The Twelfth Doctor
July 11th, 2014 - 3:16pmMy opinions on this set and the price have changed. Even if we only get the Twelfth Doctor’s head, the fact we are even getting a 5″ Capaldi is a wonder at all. I also am really looking forward to seeing the new accessories (mainly Handles). The box sounds very artistic, and I’m looking forward to displaying my 7B Doctor along with my other Eleventh Doctor figures.

July 11th, 2014 - 3:18pmbooboo do you think when you remove the chest the jacket will also be removed
The Twelfth Doctor
July 11th, 2014 - 3:39pmIt will definitely just be the waistcoat that is removable.
Anonymous
July 11th, 2014 - 3:43pmyes but if you remove the waistcoat then waist the jack come off aswell
The Twelfth Doctor
July 11th, 2014 - 3:54pmNo it won’t. See the ‘Professor Bracewell’ figure if you don’t believe me.
Anonymous
July 12th, 2014 - 1:08amI don’t think it is is just the waist coat it is also the shirt

July 11th, 2014 - 2:49pmJust pre-ordered this. I agree its expensive but if its the cheapest way to get it in the UK then I accept that. Hopefully the set is as good as shown in the promo images (which im sure it will be a the winston churchill figure is amazing and the promos for it didn’t do the set justice)

July 11th, 2014 - 2:21pmbooboo why are products like this fp exclusives
why cant shops like the bbc shop get this aswell?
booboo
July 11th, 2014 - 2:30pmprobably as FP help fund them or agree to take so many in turn for an exclusive
BBST have just put this up for $39.99 so looks like the initial USA price might be wrong
George
July 11th, 2014 - 1:39pmAre these the only two websites selling this set?
booboo
July 11th, 2014 - 1:40pmthere are a few more in the states but then its not exclusive to anyone over there
in this instance i would recommend anyone trying to import just one it could cost you dearly
George
July 11th, 2014 - 6:52pmI’d like to buy a few, which can work out cheaper as opposed to buying just one. I bought some Other Doctor figures from America that worked out at a good price, and with the price difference between the countries on this one, it might make it cheaper.

July 11th, 2014 - 12:42pmAfter careful consideration and thought I decided to email Forbidden Planet and cancel my preorder for this figure ? After all the war doctor came with a couple of accessories and was only £15? No £30 is way too much to pay for this and I will go into my locaL Forbidden Planet Store to have a look before I even consider shelling out such a ridiculous price for this figure.
booboo
July 11th, 2014 - 12:45pmits a sad state of affairs when people start cancelling orders over the price
I think people would be a lot happier if they were actually given an explanation and better still show them the full set
I’m sure when we see the box and all the accessories it will somehow make us feel better
the astronaut of death
July 11th, 2014 - 12:48pmI actally dont mind the price
It is just that this set is so awesome I don’t care
booboo
July 11th, 2014 - 12:50pmi dont think many people would if it were a level playing field
its the sudden huge worldwide price discrepancy that’s causing concern
Melkur
July 11th, 2014 - 1:13pmIt would be nice if FP.com had this up for preorder too, just to create a bit of competition(maybe encourage a little price drop). Right now, FPI has a complete monopoly over this set in the UK, and it may be the reason why they are charging more.
Also, i’d love to know if Popcultcha in Australia will get this too, and the price they will charge.
booboo
July 11th, 2014 - 1:16pmyes i have been waiting to what this is in Australia – problem is unlike the war doctor its will be above the import duty level so you could get stung in the UK
FP have put stuff up at a later date but i doubt there will be any price difference if they do
Melkur
July 11th, 2014 - 1:31pmShame really, I was hoping to grab an early bargain again 😀
Imlookingforthedoctor
July 11th, 2014 - 2:52pmYou’ve got to think of it from business’s prospective.. think of the amount of money that are put into one of these figures, You’ve got to include the machines, computers, paint and many other things that are included in this kind of profession. They have to create thousands of these and ship them to other country’s around the world just for your need, there are probably thousands going into this one figure. CO are only trying to earn there money back if they weren’t they would go bankrupt and close down then there would be no more Dw figures.
booboo
July 11th, 2014 - 3:50pmall true but its not CO its Underground Toys risk and none of that explains the price difference
The USA price however seems to be slowly increasing at retailers
Imlookingforthedoctor
July 11th, 2014 - 5:23pmAh yes miner mistake.
Charliec3po
July 11th, 2014 - 12:38pmNot gonna lie, I think the price is a bit to much for 1 figure and a handful of accessories. Don’t get me wrong I love the look of this pack, but for the price I might give It a miss

July 11th, 2014 - 12:15pmDo any of you guys know how to delete an order from FPI? Didn’t know where else to ask, please help, thanks.
Melkur
July 11th, 2014 - 12:37pmYou have to email them, best to include your order number for the item that is in your ‘My Account’ section
Anonymous
July 11th, 2014 - 12:58pmThanks for helping! 🙂
Tom
July 11th, 2014 - 1:17pmOn the forbidden planet international website there is an email: [email protected] and give them your order number or contact details and the date that you ordered the item and say that you wish to cancel the item ?. Hope this helps ?

July 11th, 2014 - 4:57pmHow does it take them to get back to you?
Anonymous
July 11th, 2014 - 5:04pm*Do you know how long it could take for them to get back to me? Or if they even get back to me, thanks.
Sorry for messaging it up the first time.

July 11th, 2014 - 7:43amApparently the reason this set is so expensive is its a US exclusive only and FPI have to import it. Diamond distributors are listing it at $35.00=£20.43 where Entertainment Earth are listing it as $37.99=£22.17.
booboo
July 11th, 2014 - 8:03amwhere did you hear that as another forum is quoting this site as the source for this information, its only been speculated as a possible reason
Anon
July 11th, 2014 - 12:34pm$38 / 1.6 (to give the exchange) x 1.2 to give you vat:
£28.50.
There price is not that far different.
booboo
July 11th, 2014 - 12:37pmbut local sales tax is included in the USA price
its till much cheaper in the states (and so is ace which people dont seem to be noticing £14.50 as opposed to £20
also, FP are showing a £3 discount
Anon
July 11th, 2014 - 12:51pmIt may appear cheaoer in the US, but the point is, once you add VAT to the base price (and we can’t avoid tax can we?) the price is very similar.
US price might include local tax but they usually don’t do they? Isn’t sales tax added at the till?
booboo
July 11th, 2014 - 12:56pmstill doesn’t explain the big difference especially as there has never been such a price gap between previous sets – sales tax is never added to on-line prices that i have ever seen
going on past items there should be at most a 15% price gap
UK rrp £33 = $56
USA rrp + $35
that’s a 40% difference
Chris
July 11th, 2014 - 1:32pmI did a calculation of the cost of importing one from the US, with delivery and import duty it would cost over £40 for 1 figure, FPI is still cheaper even at the price listed
Anon
July 11th, 2014 - 2:16pmThe perceived difference is being exaggerated by the unusually high pound at the moment.
If you use a more normal rate of $1.55 or 1.60 to the pound and once you add 20% to the US price (to take into account VAT in the UK). The difference is about 15%
booboo
July 11th, 2014 - 2:31pmstill to much, its got the same base price out of china so even allowing for all factors its still wrong
Anonymous
July 10th, 2014 - 11:03pmPre-ordered. 🙂 Whilst doing so I forgot about the P&P cost of £3.50. 🙁 So, that’s £33.49 altogether for 1 figure and 6 accessories. :O
The Living Shadow
July 10th, 2014 - 8:50pmSooooo expensive!! It’s a shame because I really wanted this, but for that price, I’ll probably give it a miss. 🙁
Tommyd987
July 10th, 2014 - 1:59pmI really do love this set and will defiently be buying, although one thing that bugs me slightly is that the really old 11th doctor didn’t wear that costume, still I’m not complaining
Judooning
July 10th, 2014 - 1:53pmSo the reason for the higher price tag is so FPI could get the figure in to the UK?
I think we should be pretty grateful for that then.
Really looking forward to getting this!
booboo
July 10th, 2014 - 1:55pmwe dont know the reason, its puzzling
but i notice some sites are saying what’s written here is gospel – it isn’t, its speculation
Judooning
July 10th, 2014 - 2:01pmWhat I think we need to do is wait for this new Asylum set to go up on order. If the price has also increased on that (based on 2 standard figures and 1 FX figure) then we know hey have raised the price on all figures as that set would be distributed for the UK.
booboo
July 10th, 2014 - 2:05pmthat’s supposed to be a toys r us set
interestingly one retailer has that up for pre order in the USA for $62 – that’s £36
it has a RRP of $75 that’s £43
I dont think it will be that expensive here
Judooning
July 10th, 2014 - 2:16pmDoes that also have a release date for September?
booboo
July 10th, 2014 - 2:17pmyes, in the USA at least, could arrive here sooner
Judooning
July 10th, 2014 - 2:57pmI hope so, It looks a really nice set.
Then there is the classic Dalek Asylum set to follow…If it hasn’t been cancelled as there has been no mention of it for a while.
Wholords2
July 10th, 2014 - 9:52pmI asked MrF about it and he said it’s not true mad that he thinks that there’s a possibility that it being £32 is a mistake but he’s not sure
booboo
July 10th, 2014 - 10:14pmso much speculation and no answers
DoctorArkham
July 10th, 2014 - 10:31pmI think its trying (I’m going to put a LOT of emphasis on that) to match the price tag in the US of $37.99 which is£22.18 in Britain. So really its not much cheaper if you think about it, and if you order from the States you’ll get taxed and held at customs! So you could be paying up to £40 in the USA if you think about it, and we’re SLIGHTLY better off. I think.
the astronaut of death
July 10th, 2014 - 12:53pmYesssssssssssssssss!!!!!!
I just pre ordered one I can’t wait ! It is a good feeling knowing you definitly have one
Booboo how long after the 30th of September will it be delivered
booboo
July 10th, 2014 - 12:55pmif its arrives then 2-5 days
Anonymous
July 10th, 2014 - 12:57pmSo could it jot arrive?
Anonymous
July 10th, 2014 - 12:57pmSorry
So booboo could it not arrive?
booboo
July 10th, 2014 - 12:58pmyes it will arrive, but delivery dates are always fluid, especially this far ahead
you never now it might arrive early
DoctorArkham
July 10th, 2014 - 10:32pm*cough*Ace*cough*
George
July 10th, 2014 - 10:16amI can’t believe they wouldn’t include a second body for that price. Hell, it might be cheaper to buy from an American website even with the import costs (not to mention less risky, last time I bought with FPi they changed my order on the basis that they wanted to change something with the details because they’d sold out quicker than expected, so resold the ones they’d already taken my money for before even giving a refund, as well as sending my order at an increased postage charge as they forgot to deduct it).
America seems safer and cheaper.
booboo
July 10th, 2014 - 11:09amits above the import tax level so 20% vat and £8 handling if it gets picked up
Creative Whovian
July 10th, 2014 - 9:21amOuch… 30 pounds?
Arthur Stengos
July 10th, 2014 - 9:17amJust what I wanted. I’ve ordered three. and two of the new Ace figure. About time, too.
Doctor 909
July 10th, 2014 - 8:15amLuckily, I have my birthday (ironically when Doctor who series 8 starts) so I think my parents may get it for me. But I can’t over the price for this, it’s ridiculous!!!! I really hope this is just an error and will be corrected soon. But I can see where CO are coming from they have to sculpt about 10 new pieces for this (12th Doctor, Aged Doctor, Handels, 2 waistcoats, a main body piece to fit matts legs, a new coat, two new arms and possibly a new sonic closed) but I think all that for £15 is outrageous though.
DoctorArkham
July 10th, 2014 - 10:34pmIts a fan favourite, perfect chance to squeeze more money out…
I am the 11th DOCTOR
July 10th, 2014 - 7:32amThey should do a 3.75 wave that just has monsters
.Spoonhead
.Vigil
.Ice Warrior (that has it’s armour open)
.Timezombie
.Whisperman
And the sets could be:
.Rings of Akhaten set that includes the mummy
.Name of The Doctor set that includes Dr Simeon
Mumble5557 Online
July 10th, 2014 - 7:14am£30?? Gease!!! I’m not made of money
Doctor Stu
July 10th, 2014 - 3:19amCan’t believe its cheaper in America, haven’t CO realised that Doctor Who is a British show yet after like 9 years of character options figures (if that’s right)

July 10th, 2014 - 12:24amWill this be in shops and if yes what shops?

July 9th, 2014 - 10:55pmI honestly an not bothered about the price of this”set” as I have bought single figures of eBay for around the smae price. Plus, this is bound to be a rare find after it’s been out for a while
the astronaut of death
July 9th, 2014 - 9:33pmBooboo if I order this as £30 and later on it gets reduced will I have to pay the reduced price or will I still pay £30
booboo
July 9th, 2014 - 9:35pmthat’s a very good question and only one FP can answer
the astronaut of death

July 9th, 2014 - 11:07pmFP only charge you when they send the item, if I remember correctly. Therefore you will only be charged the price it is at when it is released.
Anonymous
July 10th, 2014 - 7:08amI always pay by PayPal on their site. Wonder if and overpayment will be refunded… I’m sure it would be 🙂
ahunter8056
July 9th, 2014 - 9:27pmEven FP employees are looking into this and enquiring CO as to why the price is so high. Hopefully we see a price reduction soon, as this is disgusting.
booboo
July 9th, 2014 - 9:31pmits not just this set though ace is £14.50 in the USA – £20.00 here
Nicholas
July 9th, 2014 - 9:09pmAt this price, I think it might be an idea to go in for that job interview I’ve been putting off.
RexisnotyourDoctor
July 9th, 2014 - 8:56pmIf the price discrepancy between the UK and the US is accurate that’s appalling. Why is the show’s domestic audience paying through the nose for an item designed and co – produced by a UK company, when overseas fans are getting it for considerably less?
I expect to pay more these days for figures and models aimed primarily at an American customer base, but British fans having to pay over the odds for DW merch is just *wrong*. The BBC shhould really try to prevent this sort of thing from happening.
Glad I decide to pass on this item now.
Fezmeister
July 9th, 2014 - 8:29pmI really don’t know what to do. I haven’t bought any figures this year, but regret missing out on the War Doctor. I was so excited to see this announcement, though now I’m not sure I can justify €50 for one 5″ figure. I could quite easily let it pass me by, yet I would love to own a 7B Eleventh Doctor.
Explosive Cookie
July 9th, 2014 - 7:45pmPre-ordered 2 about an hour ago. I hope the price is a cock up and is reduced, but I’m still willing to pay sixty-odd pounds.
When The Doctor Was Me
July 9th, 2014 - 6:49pmI agree with most people that the price is a bit much, but at the end of the day its a collectors item! There are other collector figures that are double if not more than this! With similar features! Plus if people wait and dont get it, it will only go on ebay at double/triple the price, so i say get it whilst its cheap (ish)!
booboo
July 9th, 2014 - 6:56pmagreed, its the price difference bewtween the UK and USA that’s puzzling
When The Doctor Was Me
July 9th, 2014 - 7:02pmYeah it is a bit! But this is our price so thats what i’ll pay. Would love to see a new image showcasing Handles and the Aged doctor holding the cane!
booboo
July 9th, 2014 - 7:11pmi nice picture of everything you get would be nice right now
suspect they will want to show case this at SDCC though

July 9th, 2014 - 6:46pmWoah! 30 quid!? Still gonna get it though 😀
