Toy Fair 2019 News – Updated
Items on display at the Character Options stand included:
- 12th Doctors Sonic screwdriver
- 13th Doctors Sonic Screwdriver
- 13th Doctor 10” Doll figure
- 13th Doctor 5.5” figure
All the above items are already available in shops.
Of most interest was a new 3 figure companion set! 5.5” scale.
The TARDIS companion set contains:
- Graham
- Ryan
- Yaz
Although we’re not able to show you photographs at the moment, the sculpts looked excellent!
The figure set should be available mid year providing there is sufficient retailer interest.
The Thirteenth Doctors TARDIS is on hold at the moment. There may be more items to look out for much later in the year including some very exciting B&M sets.
Graham from “Arachnids In The UK”
Ryan and Yaz from “It Takes you Away”
Ryan’s coat will be closed so you only get to see the top of the blue shirt, Yaz’s hair will be in front like the top right screenshot.
After an absence of several years WOW stuff have a couple of new items (many more were planned but put back until later in the year or next year)
A sonic screwdriver with draw light (app required), This resin sonic is quite weighty with a good molten finish like the prop, all one piece. Similar in size to the seven20 version.
Also on offer is a virtual Tardis, Photograph it then fly it around on your phone, looks great fun!
Please note these are prototypes
Various already released Warlord Games items were on display on the Hornby stand and a few Pop’s on the Funko stand but nothing new.

April 23rd, 2019 - 9:14pmOr an Earthshock Cyberleader
The Outcast
April 24th, 2019 - 10:12amI’d say a few are good, but Mel, Rose and the Shadowkin… Wouldn’t work what so ever. They all require remoulds or trying to put two moulds which weren’t designed to be able to work together. And also, they’d look horrid and nothing like the characters they are meant to be.
Anonymous
April 24th, 2019 - 11:22amwill we ver get any daleks- would love a TMA/TWF set of repainted daleks so we can have more Capaldi figures on the shelf
Anonymous
April 24th, 2019 - 11:39amif character could make a 2013 cyberman, ice warrior and cyberman they would fill a big gap across series 7b-10 and they are army-building types of enemies where people would likely buy more than one each. I just cant understand why character didn’t take the leap and make this- they did all 3 as 3.75 inch figures and they were probably the ones that sold the best other than the daleks. I think they’d do well to make these figures.
Ice warrior good for series 7 and 10
Zygons good for 50th and series 9
Cyberman good across all 4 as they also briefly appeared in Hell Bent
A foretold, skovox blitzer or rusty would be good for series 8, (rusty for TUAT too)- these 3 are the most unlikely, but again they were made in 3.75 inch.
Repaints of classic daleks are good for series 9
Dalek with star for eye, Emojibot, Monk, Iraxxa, Mondasian Cyberman good for series 10 (again these are unlikely)
As for humans Clara from UTL/BTF is possible (new head sculpt on standard figure)
Nardole using a Winston Churchill body is possible
a ghost 12th doctor using the under the lake body sculpt
there are many variants of 12 that could be done- blue coat+black hoodie; black coat+red hoodie; red coat+blue hoodie; grey scuffed coat; black coat; they could also paint the waistcoat onto a figure or do a cheap remould for a waistcoat to be added.
Missy- messy hair (new head sculpt on standard figure)
I realise these will never be in a budget b&m set but I would be willing to pay 15-20 quid to see a NIS cyberman at the very least.
I have emailed Character with suggestions like this but I doubt they’ll take any notice…

booboo
February 12th, 2019 - 8:04ampossibly when they go up for pre-order if they got the go ahead unless someone from Character shows them are say its OK.
Doctor What
February 5th, 2019 - 1:18pmAccording to Twitter, Al Dewar who does a lot of character toys has posted a teaser picture of the Thirteenth Doctor’s TARDIS but apparently it’s being held back until the new series comes out in 2020 (although it could mean it hits shelves before Christmas to target the Christmas market, or won’t be released until the series is released in early 2020)

February 3rd, 2019 - 8:48pmDo you know when pictures of the Companions Set will be releases

January 30th, 2019 - 11:34pmGraham’s head can totally be repurposed to be the Valeyard!!! And Yaz is gonna rock it with my 8th Doctor figure
Anonymous
February 3rd, 2019 - 4:21amWho will Yaz be standing in for? Is it the one from the BF time war audio series?
SJF
February 3rd, 2019 - 10:19pmI imagine so, though Yaz and Bliss look nothing alike.
Guess it could be Anji from the books, they have exactly the same heritage (except Anji seems to be from a Hindu family that left the Punjab to go to India) and we don’t know what she actually looks like so she could be Yaz’s double for all we know.
Nigel
January 24th, 2019 - 6:17pmBooboo I’m surprised there hasn’t been leaked images

January 24th, 2019 - 6:21pmi’m not, closed stand and it was made very clear to be honest, that said someone might do it but you wont find us linking to it.

January 24th, 2019 - 5:21amBooboo do you reckon we’ll see electronic tardis’s with the B and M collector sets or are we only going to get non-electronic tardis’s if they are to release any more?
booboo
January 24th, 2019 - 8:02ami don’t know but i would imagine they would stay non electronic as would add to much to the cost for these type of sets
Anonymous
January 24th, 2019 - 5:03pmId say the general release 13th doctors tardis will be electronic
booboo
January 24th, 2019 - 5:11pmbound to be, but probably £25 on its own
Anonymous
January 23rd, 2019 - 4:27pmBooboo did you hear anything about the B&M sets or is that just a prediction?
booboo
January 23rd, 2019 - 4:58pmonly there are more sets coming, i don’t know the contents, i doubt they are finalised right now anyway
Anonymous
January 23rd, 2019 - 4:04pmIf there isn’t sufficient retailer interest why don’t they just sell them on their own website as most people tend to shop online than buy in a store that they have to travel a while to get to? For the same reason why don’t they do classic figures or new series cybermen that would probably sell well on their own website?
booboo
January 23rd, 2019 - 4:57pmOrders from retailers are guaranteed, making 8000 figures in the “hope” it sells isn’t wise probably.
Richard Phillips
January 23rd, 2019 - 3:49pmI’m really excited for this and the fact that it’s only £25 is amazing! I’d be happy if this was all we got, just so team TARDIS ‘18 is completed.
Though, I still do want that new TARDIS and the junkyard Dalek!
Merlin
January 23rd, 2019 - 8:32pmI’d love a Junkyard Dalek.
Anonymous
January 24th, 2019 - 2:09amWhat’s £25?
The companions set?
The Outcast
January 24th, 2019 - 9:42amYeah, the set is apparently going to be 25 quid, which is quite good considering the 13th Doctor figure is 13 quid.
Anonymous
January 24th, 2019 - 3:25pmOuch £25 for them! Mmmm
Anonymous
February 3rd, 2019 - 3:52am@Annonymous….. Ouch??? It should be more like “WOW or AMAZING……. That’s like 8£ a figure. 8£ for a BRAND NEW FIGURE we have never gotten before?? That’s a steal!! It’s cheaper than anything on the market today…… so try it!…. cmon, you can do it…… Start by Pursing your lips together and say “Wow”…. that’s an incredible Price!!….. see,… O knew you could do it!! (Lol!) ♂️♂️
Ian
January 23rd, 2019 - 3:22pmBooboo I have a theory. If the next B&M release is the 4th Doctors Tardis, do you think then the summer releases could be a 5th Doctors Tardis as they seem to be doing them in order?
booboo
January 23rd, 2019 - 3:44pmwell i’m sure there will be more Tardis sets coming so who knows
we know the 5th Doctor Tardis existed at one time so i suppose its possible
Who Knows
January 23rd, 2019 - 3:51pmThat’s a good observation Ian – fingers crossed, that’s the one set that I would like Character to bring out before they retire the range indefinitely.
prototype dalek
January 23rd, 2019 - 4:01pmWould make sense for a 5th Doctor Tardis considering the work was already previously done for it.
Who?
January 28th, 2019 - 4:29pmI think I’m about to start doing exactly that……
I wouldn’t pay 25p for them.
Anonymous
February 3rd, 2019 - 3:58am@Who?……. WHY?? That’s a huge bargain for new figures. That’s pretty much the price that 1 figure from any other company costs and you’re getting 3….. How is that bad or off-puting?? 25p is a GREAT price. That’s about how much 1 repainted Marvel Legends Figure. I guess you don’t want them bad enough. Also, remember…. Character is looking at the demand for these things…. if people don’t buy them they won’t get made and then we’ll have NOTI G!
Anonymous
January 23rd, 2019 - 10:35amSurely if there is any kind of market for three of the dullest companions to ever grace the series then you would think there would also be interest in classic companions and possibly monsters. This range only appeals to collectors now so there doesn’t seem much to gain by focussing on the present series, the B&M figures proving there is still some sort of market out there for older characters.
booboo
January 23rd, 2019 - 11:25ammass market retailers in general are not interested in classics, that was established long ago, they may however be interested in a set of figures that has just been on TV, its the way it works.
Also remember there is no easy USA market any longer, toys r us have gone, one of the biggest customers.
If there were sound viable ways of bringing new classics to market i’m sure they would be doing it.
Yogi_Bear
January 23rd, 2019 - 3:11pmWonder if theyre planning a ‘chase’ set to go with Bradley…your very own beasty Mark the evil Dr Sin(ha) frosty nicks and the (Dark) Destroyer himself…. Might liven up an otherwise dull release …..
Anonymous
January 23rd, 2019 - 4:31pmWhy the need to have a go? If the classic figures were commercially viable they would still be being produced. As boo boo says one of the problems is a lack of retailers rather than customers.
booboo
January 23rd, 2019 - 5:02pmI have never not bought a figure because i didn’t like the Character personally
Doctor Stu
January 23rd, 2019 - 9:53amSo are they new sculpts completely? Or is only the head new and the rest of the body is just recycled bits and pieces
booboo
January 23rd, 2019 - 10:11amcertainly recycled bits not sure exactly what though without ref photo’s.
I don’t think there is any way at all these would see the light of day if entirely new tooling was required for each figure.
I was surprised to see them at all to be honest, people will have their own opinions but on the shelf the sculpts look really good to me, some of the best I’ve seen.
BrunoB
January 23rd, 2019 - 10:31amThe set is really stunning!
Tyler Prescott
January 23rd, 2019 - 2:53pmI don’t see why it matters if they re-use parts for different figures. If it works, and it keeps costs down, great!
Anonymous
January 23rd, 2019 - 9:06amThey should make action figures of class.
Anonymous
January 23rd, 2019 - 9:17amThat would never sell. They struggle to sell the Doctor Who ones.
Sam
January 23rd, 2019 - 8:19amIf they’re doing 3 companion sets I wonder if they’ll ever do an Adric/Nyssa/Teagan or Susan/Barbara/Ian?
the 14th doctor
January 23rd, 2019 - 9:11amthat would be great!
The Outcast
January 23rd, 2019 - 9:56amWe probably won’t see that for a long time. If you hadn’t noticed, they don’t do Classics anymore due to them underselling. But perhaps the market for Who figures will increase and we’ll get more Classics at some point. Atleast, I’d like to think we’ll get more.
BrunoB
January 23rd, 2019 - 10:29amtoo expensive I think
Pusher
January 23rd, 2019 - 3:53amEver since series 8, the toy range has become so minuscule and barren, what happened to the massive wide ranging monster lineups along with daleks and cybermen variants left right and centre?
Back then the humanoid characters were a small part of the range, why are we so starved of the foes?
Dalek and cybermen re-releases and new varients please! at least!
booboo
January 23rd, 2019 - 8:26ammuch of what you mention were Underground Toys / Toys r us exclusive products neither of which exist now
Future B&M sets and any other retailer exclusives in the pipe line would not be on show here.
Tyler Prescott
January 23rd, 2019 - 2:55pmIf we’re going to have monsters or companions (which isn’t necessarily the case), as much as I love some of the monsters that haven’t been made, i’d prefer they did 13 and her companions first.
If you have them, you can make your own stories/animations set during or around Series 11. If you just had Jodie and a Dalek, you couldn’t do that.
Anonymous
January 25th, 2019 - 4:32pmActually you can. If you read 11th Doctor Comics, you might know Alice. This means that the Doctor doesn’t always travel with his companions.
A better example is Midnight actually, because the Doctor goes off to do something, while he lets Donna stay at that place.
However, I do think it would be more interesting with companions, because the Doctor would have someone to talk to.
However you could use other people. Imagine 13th and Martha* go on an adventure.
*I don’t know if there is a Martha Figure.
Demdike@CultLabs
January 22nd, 2019 - 11:45pmI realise you can’t say what the B&M news is but are we talking classic or Nu-Who?
booboo
January 23rd, 2019 - 8:23amboth but mostly classic i think, i dont know the contents at the moment
Geoff C
January 22nd, 2019 - 11:31pmNo new Pops at all?
booboo
January 23rd, 2019 - 8:22amnothing on show
Dominic
January 22nd, 2019 - 11:17pmWould rather have a figure of Nardole than Yaz, Ryan and Graham. AKA the most boring companions ever.
BrunoB
January 23rd, 2019 - 10:30amtough 😉
I’d rather have 3 figures than one
Anonymous
January 23rd, 2019 - 3:30pmIn your opinion. I however will buy them. And no companion will ever be as bad as Rose Tyler.
BadWolf99
January 23rd, 2019 - 8:21pmYet she is easily the most famous and awarded of all the companions…
Thomas Chapman
January 22nd, 2019 - 10:31pmThe clever thing about the outfit choices for This Companion set is that they can all be reused.
Yaz ‘s Costume (From ”It Takes you away”) in this set can be repainted to a number of new Varients –
= ”The Ghost Monument” – Orange Jumper, Black Jeans.
= ”Rosa” – Black Spotty Jumper, Black Jeans
= ”Arachnids In The UK” – Pink Jumper, Black Jeans.
= ” Battle Of Raskoor Av Kalos” – Green Top – Black Jeans.
Ryan’s Costume (From ”It Takes you away”) can be repainted also –
= ”The Ghost Monument” – Dark Blue Jacket, Light Blue Top, Light Brown Trousers.
= ” Rosa” – Dark Purple/Blue Jacket, Dark Navy Blue Top, Dark Cream Trousers.
= ” Demons of the Punjab” – Dark Blue Jacket, White Top, Grey Trousers.
= ” Battle Of Raskoor Av Kalos” – Green Jacket, Denim Blue Shirt, Burgundy Trousers.
Graham’s Costume (From ”Arachnids in the UK”) can’t be repainted as much but still –
= ”Kerblam” – Blue Jacket, Red Cardigan, Light Blue Shirt, Black Trousers.
= ” Battle Of Raskoor Av Kalos” – Dark Green Jacket, Burgandy Top, Cream Trousers.
Hopefully they will see that the sculpts will be worth the money that they can make in repaints.
Tyler Prescott
January 23rd, 2019 - 6:53amB&M do 3-packs, so maybe we’ll be getting them in their sets after they’ve released mainstream. The 13th Doctor’s outfit also looks very easy to repaint to match the episodes, it’s maninly just a different colour of T-Shirt.
