BBC Audio and Demon Records have announced that they will be publishing a brand new Doctor Who audio story for the Tenth Doctor as part of the Time Lord Victorious multi-platform adventure.
Doctor Who: The Minds of Magnox will be released on CD and Digital Download by BBC Audio on 3rd December and will be released on Vinyl by Demon Records on 4th December, marking the first simultaneous publication of a BBC Audio title across CD, digital and vinyl formats. The CD and digital editions will also feature a short Coda to the story.

BBC Studios is pleased to announce that Doctor Who will be the focus of a multi-platform story launching later this year. Time Lord Victorious will see partners including Penguin Random House, Doctor Who Magazine, Titan Comics, Escape Hunt, Big Finish Productions, Eaglemoss Hero Collector, Immersive Everywhere, Maze Theory, BBC Books and BBC Audio, unite to tell a brand new Doctor Who story.
Time Lord Victorious will launch later this year, with products and experiences scheduled to launch over a twelve week period.
Time Lord Victorious will tell a new and untold story, set within the Dark Times at the start of the universe, when even the Eternals were young. Following several Doctors across space and time as they defend their home planet from a terrible race, this is a story like no other.
The story will feature the Eighth, Ninth and Tenth Doctors, companion Rose Tyler and monsters including the Daleks and the Ood, with more to be revealed over the coming months as products are announced.

May 14th, 2020 - 1:34pmsigh…….. The entity that would eventually know as “the doctor” did not become “the doctor” until the william hartnell incarnation of “the timelord that would be know as the doctor” first took on the name after Ian Chesterton in 1963.
There have been 14 bodies know as “the doctor” (including the “Ruth Doctor”) and an almost infinite number of regeneration’s to the entity that could regenerate.

May 14th, 2020 - 6:26pmIs it just me though …and bare with me on this ….before hes Hartnell he gets a memory wipe and I assume they fix his regen limit too at that point to 12 as the time lords learn how and he flies off for all the adventures we have seen ..then in time if the doctor they undo the limit because that need her ….I don’t want to cause arguments or have people linch me as it’s just observation but what I have missed that could contractor that ?

Has memory wiped and is returned to childhood thus becoming the “doctor” we see in listen. Our doctor stays on gallifrey choosing the name doctor. Perhaps a vague memory or just a feeling of who he is (there must have been other doctor’s before him for him to make the choice, he must be aware of the name.) After many years his nature starts to come out, think about the matrix avatar brenden, he says “I want to make a difference”. The doctor leaves gallifrey with Susan and then think about this. Hartnell is not the doctor we come to know. He is a different character at the beginning. He doesn’t seek out adventures, he doesn’t meddle. It’s after the regeneration, his first of his wiped new life, that the doctor becomes the doctor. Things in the universe must be fought. A difference must be made. He still has unlimited regeneration. He doesn’t know and neither do the time lords on gallifrey. The division have hidden the doctor. So he firmly believes he’ll die on trenzalore and so do the time lords so they send regeneration energy to him. If they hadn’t we now know he would have regenerated anyway and we’d have spent the next few years finding out why. The division didn’t limit his regeneration as it’s natural. This does not mean the doctor is immortal. If the doctor is so badly injured he won’t be able to regenerate. Drop the doctor into a sun and there will be nothing left to regenerate. Why does it matter so much what arbitrary number the actor is. The fifth doctor believes he’s in his fourth regeneration. The latest doctor now knows this isn’t true. And it makes zero difference

The master knew him as the doctor at school as did all the time lords we meet. Ian calls him doctor foreman because of the name on the junkyard, which is just foreman. Perhaps it’s the doctor’s true nature coming through but there is a strong argument that all other actors have followed troughton’s proactive character rather than hartnell’s more standoffish version.

May 16th, 2020 - 1:44pmYou’re exactly right, it doesn’t change anything. The Doctor could still lag the grass with his adopted father as a child. He gets reset back to a child, and grows up on Gallifrey becoming the boy he is in listen. With his new adopted mother and father. He then grows up, enters the academy, gets exposed to the untempered schism to allow him to see into the time vortex, he then gets the same 12 limit as everyone else. (In his case it would be more of a placebo as he wouldn’t know he had unlimited regenerations)
He grows up to become Hartnell who leaves Gallifrey with his granddaughter and then every regeneration from here still stands and runs as normal. Doctor number 1,2,3,4 etc. etc. Then in time of the Doctor, the timelords grant him a bunch of new regenerations as maybe they think he genuinely will die if they’re not the same lords who know about the secret. And if could even be the case that they know the secret and grant his regenerations so he doesn’t ask questions. Everything still runs as normal I don’t understand why people are so triggered

It’s odd that DT didn’t keep his normal accent, because the way 10th speaks makes some of the cringey excesses a little worse. But DT is such a decent chap and enthusiastic, and good for the show. Too human an incarnation though, and the rosemance was too cloying. People jump on JW for the gurning etc but DT did it too, arguably worse. Still, love them all in the grand scheme of things, just not keen on the RIP Doctor Who 1963-2017 crowd with their (literally) Rose-tinted glasses.

More like hounded them.) about the possibility of Chris doing some new Nine for BF, and they confirmed that he has been approached. And that the answer wasn’t never, just not right now. And that was last year. And that Haigh-Ellery guy is slippery, because I also asked (also last year) about the possibility of John Simm coming aboard for BF, and was told that they would love to work with Simm at some point in the future. “Masterful”, anyone? Fooled me!

April 27th, 2020 - 6:41pmAfter christopher eccleston quit the part, i,m pretty sure he was asked if he would even do Big Finish and he said something like (and i,m paraphrasing here) ‘I don,t know, maybe i will do Big Finish some day’ (altthough he may have said this at the time to soften the blow to fans who were disappointed at him leaving after that one season). I,m less discouraged by his comments after seeing him with Matt Smith at that convention a few years back. It was joyful seeing them talking like old mates even though the cynical side of me knows he was remunerated handsomely for that event.

April 28th, 2020 - 9:08amThat’s not the issue. Tom Baker refused to play the part again for many years (for similar reasons). Up until now fans have been very supportive of CE. Its the fact he couldn’t put his personal issues to one side for a few minutes to say a thank you to the NHS. Especially annoying as he has made an appearance at a convention where he no doubt made lots of money selling autographs and photos to fans.

I am assume the various media are linked only by theme and you do not need to engage with everything order understand the story etc.

April 27th, 2020 - 4:05pmThe BBC are only allowed to go so far due to constraints imposed by their charter, and thank goodness for that. It would be utterly horrible to be forced to go out and spend money on other products on top of the licence fee to get a complete story.
I get that there are some people who seem to think that anyone who doesn’t buy every last Doctor Who product and utterly love everything is a traitor to the almighty brand, but we have to be reasonable about people’s circumstances.

If this were all such a “bold move forward” would there even be a need or cause to basically go retrospective now, with stuff like this? You have a right to your opinions, and I to mine, but there’s some food for thought. This can’t just simply be a money grab, with something that essentially has a currently stagnant merchandising reality. And one doesn’t look back to go forward.

(2nd, 3rd, 4th, war doctor, 10th) stop reading stuff into things just to try an make a point. There is no merchandise stagnation. We have only a limited number of possible DVD releases. We have various comic books, novels, CDs, toys, figurines, clothing, accessories such as badges, there’s more merchandise now than there has been for a while.

This would have been in the planning long before the Timeless Children was released anyway, so how did you come to that conclusion? Also, would this “mythology restoration” be ridding the mythology of 11 and 12 and the Classic Series Doctors too? None of them are in this either.
I don’t know why they choose these three Doctors, 10 I certainly understand, being popular and all, but 8 and 9 certainly aren’t as recognised as 4, 11 or 13. But whatever the reason, it’s exciting, and certainly isn’t trying to erase the current show, just like every Big Finish story isn’t trying to erase the current show. But then, I think you already knew that, and just wanted to make a nonsensical comment to annoy people.

April 27th, 2020 - 7:19pmI’m confused, Bob. Can you explain to us exactly how this story is any different to what Big Finish, BBC Books, Titan Comics, DWM or anyone else involved has always done? Every single one of them has always released stories featuring earlier versions of the Doctor than the one currently on the television. Why is this particular release “damage control” if everything released before this was not? Or were the Beeb also “restoring mythology” allowing Big Finish to release Eighth Doctor stories during the height of the Tennant era? Honestly, you can have any opinion you want but there’s very little food for thought here, I’m afraid.

April 27th, 2020 - 11:30pmI don’t know how this story will in anyway be different from anything you mentioned, as I haven’t read/listened to it yet, nor have I by any means read and/or listened to all of the those others you may have mentioned. Nothing in any media that I’ve encountered prior to Chibnall’s “Timeless Child” reinvention has been to my mind nearly as radical a game changer as that. There were allowances for a lot of variations but never anything that so radically rewrote Doctor Who’s mythology, including that whole “Other” business. So I’m just questioning the timing. Big Finish has always held the line on ‘fannish” spin offs and carry forwards, but why do we seem to have a very fan pleaser type adventure here that harkens back to the past just when that past has so radically been rewritten? I think that this is the BBC trying to offer appeasement and have it both ways. They want to back Chibnall and offer any fans put off by his rewrite a consolation. It may be a way also, I believe, to have a path forward that opens the door to get past what Chibnall has done. And again, I am personally looking very forward to this. I think it likely that I will enjoy this more than that there is any possibility of my watching the Chibnall era again.

They’ve got quite a lot of platforms they’re utilising: Books, Comics, Escape Rooms, Audio Dramas, Figurines, Audio Books and Virtual Reality. This sounds pretty cool but it’s quite a lot of media to spread across. I’ll definitely pick up the Big Finish Audio Drama and maybe a few of the books but I’m not really a fan of comics and don’t have anyway of experiencing virtual reality. Plus it’s gonna cost a lot of money… at least two books, and at least one Big Finish box set -that’s already about £50+ and I imagine not even half the story.
It looks a really good idea, the story itself sound amazing and I’m definitely excited for it but I’m just a bit concerned I might miss some of the story because I don’t have enough money or ability to use all the media outlets it’s coming out on. I feel like it might have benefitted from having one release per month rather than one release per week; that way more hype could be generated with cliffhangers and it’d be more affordable.
