Doctor Who The Other (War) Doctor 5″ Figure

Available to order from www.forbiddenplanet.co.uk

The ‘Other Doctor’ is the Doctor’s dark chapter, an _hitherto unknown incarnation whose existence he has spent centuries repressing, a secret he wants no one to know of.

He is a relic of the past, part of the great Time War, when he spent centuries fighting alongside his fellow Time Lords against the Daleks and made the final decision to end it with a desperate act that cost that incarnation the right to use the name “Doctor”.

This haunted and battle-worn Other Doctor is finally forgiven after helping find a new solution to end the war, giving the Eleventh Doctor a new purpose as he heads into further adventures.

What are the bets that we’ll be getting a 8th Doctor figure from Night of the Doctor now? It just seems like a lot of work to go to, tooling a new head, if only to put it on a body that doesn’t match the screen.

      So it is true.

no there not 5 inch again. the reason he’s 5 inch is because he’s after the 8th so it makes him a classic figure.

In the night of the doctor, you see john Hurt’s reflection, although it looked more like he did as a younger man in Alien…is this correct as I thought the doctors never really physically aged?

They do but it takes centuries

    • Anonymous

      December 8th, 2013 - 6:47pm

Time Lords are in complete control of their aging process, or at least their physical aging, they could speed it up, slow it down or even stick it in reverse if they wanted.

However, it seems that if they spend too long in an older version of the form it takes its toll on them and eventually the body starts “wearing a bit thin”.

Not trying to be rude or anything but Paul McGann looks FAT in Hurts outfit and really I think they should only release Hurt not McGann or release McGann in the actually outfit from the night of the doctor but they do look good except McGann just dosent look right in his outfit but couldn’t they put Ecclestons Head on it? It would look better then McGann dont you agree?

It’s probably because we never got to see the end of The Regeneration from John Hurt to Christopher Eccleston that we don’t have The Ninth Doctor’s head.

    • Jamie

      December 8th, 2013 - 4:59pm

I would rather have a headsculpt of an older Paul McGann than another 9Th doctor.

    • Dalek the Supreme

      December 8th, 2013 - 9:17pm

I would have preferred a young War Doctor head, or a two-pack with McGann’s costume from Night of the Doctor, but hey, they’ve released a 2013 character from the New Series, so I’m not complaining! 😀

      December 10th, 2013 - 7:40pm

  • NCC1701D

    December 8th, 2013 - 4:01pm

This is awesome, but I don’t get why it comes with the Eighth Doctor’s head as it’s too short to be Paul McGann and as we saw in the Night of the Doctor, Paul McGann never wore this costume, his was similar but not Hurt’s costume. It is cool all the same though and I’ll still get one.

it depend on the brief they were given months back when they would have had to start production. they may have jut been told here is the other Doctor, Paul McGann will regenerate into him!

either way it opens up other possibilities for the future

portrait image put in a square box, you actually see it quite often on websites where the pixel size is fixed, or you crop and image and over-right the original without changing the pixel dimensions on the page (i’m sure some know what i’m on about)

one imagines a 5″ inch long term Capaldi investment would be viable and bring an inevitable 13 Doctors set a couple of years down the line

not sure how the wider UK independent retailers and smaller chains may be viewing this though, The only 2 major and lucrative releases (so far) from the special and they aren’t getting a look in.

As I believe someone else has already mentioned, but a young war doctors head would have been a better alternative. Mcgann deserves his own night of the doctor figure ( and Dark Eyes figure seeing as it’s now part of doctor who official history).

There’s been speculation that CO didn’t have much to go on when designing the figure, and may have thought that A)Hurt was playing an older version of Eight, or B) the War Doctor’s costume was going to be what Eight was wearing prior to regeneration, and he just didn’t bother to change his outfit.

I agree with you though, I’d love a McGann figure in his NOTD costume. Paul seemed really chuffed with it in the interview they posted online this week, so I’m hoping he’s going to be shown wearing this in further BF releases.
