Why is there a variant of the front page of the comic that’s just blank? Is there a reason?

The Blank Variant is usually sought after by comic book fans who will attend conventions/expos & the like, to get a sketch done on the Front Cover by a particular artist in attendance. In effect they have then got an original one-off artwork by their favourite comic book artist…

I wonder how many variants there will be of this.
Issue One of the 10th and 11th Doctors had 78 covers in total and that was before 2nd printing!

Why can’t they sell them in the UK, Booboo?

they couldn’t but obviously they can now

The IDW comics couldn’t be sold in the UK due to the comic rights being with Panini for the official magazine.
The new license is now with Titan and will be sold in the UK.
There seems to be no nationwide UK distribution however so it is limited to specialist retailers.

its was said by Titan originally you would not be able to buy the 12th doctor comics in the UK

Sorry I hadn’t realised that PC was except!
It does appear that the 12th Doctor comics were to be digital only.
Looks like some common sense prevailed.

agreed, i assume it was because DWM also did a 12th doctor comic strip but there is room for both

Those Variant covers for Issue 1 are cool, but I think the 1st and 4th are particularly fantastic and make me want to purchase it already. I wonder if a local comic shop will order it in, or whether I will have to use Ebay.com.

I would use forbiddenplanet.com as the posting is mega cheap for a variant that at one time wasn’t available in the UK

i think its because DWM has the UK license for 12th Doctor Comics – there is more and more merchandise only licensed for overseas sales

ahhh I see but do you think they will be up on ebay

      June 18th, 2014 - 10:40am

some IDW ones were (they had the license until recently)

there might be some USA sellers who will shop them reasonably as well

when they actually go up for order i will have a dig around

You can easily order these comics online, and FP usually gets them even if there are restrictions. At least they have in the past. Looking good and I’ll probably be getting them.

Curious, artwork of Peter Capaldi reminds me of some of the very late 60’s and early 70’s. It’s either the logo or I’m showing my age. However, I’ve no complaints over the covers, apart from the Clara one and I’m sick and tired about any mention of wretched souffle. Stop it now!

not sure what’s happening with these, the 10th is on amazon, the 11th was but disappeared all individual ones for 10tha 11th have been put up on FP

looks like the licence conflict may on be for the 12th doctor

The painting of Capaldi is interesting – the head is from the original promotional picture – only they have painted him to be smiling, the body is from the image of him on the calenders, and the outward arm is something new, either added by the artist or from a promotional picture we are yet to see – nonetheless I like it, would love a poster of all the Doctors in that style.
