The Making of Doctor Who:The Original 1970s Programme Guide Audio CD

Available to order from www.amazon.co.uk

Journey back in time with this nostalgic audio presentation performed by Jon Culshaw, Dan Starkey, Maureen O’Brien, Louise Jameson, Katy Manning and Geoffrey Beevers.

It’s the 1970s, and you’re invited behind the scenes of Doctor Who. You’ll go on location to witness the recording of two classic TV adventures (The Sea Devils and Robot) and spend time inside a vintage BBC television studio. You’ll also learn how to write a script or make a monster, 1970s-style!

Authors Terrance Dicks and Malcolm Hulke will guide you through the first ten years of Doctor Who history, detailing how it was created, the people who brought it into being, and the actors who portrayed the Doctor, his friends and their monstrous enemies.

Along the way you’ll hear some of the Doctor’s key early adventures recounted as Time Lord records, UNIT Memos, and other in-story documentation.

Brought to life by an array of familiar Doctor Who voices, this celebration of the programme’s early days is a delight for fans of all ages.

Hmm, they’ve used the old 1970s Monster Book cover. Much nicer than what the print copy of this had, I agree.

Yeah, but what cover do they use if they decide to release the 70s Monster Book on audio in the future?

Is it obligatory for Dan to be in every single BF release ? Sick of the same old voices being overused.

I have the second version of this and it’s good. Simple, but good. Would much rather have a physical book release than an audio though so I’ll not be buying this.

Sorry didn’t make it very clear. I would love a reprint featuring both versions. I don’t buy audio books now as I can’t listen to them due to health issues so my not buying this is not a reflection on the product really. If this was a reprint I’d snap it up!

I remember this from years back but having never owned it or read it and preferring to listen rather than read I’m really pleased to see this being released on audio.
Will be interesting to hear the making of Dr Who from all prospectives from back in the day.
