Doctor Who The Tom Baker Record Collection Vinyl LP

“My life is an endless journey across the bounds of Space and Time…”

Limited to just 600 and each including a signed print from Tom Baker, Demon Records celebrates Tom Baker’s unique portrayal of the famous Time Lord, almost 50 years after he made his debut in the role. This limited edition 4 LP vinyl box set mixes thrilling audio drama with interviews and readings by the man
himself.

Genesis of the Daleks is the original 1979 album version of the legendary TV serial, whilst Doctor Who and the Pescatons is the made-for-vinyl audio drama first released in 1976. Exploration Earth: The Time Machine is an adventure specially produced by BBC Schools Radio in 1976, and The State of Decay is a unique audiobook reading from 1982. The collection is completed by a selection of BBC radio interviews with Tom Baker made in the 1970s and 1980s.

Presented inside an eye-catching Fourth Doctor O-ring sleeve, this Dalek-fronted quadpack design houses 4 x 140g LPs in Orange, Green, Blue & Red vinyl, each with full cast & credits and its own brand new graphic design. Every copy of this release also includes an exclusive, frameable photograph of the Fourth Doctor, hand signed by Tom Baker himself.

Co-starring Elisabeth Sladen, Ian Marter, Bill Mitchell and John Westbrook, and accompanied by the BBC Radiophonic Workshop’s familiar Doctor Who theme, these dramas, readings and interviews are a fitting way to celebrate one of the most celebrated Doctors of all

Are my eyes deceiving me or have they used Jodie’s TARDIS on the inside?
I also didn’t expect this to be a gatefold

Please release the 1980s Tom Baker’s State of Decay narrated audiobook on CD! Could be teamed up with another release, happy if it is on its own. Miss the Tom Baker narrated Fury from the Deep too!

Hi Nick, are you aware that this is on the blu ray release of Tom’s last season? I copied it to mini disc as the tapes I had were somewhat worn.

      Mini Disc?

      Now, that’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time.

At first I thought it was a shame that two of these are re-releases but looking into it, there really aren’t any other stories narrated by Tom. Seems like it’s just Slipback that’s missing the vinyl treatment and that’s the wrong Baker.

Nick: I was surprised to see that it wasn’t available when you mentioned it. Perhaps you could email Big Finish about it, see if they could get the licence. (Or if Tom’s able, re-record an unabridged version.)

Poor Tom has spent the past 2 years just signing things by the look of it. What a legend

Oh dear. Reports on Twitter that the (very handsome) Dalek image is a fan render used without permission.

seen that, happened before, legal mind field i would imagine as BBC/ Terry Nation estate own Dalek rights lock stock and barrel.

No. The BBC own the Dalek image, Nation estate owns the idea and description.

Even so, this is an artwork and so copyright is retained by the artist. Otherwise Andrew Skilleter, Alister Pearson etc. would’ve been sued for painting Daleks, regardless what it was for.

In fact, the Nation estate owns a little less of the Daleks since 2005.

well if we are asked to take it down by the BBC then we will, until then this was sent to us via official channels so its up to them to sort it out.

The BBC will always crack down (And rightly so!) on anyone making money from their Copyright. BUT in this case this is a Fan Rendered Image from this guy’s site, which in no way is breaching Copyright as no payment is being made from it. Now that his image has been used on an Official product, I expect there will be a legal challenge. He has already contacted Demon Records to complain. As to unlicensed products there are thousands on ebay, etsy, redbubble, amazon & more: They must all be hoovering up a large chunk of BBC profits, but they don’t seem to do anything about them – Strange!

I think you’ll be waiting a long time, because this company is all about vinyl reissues.

Tom’s sig is on the print that’s comes with the set. All the nest, crest, quest box sets have a print signed. It’s in the paragraph under the pack shot last line.

I have loved these, would have preferred another Adventure narration , but hey Exploration Earth, State of Decay original abridged reading is fun, and interviews from the archive,. I have probably bought Genesis more times than Shada 🙂
