Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock Now Available on PlayStation 3

With thanks to BBC Worldwide…

Players travel across time and space to discover the mystery of the Eternity Clock

LONDON, 3.01PM 23rd May, 2012 – BBC Worldwide Digital Entertainment & Games today announced that Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock is now available for download on PlayStation®Network on PlayStation®3 globally.

Brand New Launch Trailer…

The game immerses players in the universe of Doctor Who across 600 years of history and the future. Players take on the roles of the Doctor and River Song as they travel across time and space to save the Earth, and time itself. In order to be successful, they must master the complexities of time travel through exceptional time-based game play – changes made in one time will impact another, creating multiple possibilities and challenging players to solve puzzles across the centuries.

Equipped with the Doctor’s “sonic screwdriver,” River’s “blaster” and other fantastic gadgets, players journey through four London time periods and a number of other-worldly locations in search of answers. With collaborative multiplayer capabilities, players can take part in the game simultaneously across different time periods, facing some of the most fearsome monsters including Silurians, Cybermen, Daleks and the Silence.

Robert Nashak, EVP Digital Entertainment and Games at BBC Worldwide said, “Doctor Who is such a beloved BBC franchise, and we’re fortunate to work collaboratively with the creative minds behind the TV show, bringing fans an authentic experience in the universe that is Doctor Who.”

The stars of the Doctor Who TV series Matt Smith (the Doctor) and Alex Kingston (River Song) provide voiceovers for the game, and motion capture technology creates in-game character movements to add realism to the ultimate Doctor Who gaming experience.

Developed by BBC Worldwide Digital Entertainment & Games and Supermassive Games, Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock is available for download on PlayStation®Network for the PlayStation®3 in the UK for £13.99, U.S. for $19.99 and across Europe for €17.99. The PlayStation Vita and PC platforms will follow later this year.

you need to wait till the cybermen have smashed through the class stand on top of the bit where the puzzles are once the two groups of cybermen have passed through run to the lift on them left and go down to the first floor and wait till the cybermen have followed u back down and go back to the topand complete the uzzles youll have plenty of time before the cybermen make it back to the top and also if u power shoot 5 cybermen with rivers gun you will earn a trophy

Just thought I’d mention that a ~1G ‘patch’ has been released for the PS3 version. I haven’t run the new patch much, as I already have the platinum trophy for this game, but I presume it fixes most of the bugs in the orginal release.

There’s also a ‘cloud’ save feature now.

I LOVE this game and can’t wait for the next, don’t know why everyone is criticising it so much, what did they expect, anyway people may not like it as that are used to action games like COD, but I’m not, so I love it
    Do you like it boobo?

It’s fine for what it is. I enjoyed the voice acting and there’s still fun to be had for fans. I think the game just seriously lacks polish, (a bit glitchy etc) and is a bit simple, which is a shame considering how long they delayed it. (The lack of 5.1 surround on a ps3 title is a big no-no too.)

I think people ‘expect’ a full-fledged/length awesome Doctor Who game. This isn’t it… but then again, it never said it would be.

They should do a massive open world one like skyrim where you get in the tardis go where you want to go and do missions there it just explore and like on skyrim where you get followers you can get companions to come with you, it could be where you follow the person like skyrim instead of side scrolling, who agrees

Do you think it would work booboo, as I think it would be great!

Yeah, graphics of the eternity clock with missions like wit, so you can explore or do quests

I don’t want a Doctor Who MMO, but I agree a well-made ‘open world’ game would work well. Something that gets away from the puzzles, and focuses more on quests, story and gameplay that actually reflect the characters and series (or even better, properly expands on it). In other words, a game all age groups can enjoy.
If they could get one or more of the original writers in to create the story, that would help a lot. 😀

I think if it is a 12 it would be more interesting, complex and challenging instead of all ages do it is too easy for older kids

Also you make your own character and can play as either the doctor or your own character and you some how have rivers gun and you if you want to can hire someone elce to help you defeat the monsters, you have to choose from clever people or good fighters

Sigh. If they ever patch The Eternity Clock properly I would probably actually enjoy replaying this (since the story is fairly enyoyable… and I love the voice acting). But mine crashes so often it’s frustrating. Pretty much every level something has bugged out, one of the characters has gotten stuck in a wall/floor, River has vanished or the game has just locked up. I’ve had to restart the levels so many times it’s painful.

This is easily the buggiest game I’ve played for a long time.
(Hopefully they sort it for the next game).

      June 28th, 2012 - 11:03am

I finally managed to get all the trophies… I enjoyed this a lot better on the second playthrough… mostly because I’ve figured out what often causes the game to bug out, so I managed to avoid those and have a smoother game. (This game plays like it’s a Beta).

I’d rate this game 6/10… if they fixed the bugs then I probably would give it an 8.

Good Game did a review of The Eternity Clock on the ABC just recently. Needless to say they weren’t that impressed (the score was out of 10).

The review was quite informative though, so if you’re interested you can see it here: http://www.abc.net.au/abc3/goodgamesp/transcripts/s3525218.htm (The video is suitable for all ages).

I personally wouldn’t have scored it that low, but I otherwise tend to agree with most of the points made.

    VERY POOR GAME!

Just completed it today and i came to the conclusion it is one of the most boring games i`ve ever played its just the same thing over and over again every level all you do is sonic a door, push a crate, climb a ladder, sneak past a guard (that bloke needs to be fired lol!!) get in a lift, complete the same mini games every now and then and thats it just in a different order per level.

I also have an issue with the cut scenes the audio doesnt sync with the characters very well even then you cant understand any of it, i had to turn the subtitles on which naturally becomes distracting.

Dalek voices are terrible beyond words.

      Gameplay is horrific.

All in all good story VERY pooly executed

Whilst I enjoyed the game, I’ll agree with you about the guards. So irritating and annoying. They say the most pathetic things. “I haven’t checked down here yet.” Yes you have! You just went down there 10 seconds ago! 😉 Fire those guards! lol 🙂

Just completed it! Great game. Matt Smith and Alex Kingston are wonderful as always and the storyline is amazing. Very timey wimey! 😀
However, the game is incredibly glitched, the checkpointing is quite bad and the puzzles can be annoying sometimes. If they can work on all the bad points in the second game (if there is one) then we might be on our way to the perfect Doctor Who game. 🙂

    Overall score: 7/10

Finally defeated Vekkis. I’m now on the bit where River has to turn off the shield to get to the statue.
    Vekkis: Foolish apes.
    Doctor: Homo Sapiens!
That bit made me laugh. 😀

i didnt manage to get all the hats and dairy pages but i repeated a couple of levels and found some more. if you are stuck on the part with riversong, i found it easier to duck below the liquid pipe instead of the weird flower things. you dont need to see the silurins to do the sonic bit (they dont need to be on screen) just duck behind the pipe, scan with the sonic and you might do it easier
