Doctor Who The Wheel In Space Collector’s Edition Vinyl LP

Available to order from www.amazon.co.uk

“You know our ways. You must be destroyed.”

The complete full-cast soundtrack of this classic ‘lost’ BBC TV adventure is presented for the first time on 3LP vinyl by Demon Records, with linking narration by Wendy Padbury.

When the Doctor (Patrick Troughton) and Jamie (Frazer Hines) are rescued by the crew of the Wheel space station, they uncover the Cybermen’s plot to invade Earth with the help of deadly Cybermat servants. First broadcast in 1968, the story introduces a new companion for the Doctor in the shape of Zoe Herriot, played by Wendy Padbury.

Written by David Whitaker from a story by Kit Pedler, and directed by Tristan de Vere Cole, only two episodes are known to exist on film. Thankfully all six survive as sound recordings, complete with incidental music and the BBC Radiophonic Workshop’s familiar Doctor Who theme music. With a striking cover illustration, the three ‘Bernalium Blue’ coloured 12” discs are housed in inner sleeves with vintage TV guide-style listings for each episode

No it’s available to preorder from a well known high street store that also sells online. (The one with the dog and gramaphone logo). Preordered mine from there.

Tempted to buy this but my copy of The Tenth Planet was faulty, as was the replacement copy Demon Music sent me so it’s made me reluctant to purchase any further DW vinyls.

Previous six-episode stories (and six+) were released in a literal box set, and look gorgeous. This looks like it may be some kind of simpler gatefold. A shame but still looking forward to it, although would have preferred a different story and an animation of Wheel instead!

Yeah, I guess this means no Wheel animation in ‘26. Ah well.

It’ll probably be the same design as the Blake’s 7 triple disc set

RPG74 – perhaps a silly question but why might this vinyl release indicate no Wheel animation?

I’m starting to wonder if there’s a huge push on as BBC/Demon* have made 3 releases this year and starting early for 2026.

Before any missing Episodes turn up or a 2 or 3 release schedule for Animation. Although be interesting if Sea Devil’s gets its own release as Daleks & War Games.

Still I’m looking forward to this as I have for each release. The more the merrier.

Not sure if I like that sleeve or not. I certainly like the Servo Robot. I haven’t bought any of these vinyl soundtracks and am thinking of picking one up. Wheel was the first Who story I saw way back when, so this could be a way of celebrating that. Until FIF appear with the four missing episodes:)

The Amazon listing doesn’t let you pre-order at the moment – seem to remember the latest blu-ray collection release had a similar issue initially too!

Yeah, I Remember the Latest Dr Who Blu- Ray Collection Release having Pre-Order Problems from Amazon for a Couple of Days. I ended up Ordering it from Zaavi in the End. It Turned out for the Best as on Arrival it was Well Packed and Even Arrived Early.
