RubberToe Replicas The Tardis Siege Mode Cube

Available to order from www.rubbertoereplicas.com

The Tardis in ‘siege mode’ been one of our favourite prop makes of the recent series of Doctor Who.

The Tardis has shrunk and is in trouble; it’s just about to flattened by a train! The Doctor pulls an emergency lever to transform the Tardis into its rawest form, no way in, no way out.

rt-cube1

It’s a beautiful prop to look at, and fits in so well with the Rubbertoe range that when we had the design we knew it was meant to be! We hope you enjoy owning it as much we enjoyed making it.

rt-cube3

As with all Rubbertoe Replicas, the Tardis Cube is made using the same techniques and materials as the original prop. To see a detailed account of how we made the original, with step by step pictures of the prop’s construction, click on the link on our home page.

The cube comes packed in its own Doctor Who themed gift box.

dont think so, but i suppose they could stop selling them at any time they choose, that’s good enough reason i suppose, unlike like toys they are not massed produced

This looks such good quality, especially the blue tint of the resin, I don’t think I can resist it! Now then, where to get £50?

The resin has aluminum powder in it so it looks like metal (and will tarnish as such, which I think is very cool). The blue is actually paint.

Just bought mine, to hard to resist and easier to justify buying price wise than the Vortex Manipulator. But might kid myself into that if they still have any around Christmas/new Year time.

Thats a good chunk of money towards a This Planet Earth dalek or police box…..

Yeah thats true, Plus I’d go for a Tardis if I had the money or space. Need at least a 11 ft ceiling to fit it in a house.

Got to admit I always thought the replica Star Wars Lightsabre hilts cost to much, But I think a Sonic must have more machine work to do, so I can understand the cost for any company making props.

You know, I’d love to see a replica of the uncamouflaged mode of the TARDIS, as seen in the beginning and end of “The Name Of The Doctor”.

But this replica of the TARDIS in “siege mode” looks amazing. 🙂

I doubt RubberToe would make that as they usually do in scale versions of small items. Still a great idea for a feature in a figure set from Character or Underground Toys. Maybe with the first doctor and Susan!!!

    • GallifreyanKnight

      October 21st, 2014 - 4:16pm

Problem is, if Character did it, they’d do it in their inferior 3.75″ scale range, instead of the surperior 5″ scale range from a few years back.

I someone does do it eventually though. 🙂

New Who loves a good box, especially one important to the story.

    The Moment?
    The Pandorica?
The Gallifreyan Cube from The Doctor’s Wife?
    Maria Jackson’s box from SJA?
    The Siege Mode TARDIS?

    Anything I’m missing? I’m sure that’s not them all…

they are a prop maker for the “new” series and market items that they have actually made for the show (or items based on their designs )

      they are fairly unique really

they may not have a licence to make *classic” items or indeed items they did not design

    • Bentox

      October 20th, 2014 - 11:33am

Well, technically, it’s resin with aluminum powder in it. Still though, definitely not plastic 🙂 . And yes, then you factor in that it’s made by the people who made the original prop, using the same materials and finishing process… it seems like a very reasonable price to me.

I really like this, they could actually do quite a lot with this other than a replica, they could make the series 8 special edition box like this with all the circular symbols the DVD’s. Or they could do like what they did with the Pandorica and make a build-a-figure wave for the 3.75″ figures.
But anyway this looks really nice and would hope to get one maybe for Christmas.

      From a Doctor Who Wiki:
Is the TARDIS indestructible? No. “We’ve seen her damaged in, for example, “The End of Time” Part 2. We’ve also seen her blown up in “The Pandorica Opens”, although she was restored in “The Big Bang”. The destruction of the TARDIS also appeared to be a very real possibility in “Journey’s End”. And “the Doctor’s Wife” is all about the destruction of TARDISes by House, and we see many destroyed/disassembled TARDISes.”

The Doctor seemed pretty concerned about the Cybermen destroying the TARDIS with a bomb in The Five Doctors.

      October 20th, 2014 - 3:13pm

I’m sure i recall a classic episode where the Doctor Clearly states the Tardis was indestructible, i think it fell down a cliff or something, if only i could remember, 3rd of 4th Doctor i think

    • The Daleks’ Advocate

      October 20th, 2014 - 3:29pm

In “Frontios”, the Tardis is not exactly destroyed but still sort of… mangled and its bits embedded in rock. So not indestructible, nope. And definitely not an invincible protection to someone who’d have stayed inside.

    • booboo

      October 20th, 2014 - 3:40pm

yes just watched it funnily enough

3rd doctor clearly states Tardis is indestructible, which obviously changed depending on which writer write what and when

    • doctor what

      October 20th, 2014 - 3:39pm

It seems to be very close to indestructible when the shields are up.

    • The Doctor Wolf

      October 20th, 2014 - 3:54pm

I like to think that The TARDIS started extremly robust, to the point of near-indestructability, but nearly two thousand years of use and conflict have worn her out, so she’s now more vunerable (without shields)

Plus, ‘Temporal Grace’ was a ‘clever lie’, so maybe TOTAL indestructability is too?

    • VespiformsSting

      October 21st, 2014 - 4:44pm

Curse of Peladon Booboo…..In Frontios the TARDIS isn’t destroyed …it splits itself into components which the Doctor tricks the Gravis into ‘fusing ‘ back together with his ‘animal magnetism’. Presumably the TARDIS was threatened enough by the impact of a gravitationally, Tractator controlled asteroid/meteor to do this. Curiously theres a TV Comic story where the TARDIS is hit by the racing car…the Doctor states the TARDIS is indestructible and builds a new racing car from the material the TARDIS is made of….ah good old TV Comic…..

Or outside the Whoniverse, it looks very like the puzzle box thingy from Hellraiser that calls forth the Cenobites monsters of which Pinhead was a member/leader. Which could spark some horrific fanfic of the Cenobites being the alternative/dark Universe’s version of the Time Lords, seeing as how they were outside of time and could seriosly distort dimensions and space when summoned! Freaky deaky, scary warey, what if fanfic! 🙂
