What do you mean 5″? In the 5″ scale or literally 5″?

    • booboo

      January 21st, 2015 - 7:15am

5β€³ scale so its quite big, nice new product so i hope it takes off which it should

has the novelty value and will appeal to Tardis collectors so can cover several markets

Arggh! Where the 5 inch figures! I just heard that Character Options is doing 5 inch figures for Sherlock, but where are the classic Dr Who figures?! I hope, God-willing, they will make new classic figures from classic Dr Who.

Anyone has heard any news on new classic figures?

anything 5β€³ is exclusive to someone now so they are not going to show it a trade fair to retailers who cant buy it

    • booboo

      January 21st, 2015 - 9:57am

Character Options are not doing Sherlock, Underground toys are, not the same

and 5″ Doctor Who items are generally exclusive so would not be shown at an event like this

you would not see any (5″ or 3.75″ ) already agreed toys r us. Argos, BBC shop or forbidden Planet exclusives here.

Is it true that character building doctor who has been discontinued? Noooooo!!!!!!! If the new Time Squad figures are actually being released the first i want are the 11th doctor and clara. Have no interest in the twelve doctor at all. Just looks like a toy of an old man, couldnt they have done the war doctor instead?

It would have been nice to get sets of time squad figures like before where I was 5 figures for Β£10.

    Id have liked to see
Set 1: Twelfth doctor, Clara, Cyberman, Missy, The Teller
Set 2: Eleventh Doctor, Amy, Silurian, paradigm dalek, silent
Set 3: Tenth Doctor, Donna, Martha, The Master, Cyber Controller
Set 4: Ninth Doctor, Rose, Auton, Empty Child, slitheen

Then maybe specific episode sets like
The day of the doctor: 10, war, 11, zygon, dalek
Deep breath: 12, Clara, vastra, strax, jenny
Time of the doctor: Old 11, weeping angel, silent, cyberman, dalek

Not sure about the new Patrol Ship, and that Dalek is downright ugly with that mismatch of colours!
The Caretaker Doctor looks good, and the spacesuit one I’ll get purely for the Spider-Germs
The new Cybermen have better, larger (so more in proportion) heads and are taller, and look much better, so I’ll get some of those!
Gliding Daleks look really cool, and a nice way to get Dalek Sec and the other variants in the new scale for a decent price
Foretold, Scovox and new Clara all look great, defo get those!
I see they’re maximising their variants with red shirt Capaldi, not overly bothered with all of them
Lastly, Rusty gets his own figure! πŸ˜€
All in all, not a bad selection, shame Missy’s not finished yet though, she’ll be th icing on the cake! Looking forward to getting these for defo! πŸ˜€

    • Sam Richard Bentley

      January 20th, 2015 - 8:13pm

Could it be, though, that CB are nothing without the Who line? Let’s be honest – I think the majority of CB purchases come from Who fans and that includes the other ranges. How well did the Deadly 60 or Scooby Do ranges to compared to the Who range?

    • booboo

      January 20th, 2015 - 8:18pm

I dont know the answer to that but armed forces were big.

I think it could only go so far and i dont think Doctor Who alone would be worth keeping going for Character. The probably made the decision just to stop that particular line in full. as it was no longer working.

Remember Doctor Who is just a small part of their portfolio

      January 20th, 2015 - 11:12pm

The last wave of CB figures were hard to find. FPI Manchester eventually got them in but sold out and never got any more. My local Tesco super store just have a few Character brix first wave left.

  • Dalek The Supreme

    January 20th, 2015 - 7:58pm

I’m liking the 3.75 inch lineup. Yes, they’re mostly new variants, but they’re pretty good ones. Also, the moving Daleks might give me a chance to actually get a standard bronze Dalek in the new scale, since there’s no way I know of to get one in the US at a reasonable price.

I am so annoyed with the discontinuation of Character Building, and hope LEGO produce good sets and figures. It is a real shame. And it seems like each wave of sonics repeat some of the sonics in the older wave – why don’t they do a wave with a wider variety of sonics in it.
Everything else looks amazing though – can’t wait for them to be released! I don’t know why, but this year seems like its lacking in Doctor Who merchandise (from Character). The Sherlock figures are cool – looking forward to some more information/images.

What you are seeing are items for the next few months with more to come later on the year

It’s actually a good start to the year, better than last year

Please stop asking for 5 inch line. Those are going to be special things. The main line is the 3.75 inch now. Just pretend the 5 inch line never existed

Saying try to forget the 5 inch line is like saying pretend you never collected. There in our cabinets etc as a reminder of the years from 2005 onwards we,ve been collecting. I just hope they don,t totally abandon our loyalty if just to release something special from the old series occasionally. Love the new clara, caretaker and mummy figures in the 3:75 inch equally.

    • booboo

      January 22nd, 2015 - 11:26am

Character are doing their best with some ideas to give core collectors some future classic products if its viable business proposition

In the past all products were only viable due to high volume orders – they stop and so does the product .

Many paces stopped keeping the mass market 5″ line way before its end, they saw it as out of date (and it had nothing to do with the variants either that some people seem to think, they were a casualty of the problem not the cause of it)

Loosing Woolworth was a big blow as well –

Unfortunately people have very little understanding of the way things work, i dont understand why people think Character are going to make products that not enough people are going to buy.

      Its simple economics

    • The ergon

      January 25th, 2015 - 12:13pm

It would be naΓ―ve to think otherwise but I think underground could do more from the classic range if they could get the amount of orders in advance. If not then they could let the collectors down gently rather than not make them at all. surely theres a way so that superfluous stock doesn,t end up on shelves not getting sold.
