints as to whats ended up in them, lost of classic stuff was involved though.

pretty sure no Daleks are involved though this time.

    • booboo

      May 10th, 2019 - 10:08am

problem is i genuinely don’t know whats actually ended up in these sets so they could be clues to things you wont get.

Only really the Fab14 on GB can do that and He’s not giving away anything right now

I do now think we will get some “new” figures (as in perhaps just a head sculpt but body parts from existing Who/primeval figures) and i think they will be extremely desirable but not mainstream.
reading around some people are expecting a little to much though i cant see any all new top to bottom figures happening

    • booboo

      May 10th, 2019 - 6:43pm

I honestly don’t think Daleks are involved this time around, news i think will come now via official press release from Co’s PR company possibly.

I’m as desperate as anyone to find out if they really have been able to pull a rabbit out of the hat with these 2 figure sets.

( but some people are still expecting far to much to be honest)

What’s special and different that it deserves a new line of 2 packs

    • booboo

      May 10th, 2019 - 6:58pm

presumably they will go beyond just tweaks and repaints into new territory

    • TORCHWOODFAN1

      May 10th, 2019 - 10:16pm

do you have any predictions booboo- not clues- I mean things you’re completely unaware of what they could be- what new territory? B&M sets that have figures with new head sculpts?

    • booboo

      May 11th, 2019 - 9:17am

that’s what i imagine, a very good variant of some sort and a possible new head on existing body parts

we don’t know how many scans /sculpts were actually done back in the good old days that were never released

    • Anonymous

      May 10th, 2019 - 10:54pm

Hopefully there’s a two pack of Bill and Heather!

    • SJF

      May 10th, 2019 - 11:08pm

I really don’t expect any potential new parts to be anything other than Doctors or companions, or perhaps major villains like the Master or Cybermen.

Even then if it were to happen, it’d have to be mostly reused parts.

    • WhovianLife

      May 11th, 2019 - 12:40am

If they are just going with new head sculpts they could make a Turlough out of a New Head Sculpt and use the Primeval James Lester body!

    • The 14th Doctor

      May 11th, 2019 - 10:15am

how possible is a terror of the zygons set? it could contain: the unreleased prototype of the 4th doctor in his highland costume from when he just arrived, a re release of the brig from the daemons (he could maybe have the puled up socks as seen on a prototype figure) and a re release of the zygon figure.

    • booboo

      May 11th, 2019 - 10:43am

highly desirable 4th Doctor that one i think, its been said even releases will have some tweaks of sorts

    • Luck4Unow

      May 11th, 2019 - 6:32pm

I would love for some of these “new” figures to be classic companions, even if in is just a new sculpt on existing pieces.

The First, Second and Fifth Doctors are particularly lonely in their 5″ adventures.

A Jamie or Ian and Barbara or Tegan would be very welcome additions.

This may be a dark horse- but perhaps even a Harry Sullivan is possible with an Editor body? A Romana if the parts are already around?

    • booboo

      May 11th, 2019 - 6:38pm

One of two “interesting” suggestions there…..

Just hope we get to find out soon.

    • Who Knows

      May 11th, 2019 - 6:46pm

It would be cruel if they didn’t put out promo images of the new sets this month – given all the teases they have been throwing out on social media recently.

    • booboo

      May 11th, 2019 - 7:00pm

last year the pictures came to us from B&M which won’t happen now, I suspect if the come they will be from CO’s PR company.

B&M don’t advertise these and they have never put either Tardis Set on their website but the “social media frenzy” surrounding these sets plays a big part in their success to be perfectly honest.

The “where to find” the 3rd doctor Tardis page is one of the most visited pages ever on this site with 10’s of thousands of visitors.

    • Who Knows

      May 12th, 2019 - 12:22am

Well “Character” should consider doing it sooner than later – it’s getting to the point where people are speculating way too much into it from the teasers . . . If they drop out the promo info/pictures this month that then gives time for us to “fan girl” over the sets and more people to acknowledge the sets prior to them coming out.

    • booboo

      May 12th, 2019 - 8:50am

maybe down to B&M though to give the OK to distribute pictures.

    • Who Knows

      May 12th, 2019 - 12:26am

They should be playing it like they did last year – those promo images came out from nowhere and it was a astonishing surprise because of that.

    • booboo

      May 12th, 2019 - 8:53am

despite the teases i still think one or two will be an “astonishing surprise” as long as people realise the budget limitations of these sets, i’m still seeing what i think are way of the mark exceptions to be honest.

    • The Outcast

      May 12th, 2019 - 11:49am

    re the missing episodes.

Apart from animated reconstructions, audio releases or novels, have any publishers produced comic strip versions of the missing stories? In other words, have there been any graphic novels done?

If not, there’s a lot of talented artists out there and a series of hardbacks covering the missing material just might be appealing enough to a lot of people. A lot of work needed of course but just might be faster than the periodic animated releases.

The Daleks’ Master Plan was done unofficially but I think that’s it. Back in the 80s, fanzine DWB were planning to do strip adaptations of TV stories, but they only did Pyramids of Mars due to negative feedback from readers.

Hmmm, Marco polo as a graphic novel? Well it would look very pretty but there’s not a lot of story to fill it up. Also how close to the scripts can you go? Besides, if I want to read a missing story I’ll just read my target books

CEX give you about half of the value in cash and slightly more in store credit. Most of the classic series sell for £8 a volume so you could get £3-£4 per story. You can check the value on their website.

The last sets were never “officially announced”, only on this site, back then B&M talked to us and were happy to send us advanced pictures which they won’t be doing this time around.

First will will know is when they either arrive in-store, or there is some kind of official press release or someone from Character shows us pictures.

Sylvester McCoy’s official Facebook page says he’s filming something with Sophie Aldred today (but can’t say what). Given that it’s filming it could well be features for the Blu-Ray of any one of his seasons (including his first season if the feature is specifically for Dragonfire) which suggests a McCoy season might be upcoming?

As they’ve said countless times, they are trying to burn through as many extras as they can right now while the actors and crew are still with us. Many of the releases are still many years away.

Not to be too down here but bear in mind both colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy are 76 this year. I imagine they are getting them to do lots of extras for stuff that may be years away. (May they be with us for many years to come though)

i hope season 26 is next because 1) it is one of my favourite seasons. 2) because season 26 is more resent it would probably be easier to restore and make blu-ray quality.

    • Anonymous

      April 26th, 2019 - 7:37pm

No season can be raised to HD quality (audio can be improved, but visuals are stuck). The latter seasons have no footage at all that can be put out in HD as it’s all on video tape.

In fact Ghost Light is actually one of the poorest visual quality stories post-Pertwee.

    • Anonymous

      April 26th, 2019 - 8:49pm

Not sure how true that is, about season 26 being easier to update as it was the most recent. I do know that a lot of 80s shows used quite poor quality video tape compared to earlier years. Even so I’m sure restoration will be possible.

    • Anonymous

      April 27th, 2019 - 7:35pm

Ghost light can’t be improved as far as I’m aware. Go to the restoration team website and look at the ghost light DVD article as it explains the problem with it.

Can’t find instructions, but pretty sure you take the blue circle stickers off top and the screws are under there to change the batteries. Think this is the way but if someone else could confirm this too, before you take stickers off, just to make sure.

Matt Jones has now jacked in his job with Titan to pursue his solo career. I presume the upcoming Specials for NYCC/SDCC will be his last work for Titan. Will have to see which new designer is taking on the range next? Next Titan set is also released in the USA only. So could be the end of the Titan range in the UK?

What made it an even bigger problem is that they not only sold out fast, they forgot to allocate stock for the pre-orders so a lot of people who ordered in October got nothing, but people who ordered in December got in within days. Are they quite rare or unusual? Plus do you know how many of these types of figures were released?

    • Anonymous

      April 18th, 2019 - 9:17pm

Those figures you will find were American release’s only. From what I gather it was only about 2 cards that were released as Promotional Items for the USA Top Trumps market. Top Trumps now seem’s to have dropped their Dr Who range. Neither rare or unusual except the SDCC(?) ‘Time Crash’ Set.

    • The Flying Shark

      April 19th, 2019 - 9:01am

It was an incentive for the US market as Trumps are very popular over there. As far as I know though, there were very few released-the majority were Dalek Sec, possibly some others but not enough for a complete set.

Thank you very much for all your help, least that’s been cleared up now. As far as I know they only made a few of the character’s from the deck of that set.

In total I have about 9 of these figures from classic to series 4.

    • Necros Zoo

      April 26th, 2019 - 12:53pm

In the UK, single promotional ‘Super’ Trump cards were also given away with some of the DVD releases.

Characters that were featured included the Abzorbaloff, Dalek Sec, Laszlo, Davros, Professor River Song and Roman Rory (‘The Lone Centurion’). The back of each card was an advert for the corresponding set, so made them unsuitable for using with regular trump cards (you could spot the special promo card with it’s different back!).

    Hi

    Hope this ok to ask

Got a question for Doctor Who Fans. I have recently had to downsize property to a disability adapted bungalow due to my partners disabilities. Basically I have Doctor Who Merchandise including a Big Chief Studio TARDIS that I am no longer able to store or keep due to the downsize. I also am unable to post out item’s because of size and postage costs and the care that I need to give my partner. I was basically wondering what or where the best place to sell online or post ads to sell would be? I am sorry if this is the wrong place to ask and sorry at the length of this but I wanted to explain.

I would be very grateful for any help that could be offered in what to do

You can ignore anything Al Dewar says. If something has been leaked, then I guarantee you that he’s not going to confirm a leak.

In this case, I’m inclined to believe Al Dewar. I’ll believe a Tzim-Sha figure when I see it, but I’m not going to get my hopes up because of one unsubstantiated rumour, which probably came from someone seeing Ace Creeper’s custom and mistaking it for a proper figure.

      Ummm –

It’s got a great premise. But awful presentation
Some episodes are unneeded and the world building is awful, it doesn’t feel like it’s set the Doctor Who universe and has barely any connections to it. It also feels barley like a torchwood season. The characters are awful. And the resolution is so bad

      April 11th, 2019 - 5:31pm

I didn’t watch torchwood beyond about halfway through the first series. Really not for me but a friend loves it and her favourite is actually miracle day.

    • Anonymous

      April 11th, 2019 - 7:25pm

I think that Miracle Day is quite entertaining like Chirldren of Earth but I do prefer Children of Earth as it feels more epic, but I do like the characters and concepts brought up in Miracle Day, I also quite like the new world and categories of life and it feels cool for Bill Pullman to be in it no matter how weird his character is. Really it was just something I enjoyed, though it would have benefited from amy and Rory asking the doctor about it or at least referencing it at the start of lets kill Hitler

    • The Flying Shark

      April 11th, 2019 - 7:32pm

My headcanon for Amy and Rory not mentioning it is the Doctor returned them to Earth later than 2011-this adds up to later adventures like The Power of Three taking place around 2020.

    • Anonymous

      April 11th, 2019 - 8:11pm

But river took them home after AGMGTW as the doctor flies off, and when they meet again in lets kill Hitler Amy says to the doctor that hes had all summer to look for melody, which comes after April 2011, when they reunited in America, so it makes sense that amy is talking about the same year when she says all summer, plus they are still living in Leadworth at the time. Plus the newspaper that the doctor holds up is dated Saturday 27th August 2011, so there weren’t any time skips yet…

    • Anonymous

      April 11th, 2019 - 8:59pm

To be honest. I think it happened in a pocket universe where a version of the torchwood series happened but it’s not the one seen in season 1 – 3, with minor changes, this version also doesn’t have eleventh doctor and the tenth doctor never regenerated. I consider this set in the realm of big finish. Similar universes to doctor who but not exactly in it. It’s part of my understanding of the multiverse, there’s realities similar to ours revolving around us!. Also. I didn’t like most of it, but it was very entertaining to watch thought very distant from the rest of the Doctor Who universe

    • Anonymous

      April 11th, 2019 - 11:54pm

It’s set in a different reality from the first three series. A much altered reality where a much different version of the Who universe existed, and wasn’t affected by aliens. I mean Miracle Day feels like it’s in a completely different universe from Doctor Who in general. The first few series of Torchwood was a different side of that universe not a different one. I feel it’s a more like a loose continuation of the original torchwood series, but isn’t connected to doctor who at all bar a few references. It’s hard to explain. Basically A Torchwood only doctor who universe if it makes sense. Where a lot of doctor who events didn’t happen, but the doctor exists and a similar version of the events of torchwood happen but not the exact one we see in the series. Then you can enjoy it. But seriously it’s so distant from the rest of doctor who continuity is it even canon?
