When the Doctor and his companions arrive in a strange domain ruled over by the Toymaker, the immortal entity forces them to play a series of games. Should the time travellers lose, they face an eternity as his playthings.

February 7th, 2021 - 2:23pmWasn’t the Toymaker planned to be the original villain in Dimensions in Time? Michael Gough turned it down, then Anthony Ainley turned it down so they approached Kate O’Mara. Or have I got it wrong?

November 30th, 2020 - 2:55pm191? Interesting. I think Neil tweeted on the weekend about putting the magazine for 191 to bed just now and it implied (by mentioning how tricky it was to spell the actor who played Ko Sharmus in this year’s season) that maybe 191 would be linked to this year’s finale?

September 29th, 2020 - 5:12pmI know the William Hartnell and Patrick Troughton stories where broadcast in Black and White, and alot of fans like the monochrome versions. But I wish colour had been used more widely in the early sixties. When you see many of the colour stills from these early productions like The Celestial Toymaker, Marco Polo and the Highlanders to name just a few, the programmes would have looked stunning in colour.

September 29th, 2020 - 6:30pmA lot of people didn,t have or couldn,t afford colour Televisions even right up to the early 1980s. Thats why we had the optional black and white television licence.I barely saw Doctor Who episodes in colour in the 1970s unless we were calling at certain relatives, never mind the 1960s. Watching snooker at ours was a joke. ‘And now hes attempting to pot the dark grey ball’.

September 29th, 2020 - 6:37pmJust mentioned because of the lavish sets and lavish costumes they produced for early Dr Who even though it was only filmed in black and white. Would have been special seeing all those lost episodes again but also in colour.

September 29th, 2020 - 10:48pmThe sets and costumes for Marco did look amazing and given the budget and studio restraints, they looked to have produced something that worked well. At least we can visualise what the story was like in B/W with all those episode stills and the soundtrack. Alas, the best we could realistically hope for, further down the line is the animated B/W and coloured versions, if they could overcome the costs due to all those characters and different costumes.

September 30th, 2020 - 2:49amWe’re inevitably going to witness artificial intelligence software that automatically colourises black and white footage in a believable and effortless manner, going by the phone applications you can already get that do a semi acceptable process to black and white stills.

I’ve never understood the hate some fans have for the animations. Yes they aren’t perfect but they all have their own charm and to me, could never be described as terrible.
I’d rather have them then not at all as I prefer my Who as a visual medium. So glad we get to see more 2nd Doctor and hopefully 1st Doctor eventually.

September 29th, 2020 - 9:25amI know there were attempts in 1986 and 1993 but it’s astounding that the Toymaker never returned to the series. He’d make a brilliant Christmas special villain.
Next up from the Hartnell era must surely be Who’s first supervillain, Mavic Chen…

Was hoping they would bring the snowman forward so it arrives in December.
And thought The Master would end up delayed as to me the Ruth Doctor looked good. The Master looks like Adam Lambert but hopefully will be better in hand.
Can we have a Console reveal next please.

September 29th, 2020 - 6:03pmNot sure how CO would tackle this figure. I presume the cassock would be made from a sturdy plastic instead of cloth, so this would prohibit the movement of the legs. Most of CO’s Dr Who figures legs are now super articulated so this would make them a bit redundent.

If they made a new head sculpt and fixed that onto any old body of the right proportions (the absolute cheapest they could use), perhaps they could stretch to printing the design onto fabric? I think it could be done in three pieces (and in a worst case scenario, they could push up the price by making it a twin pack with an invisible 1st Doctor).

Totally forgot about COs Omega. Could only remember them using plastic before like for the Masters robes. Omega was very basic cloth pattern though, not sure they’d do something this intricate with cloth.

You can paint the Toymaker and if you are out, no one will notice. But with Colin Baker’s coat, it is an absolute nightmare…

September 28th, 2020 - 3:51pmNeil Corry & Ben Robinson you are the greatest. I am so unbelievably hyped and excited for this figurine and it is one I have been hoping for since August 2013. We are honestly so lucky with this collection. I know it has been said so many times by everyone but I truly genuinely believe this is the best figurine collection eaglemoss has ever done and the best representation figurine wise of the doctor who universe. I sincerely hope this collection can continue for a very long time. Once again, absolutely thrilled we are getting the Celestial Toymaker in this collection, we are so lucky.
