In this thrilling 4 part adventure, first shown on BBC TV in September 1979, the Daleks return to their home planet Skaro, scene of their defeat at the hand of the Doctor (Tom Baker) in Genesis of the Daleks. What – or who – have they returned for?

It soon becomes apparent that the ruthless scientist Davros, creator of the Daleks, may not be as dead as the Doctor assumed. When Romana (Lalla Ward) falls into the hands of the Daleks themselves, a life and death struggle begins to divert the Doctor’ s adversaries from their self-proclaimed destiny. So for a product that was released to help independant record stores available on Amazon does that not kind of totally go against the whole project.

Bit like buying one of the free comic book day editions on Amazon.

Should people not just help local record stores out instead?

they do, and they get first shot, but the overall “local” demand probably isn’t there for the quantities that have to be produced so its this way or nothing at all.

Not everyone can get to shops either, and when a product isn’t on-line people moan like hell

Exactly. We have only 2 shops in all of North Wales that participate in RSD and they’re on either side! On Eid tiny and usually only has 1 copy of each and a queue 3 hours long. Amazon getting the overstocks are a blessing to those of us who want the item and not to store, never tomlisten to, or flog on ebay

      Hello TheMaster.

I have a friend who is unable due to Disability, to stand in a queue for hours or be up at 4 AM (Chester had people sitting out side from 10pm the night before ) So a couple of people go, one who has no interest in DW other than casually, and they get Him the various Discs.

I am sure , there are other people who want , the music Lps etc. in a similar boat. So online is something of gift to them , if they have no one who can get them for them.

Indeed all The Master was saying was the whole idea was to help struggling record stores get people into their shops.

But as had happened to many larger companies when the local record store is gone just remember you helped it happen.

Giving them several days advantage exclusively selling records intore that would otherwise never get made probably helps them stay in business

Many other independent retailers such as toy shops get no such advantage

Just queued for an hour in Bristol to find sold out. And they wonder why people shop online and not in store any more!

After The Release of , Mission to the Unknown/Dalek`s Masterplan Vinyl Box set, This makes great sense. Its one of those Stories, That the Visual let down.

I wonder if after nearly 50 Years, and multiple versions, we could get an exclusive Genesis of the Daleks complete 6 episode version?

If DMP is the new Direction, for these releases, Then the packaging will be as superb,as the Audio product.

Sounds like the old vinyl recording of Genesis of the Daleks narrated by Tom Baker. That made sense before the VHS and DVD release, but very retro today.

Never quite seen the point of doing these for stories that still exist. On the other hand if they add some ring modulation to David Gooderson’s lines it might be worth it!

So is this done like a novelisation reading, or more like a big finish audio?

It’s literally just the soundtrack of the episodes, with Lalla Ward describing the visual scenes. So, in essence, it’s a missing episode soundtrack for a non missing episode. Like watching the DVD without the visuals.

      Sort of a Companion Chronicle

it’s all the audio you hear on the dvd, with narration between dialogue to tell you if characters move or if settings change
