Wow now that was an early Christmas Present a wasn’t expecting this morning, check it out. They kept that quite but it’s confirmed that we getting another animation in March The Savages it’s already available to Pre-order on Amazon. Yeah check it out am just so thrilled that were getting this announcement and it’s the last story of William Hartnell’s 3rd Season. Wow guys check it out this is just amazing that they are continuing the Animations.

Not that I condone the words expressed by Ian Levine – but I really, really hope the main Animation feature remains as faithful as possible to the original source material, for the sake of new viewers getting into this story for the first time. By all means make extra special edition cuts, but the animations should remain faithful akin to ‘The Invasion’ and that beautifully made ‘Wheel in Space’ recently shared on YouTube by Tardis-Girl.

That said, great news to know the sound track will be given a refresh in quality, and to have a HD resolution photo recon and frame rate reworking of the surviving fan recorded footage is (personally) all I need to enjoy the story as the most authentic item in the set at the best possible presentation.

Well I thought if it wasn’t smugglers it would be savages. Completes the dodo era (well excluding her massacre cameo). Also gives us a run from the ark to the season 3 finale the war machines. BBC studios team I’m expecting as it’s been a while since underwater menace. Hopefully the criticism has been taken on board. So 3 discs. First 4 part animation that’s got 3 discs. Guessing either there is an extra that required it moving to 3 discs or they have decided to standardise the animations that they all get 3 discs going forward.

@bablebro I can see the city being expanded for animation and maybe look more futuristic and less like a set but outside of that I can’t see there being too much tinkering they could do with it. The recon is always going to be the more faithful experience though due to them using stills photos and footage where available.

Going by derek handley who does the recons that’s what the recons are for. To give a more authentic experience than the animations can provide

Possibly a daft question but are the collectors and standard editions exactly the same? Looking at the cheaper ones and wondering if they are the same just in different packaging.

The Content on the Discs is the same for both Limited and Standard, But the Standard is Basically A Slipcase amaray Blu-Ray Bumber BD Case with a Cutdown Booklet at a cheaper-ish price (The LE gives you the contents of each disc along with the Background for each story with more of Lee Bindings excellent Artwork, the Standard is literally just the DISC By DISC Contents and Select images from the LE Booklet)

They are completely identical disc content wise. Only difference is you don’t get the bigger box and the booklets are abridged.

Same content, just the booklet is thinner and has the disc layout only, not the write ups on each story in the limited editions. I prefer standard as cheaper and they don’t start to fall apart like my season 19.

I much prefer the standard Blu-ray releases than the bulky cardboard limited editions.

Plus the standard editions are more compact and fit easier on a shelf made specifically for DVDs or Blu-rays.

I think also the factor if the standard has an bad error a couple (not all) it has been made good by the time the standard release comes around. I buy the limited edition, binge it and flog it straight away to get most of what I paid back (54.99). I then wait two plus years to buy the standard editions which have gone as low as £26.99 in the sales. The only downside is I get them signed and because of the wait for standards some actors and crew have passed on, but hey I’m never going to get them all signed

I’ve been thinking this all day – It looks as if that extra finger’s been brushed out has it not?

He fixed it when the original PR went out, when it was first spotted by fans, but it was already too late to change the Limited Edition artwork.
