I,m going to order another mestor and give him some flipper feet. He wasn,t the most subtle of creations to begin with but those boots are the final straw. I couldn,t live with it. Might order another bok as well to give it that grey stone look.

Really like this little fella, I mentioned before it reminds me of a low budget Tractator.
But if Harrops made him, I’d definitely bag one.

    Hi,
Do we know if this collection is still due to finish at Issue 200?? Or has it been extended again to another 20 or more issues?
    Thank You.

I was there and couldn,t believe what i was watching then. A garish mess. All that time as passed and all the reappraising in the world can,t alter the fact it will always be destined to stay at the bottom when it comes to fan polls. However much you take fan polls seriously of course. The only other story that might prise it from the bottom be orphan 55 come the next Big poll. Any takers?

Nothing is worse than Love and Monsters for me. Even ‘bad’ Doctor Who episodes I can enjoy elements of and there are very few that I would say are poor overall. But Love and Monsters has no redeeming qualities for me and will take some beating at the bottom.

I actaully like Love and Monsters, and Timelash, which I know aare unpopular opinions. The only stories I hate are Invisible Enemy, Underworld, Leisure Hive, Twin Dilema, Name of the Doctor, Listen, In the Forest of the Night, Orphan 55, Praxeus and Can You Hear Me? Any of them could take the bottom spot for me, thought I haven’t seen any of season 24, which I hear has bad stories.

You see opinion is divided.I,d say Timelash is almost on a par with The Twin dilemma in terms of production values and the acting is some of the worst ever. And ‘Listen ‘ and Can you hear me are at least original for Who, sometimes talky, a little experimental and i find get better on repeat viewings. You could say the same for Love and Monsters. There are scenes i like including Kays turn as victor Kennedy played just for laughs but the Lancashire accented Abzorbaloff created by the design a monster competition for the show was a real low point. No wonder Kay at the time felt embarrassed and even remarked it might abzorbaloff his career. Mr.s Croot, you will know which scenes/stories you may or may not enjoy with regards to season 24. Have you Preordered the Blu-Ray release?

Yes, delaying my marathon till it comes out. I’ve been watching Doctor Who from the beginning and am looking forward regardless of what I hear to experience 4 of the last 6 stories I’m yet to see on Blu Ray. (Delta and Ghostlight are the others and I can experience them on Blu Ray as well)

Favourite episodes are very subjective. What someone loves another fan could hate.
It’s best to watch a story yourself and make up your own mind.
To be fair I love Season 24, there’s three really cracking stories on their. Up with the best of Dr Who, even the fourth one is quite good.
      Just my opinion though.

Seeing Kay as The Abzorbaloff Does remind me of those old Tango Ads. Also talking of Peter Kay, i was watching ‘The War Machines’ the other day and when it shows a machine trundling down the street with the back screen projection it made me smile and think of the ‘Is this the way to Amarillo’ video but in Black and White.

i could imagine William Hartnell as first doctor and Anneke wills and Jackie Lane at either side, if they pulled back, doing the claps.

So pleased about this, from a very (in my opinion) underrated story. Hope they release the Borad and Stike the Sontaran as well, at some point.

I would like Stike very much! If we also got Styre, Strax, and a modern day Sontaran Trooper (although I know that might be pushing it) I’d be extremely happy!

      March 15th, 2021 - 8:41pm

The Borad is long overdue imo. I’d buy 2 of him. And make a little tinsel Timelash to match. If it were possible to do a Bandril that’d be lovely. But what do they look like below the waist?

    • Dalekz

      March 16th, 2021 - 12:53am

The Borad in his chair would be cool.
I also love the weird humanoid robots in this story, that scene of one of fire always disturbed me as a kid as well as it’s weird monotoned voice (Which I can still do)

I think that ‘the Twin Dilemma’ gets bad press. Yes the twins are really annoying, like 2 Adric’s…aaaaagggghhhh! The script is poor and the main monster is a ratty fur rug. After Caves of Androzani anything would be deemed poor.
Colin Baker is great throughout with a 4 part deranged regeneration scene! They had no money left, and yes they should have forgotten this story and started the Dr with a reworked Attack of the Cybermen. It’s really camp and cheap like the 1980 Flash Gordon, and that’s why I like it. I remember ‘The Armageddon Factor, and Underworld, Love and monsters, the invisible enema, all very poor in my opinion.

      March 22nd, 2021 - 1:03pm

I don,t remember The Invisible Enema ( I bet that hurt) but contrary to opinion i quite enjoy ‘The Armageddon factor’. Its true they should have started Colins era as the doctor the following year and started fresh. Doctor who budgets were really low anyway but if the money was so sparce they should have spread it out what was left on the previous stories on season 21 rather than waste their efforts and ending with this excrable, tacky mess of a story. ‘May my bones rot for watching it.

That’s not really how television works, you’re paid a certain amount of money to produce a certain amount of content. Something would have to go horribly wrong to lose four episodes.

      March 22nd, 2021 - 10:42pm

Whatever they do with the money they are allocated and how many episodes they are told to make for that season spare a few quid for an incoming Doctors opening story. They should have saved Androzani till last. There are usually one or two bad stories in every season but this was embarrassing with very few redeeming qualities. Mestor melting to goo being one of the few highlights. Which if i remember was also sort of sent up rotten by Ricky Gervais in Extras.

Hello, I really don’t get why a lot of the bad classic stories are hated. There are a lot of good things to be found in many of them like the Gastropods, The Borad & the blue skinned androids, Paul Darrow’s Acting, The Nimon, The Rani pretending to be Mel and the Tetraps etc.
Some of the great classics aren’t as interesting for me.

I find 5 and 6’s eras under-represented tbh, would love some figurines such as a terileptil android, mawdryn, monarch, mara, myrka, tractator, kamelion, 5 doctors borusa, ergon, black guardian, borad, cryon, stike. while on the subject of the 80s, perhaps an animated Krarg (akin to the Chameleon figurine), foamasi, tharil, a Cleaner, god of ragnarok would also be some lovely additions to the 80s shelf

I rewatched The Two doctors the other night and thought how much i,d love a Chessene and Shockeye, not sure about Dastari but Sixth in his colourful waistcoat and second in top hat and tails would be great as a four pack, but then you leave out Peri and jamie. What a quandary.

    • Zygon_invader

      March 15th, 2021 - 2:48pm

You could have jamie and peri and the two sontarans stike and varl box set

    • the ergon

      March 15th, 2021 - 2:57pm

But wouldn,t they have to include a Doctor in the set? Lets go leftfield and include the Dona Arana in praying mode, Oscar with his butterfly net or Shockeye tucking into his Rat as inclusive.

Yet another great figurine! It is genuinely fantastic to see the, shall we say, less successful characters getting the Eaglemoss treatment. This looks much better than it did on screen, I think and shows it was not the design but the limitations in execution that meant it didn’t quite work.

On another note, I hope there can be some more mid-late period Tom Baker characters/monsters please! Some whole series have hardly any figurines representing them at all. And still fingers crossed for a Krarg at some point…
