Clara and the Doctor: Linked through time in the most impossible way!

Clara ‘Oswin’ Oswald: The Impossible Girl. She and the Doctor first met on the Dalek Asylum planet where she claimed to have been fending off Dalek attacks for a year, making soufflés – where did she get the milk and eggs? Oswin agreed to deactivate the forcefield around the planet, but when human the Doctor went to rescue her, he discovered the terrible truth. Oswin wasn’t a girl any longer, but actually an insane Dalek who, unable to cope with her conversion, had retreated into a fantasy world. Oswin fulfilled her promise of helping the Doctor, telling him to “Run. Run, you clever boy, and remember…” They will meet again… and again.

impossible-box_twinfinal580

The Doctor, appalled by his inability to save Amy and Rory from the Weeping Angels, retreated to Earth and hid himself and the TARDIS away from the Universe. Another chance but ill-fated meeting with Clara Oswald in snowy Victorian London pulled him out of his solitude and set him back on a new adventure…. to find the Impossible Girl!

Set details:

Presented here in the Impossible Set, together but apart, are the Eleventh Doctor in his iconic Victorian frock coat from The Snowmen, and Oswin Oswald, the Impossible Girl, in her iconic red dress from Asylum of the Daleks.

imposs5801

The Doctor’s outfit features his top hat and jacket with fur and brocade detailing. Oswin’s outfit is a one piece red dress with her soufflé-making accessory belt.

imposs5802

The set is presented in a unique double sided foil embellished SDCC collector pack with ‘peephole’ Dalek eye window on one side and a Victorian winter vista on the other.

The 11th Doctors head can be swapped with the aged 11th Doctors head from the Time of the Doctor set.

It does come off as it’s not attached anywhere; however, it doesn’t go on the same again, and it’s tricky to remove.

Does it need to? Frankly, I’m really happy without, I’ve got plenty of 5″ villains, Including Daleks for an Asylum of the Daleks scene, and a tweed doctor to go with it. And frankly, It doesn’t need that either, just take of the belt and say it’s modern clara.

    • Trenzalore1502

      August 17th, 2014 - 4:41pm

Well, apparently SDCC packaging is always big and ‘flash’. I probably won’t be keeping it though, unless it really impresses me and it’s resealable, which (thankfully) it looks like it is – but I obviously don’t know that for sure.

Going off-topic a little bit, whats the likelihood of shops (Argos) getting the Capaldi 3.75 inch figure in the week after the episode has premiered on the Saturday? Because I’ll be on Holiday then and am wondering if I’ll be likely to find one in either an Argos or other toy shop.

  • Trenzalore1502

    August 8th, 2014 - 5:41pm

I know if you zoom in on the pictures it’s bad picture quality, however, I think from just that the face sculpt looks a lot better, and the lips are a LOT less red for Clara, and I’m not worried about the Doctor, as the images of that figure look good. Hopefully Clara will look really good in hand.

    • Davide Edinburgh

      August 9th, 2014 - 2:29am

Yeah, I mean I don’t know why doctors and companions and daleks and cybermen figures are best sellers, I personally prefer the monsters and aliens, they make the collection more interesting.

  • When The Doctor Was Me

    August 8th, 2014 - 2:35pm

Despite tellling myself to only order one of the two sets ive gone and got both! I missed out on the river and pandorica, 11th Doctor and dalek and ace sdcc exclusives so i dont want to miss this to! Love the regeneration packaging just not keen on this ones! Maybe in person it will look much better! I think these would have looked wonderful in the war doctor or rengerarion set packaging styles! Side by side! I get why its like this, and like the premise, just at the moment not keen on the execution!

It’s not exactly the ‘Victorian Winter Vista’ on the 11th. Doctor’s side of the box that they are advertising it as? Unless of course it’s just a Promo? But at least it has the icicle image & a couple of snowmen ~ So I’m still more than happy with it…

    • Sam Richard Bentley

      August 5th, 2014 - 2:34pm

Except, they are right. No matter how illogical it is to say it – it is not a great sculpt. It’s another example of only knowing who it is because we have been told. Honestly – if they hadn’t said ‘this is Claea’ none of us would recognise Jenna in that figure.

    • Doctor 909

      August 6th, 2014 - 9:56am

I think the sculpt is fine, I think it’s one of two things that make Oswin look different
      1) It may just be the paint apps that make it not look like Jenna
      Or
      2) The lighting that the pics were taken in

I defiantly think the sculpt itself is fine the only thing which is weird is the hair, it reminds me of the hair CO gave Clara in Wave 1 (3.75″). Anyway, if we do get another variant CO will probably improve the paint apps and possibly the hair sculpt.

      shape of Clara’s lips
      2. her eyelashes are a bit wierd
otherwise i think its great!! ill be repainting it like i do with all my
      figures anyway

    • RORY DOCTOR RIVER POND

      August 6th, 2014 - 5:13pm

Yeah Wholords2, even in the 3.75 they didn’t paint her upper lip. I think it’s the hair, and where the eyes are. It’s totally different to the pro to type. Usually it is, but not that much!

Everything is “limited” ultimately as it is an exclusive, but there will be plenty of them (unless they sell quickly, which they probably will).
