I got this book today and whilst its a gorgeous catalogue of Monsters and enemies, to say it has every single monster is a white lie. Whilst some are obviously more villain’s like Cassandra and The Wire; there’s quite a lot of omissions. I’ve looked at monsters from New Who only, but I can tell there’s a fair few missing from Classic Who, but there’s no pages for; The Handbots, Sun Possessed, The Peg Dolls, The Repears, The Midnight Monster, Gameshow robots, The Smilers, Eknodines, The Siren, Headless Monks, Sandmen, Time Beetle, Futurekind, Hoix, Isolus, Graske, Emojibots or The Pandorica Alliance is briefly mentioned but scarcely.
I can understand maybe why some might not appear but I’m sure a smaller page wouldn’t have been an issue. Perhaps if there is to be a Villain version, they will all be included in some form. It’s also rather odd to have Brannigan, Bannakafalata, the Vinvocci, the Tritovoeres and the Tivolians, considered as monsters and have Zellin and Rakaya considered as Monsters, but overall its a must buy and I would say its quite grown up in its content. It’s got lots of new information.

I got this today. The full page monster images are stunning.

If you like your monsters then i highly recommend this. It’s the sort of book where you wish every image was a poster on your wall growing up.

    12 are new who
    6 are Jodie
5 are series 12 (Resolution was on the boxset of series 12)
    3 Tennant originating monsters
    and 3 Smith originating monsters

They really could have done better, and if they’re going to do new series monsters, then spread it across all the doctors.

(There are no 9th doctor monsters or anything that started from Capaldi)

Awful cover, far too much new era stuff and no nod to the rich past

These books have always emphasised the incumbent era, usually to an even higher extent than seen here.

Why does the cover feature so many monsters for Jodie’s era though? Of all the monsters there have been, feels like odd choices, especially monsters who have had one episode and didn’t stand out

Because she is the current doctor.

She may be the current Doctor, but the book covers the whole history of monsters, so surely the cover should reflect that

Every book of this kind released since the return has favoured the current doctor at time of publication. Besides… it’s just a cover

Because the cover is made to increase sales of the book (which showing the latest “monsters” that have appeared on TV would do), not to make old-school fans happy.

Not keen on the cover art. I don’t even know what that is in the triangle bottom right.

It could be a Hoix. It is a very odd cover design. Hopefully we will see more layout content nearer the time.

      It’s a Dreg from “Orphan 55”

I’d love to see sample pages of this. It’s of definite interest as long as it’s similar to The Dalek book or The Vault rather than a children’s book.
