Why is 12 on there when he doesn’t have a story, while 7 has a story but isn’t on the cover?

The nearest one to me in Lancashire is in Memphis, TN.

I suspect the postcode search engine is flawed.

Since my original comment was apparently deemed inappropriate, let me attempt to rephrase it more politely: I get the impression from what I’ve heard that Tenth, Eleventh, and Thirteenth Doctors will be the active titles, while Twelfth will be discontinued through lack of support (though he does appear on this cover). That’s a shame, as his was the only title I had interest in collecting.

9th and 12th Doctor were the only ones I got. I was getting 11th Doctor for a while aswell but was just not interested in the stories. Hopefully they have Torchwood in there plans aswell.

(I just had wi-fi issues, so don’t know if my first attempt to post this went through. Probably not. Will reconstruct.) I liked the Third and Fourth Doctor special miniseries, but don’t know how well they sold, as they weren’t about youthful, “pretty” Doctors such as the Tenth and Eleventh. I’ve heard claim that a Seventh Doctor miniseries might be done in future, and would buy that. For the newer show, though, only the Twelfth interests me, but I suspect that he’ll be erased as much as possible from any future merchandise or in-show references; however, I can’t figure out if it’s because everyone’s convinced that Capaldi fans don’t exist or because part of Capaldi wanting to get on with his life includes his refusing to allow his likeness to be used on merchandise (which gets me to wondering just how badly he was treated behind the scenes). Disguruntled fan attempting to remain polite here…

A bit surprising to cancel 12 so soon, seeing that the next TV series won’t be on until August/September and with a new Doctor AND 3 new Companions pretty hard to write for until you’ve seen a few episodes

With 12 comics, at least you had the continuity of Clara carrying over

I get wanting to make a cheap cover for a free comic book but jeezz! If this is the Doctor Who Comic Series Re-Launch comic, put a tad more effort in, it looks like it was made after 3 minutes on Powerpoint, googled a Star Wars: The Force Awakens Jakku Screensaver, couldn’t remove the white backgrounds which should be the definition of lazy in the graphic design dictionary, and put a stock twinkle image which you could probably find after scrolling Google Images for 2 seconds

I agree it’s an awful cover. A lot of the ‘photograph’ covers look quite badly photoshopped, but there are also a few that look great. Unfortunately this is not one of them.

What an awful design on the cover. You can see the white background around the Doctors, and the lens flare on the 12th Doctor’s glasses is atrocious.

Basically, Titan is taking a few months break from publishing Doctor Who comics after February, and this free comic is an “Issue 0” (Prelude) to the new run of comics that we don’t know much about yet.

The company that makes Doctor Who Comics are stopping at the end of February. Then on Free Comic Book Day THIS comic will come out that leads into the new set of Comic Books when they publish them again.

Yes it does! A company called Titan publishes Doctor Who comic books. They are taking a break from publishing those comics at the end of February. On Free Comic Book Day, THIS comic will come out that leads into the new series of comic books when they start publishing then again

I’m sorry that came through twice, it didn’t seem to send last time. Apologies.

      January 7th, 2018 - 5:26pm

Nope, again that doesn’t make any sense? There are FOUR Ongoing Doctor stories (9th. 10th. 11th. 12th.) which are released in the USA as separate Issues (One for each Doctor) the odd Mini-Run for other Doctors like the 3rd. 4th. & 8th. then the Doctor Who Event Day Run of comics. In the UK we currently have ‘Tales From The Tardis’ with 3 Doctors (10th. 11th. 12th. – With the rumour that the 12th. is being dropped, presumably due to Capaldi’s Likeness License) Last year in 2017 the erratic UK Titan Publishing Schedule seemed to drop to 6 Issues. The UK release is about 10 Issues behind the US one, which currently is in Year 3. The Free Comic Book Day Dr Who Issue is more about advertising with a short story than anything else & this Gold Edition is published Worldwide. Titan are notorious for getting the details wrong & they never tell you the truth anyway? I would be extremely surprised to see the 13th. Doctor before the TV show is actually on in a comic? They never showed the 12th. Doctor & when the did it was just an outline in shadow. It’s a total mess! I just wish for once that a company could release accurate, simple information instead of making a total hash of it!

Not sure what’s not to understand

The individual comic series you mention are available in the UK at the same time as the USA and are even featured on this site every month.

They are not just USA issues as you seem to suggest.

The Tales from the Tardis (which the USA dont get) is just that “Tales for the Tardis” and is a cheaper compilation of selected stories taken from the main releases no doubt intended for casual buyers who just like comics but don’t want to collect the entire series..

This new comic day preview is to launch the new ongoing comic series which will be available in the UK in exactly the same way as the USA.

Seeing as Titan is taking a break from Doctor Who Next year, and it says 0 at the barcode on this, maybe this is an “Issue 0” to the new Doctor Who Comic line?

Maybe there’s a gap in tomorrow night’s episode with Jodie in a space of time that Titan can pick up on. You know what they did with Ghost Stories, they announced it almost immediately after the episode aired!
