There’s a brand new face at the controls of the TARDIS as Peter Capaldi becomes the Twelfth Doctor steering the blue box. In a feature-length opener we see the Doctor crash land in Victorian London.

As Clara struggles to recognise the man she thought she knew so well, killers are stalking the capital. A slaughterhouse restaurant and a buried space ship lead the Doctor into a confrontation with a long forgotten foe … but how far will this new man go to protect his friends? The Doctor and Clara encounter wonders and horrors. They meet a fleet of Daleks while attempting to rescue a stranded ship of human survivors, face ranks of Cybermen stalking the Earth, and go back in time to join Robin Hood in a fight with killer robots. As Clara falls for handsome fellow teacher Danny, can she keep her two extraordinary lives going?

My season 8 steelbook just came today. Number 147 of 1000, (only joking).
But it has come today though.

    Lovely set
Capaldi was a brilliant Doctor, Jenna was the most beautiful woman in the show’s history, the opening titles were good, visually it looks stunning, but the writing was dreadful. But still it fills a slot on the shelf

Series 9 is my favourite Capaldi series, soft spot for it. It felt a welcome change when it aired – I prefer 2 part stories, spreads it out much better. I think series 9 maintained a consistent clear theme and style. Series 10 was great but as I say series 9 hits different for me

CapaldiI was a great doctor. Took him a while to grow on me. I love series 10 Capaldi, but not series 8 Capaldi, too uncaring for me. Series 8 has some great stories like Mummy, Flatline, Deep Bresth, and Time Heist. But it has some disappointments too like Listen, the caretaker, kill the moon, and the two part finale IMO.

I’ve only seen them all once I think so I’m giving them another try. Just recently watched Deep Breath, a good idea trying to get out ruined by the script, specifically a lot of the dialogue, I question that Moffat was previously a comedy writer and I hate the Paternost gang or whatever they are called. Into The Dalek was actually better than I remember to be fair. Robots of Sherwood tomorrow lunchtime. From what I can remember I think I liked Listen but yes that two part finale was wrong . All the new show runners seem to struggle with closing series why does it always have to be an event? Just end on a good story like Talons of Weng Chiang or the Time Meddler!

Well, that was a pleasant surprise! Redesigned disc art! I really wasn’t expecting that after the general reissues of 6 & 7 and the photo editions on the 50th. It’s nice though and keeping the colour scheme of the packaging

Got mine safe and sound today from Amazon logistics sometimes I get the odd thing sent by Royal Mail but this was guaranteed day of release and wouldn’t have arrived on time otherwise very pleased a lovely and final edition to my new series collection as I have the originals as released steelbooks of series 9-12 and won’t be purchasing if re-released with new art as I love the versions I already have.

You’ll say that, I said that but now I own all 4 4k joker steelbooks designs, 2 4k tenet steels, 3 Ironman 1 steels, 2 Wonder Woman 84 4k steels (love the designs), 2 dr strange steels, 2 gotg vol1 4k steels. It soon becomes about the art or completionist

You love the steelbook for s11? I thought it was rubbish. Just a lazy reuse of a piece of promotional art. I actually debated if I was even going to bother buying it. (Of course I did, anyway.)

Just got mine from HMV, looks stunning as always. Now that they’re up to series 9/10 which have already released I’m praying they go back and just re-release those as the covers are beautiful as well as the first 3 series with the new logo packaging.
