October 29th, 2024 - 5:35pmStill nothing from Zavvi despite pre ordering on the day it was announced and having my money taken out almost a week ago.
Messaged and zero response. Really not happy Especially when other people have got it early from Zavvi and mines still showing as Awaiting Despatch!!

October 30th, 2024 - 2:05pmI like the Remembrance specialedition, but thought the happiness patrol had lots of unnecessary footage added and made it drag. Prefer the original as it’s a tighter edited story
SVH
November 1st, 2024 - 4:05pmWith runtimes, you have to take into account that the Silver Nemesis VHS version runtime also includes all the copyright notices/BBC logo/Also on Video promo at the beginning of Part One and the end of Part Three. Like The Tom Baker Years and The Colin Baker Years, it’s presented as a full VHS rip.
Craig F
November 1st, 2024 - 7:39pmThanks SVH was wondering about that makes sense.
Peter
October 29th, 2024 - 9:53amSlight niggle: the booklet needed proof-read a bit more. Silver Nemesis was three episodes broadcast in 1987, was it? Also, the capitalising of all words in the title is wrong. Remembrance Of The Daleks really should read Remembrance of the Daleks, for example.
SVH
November 1st, 2024 - 4:50pmAn onscreen caption on one of the old DVD docs on the set claim that one of the stories (might be Silver Nemesis, can’t recall) was broadcast in 1987. This kind of mistake has been happening for years.

October 29th, 2024 - 9:02amBTW, anyone else notice the side view of S25 is not completely grey and the back artwork is showing by a couple of mm, similar to S2, it’s quite noticeable..
D84
October 29th, 2024 - 3:12pmI have ….
Pete X
October 30th, 2024 - 10:39amYes mine has too, and not straight – thinner at the top than the bottom. Similar 1-2mm on S22 for me, not S2, and also on S26 but from the front not the back.
Doesn’t look too bad when in their J-cards and amongst the mass of the collection. The differing greys (yellowish, bluish or purplish or plain grey – ymmv) used on the spines are more obvious to my eyes.
Rory
October 29th, 2024 - 8:48amCurses. Mine arrived yesterday, but the case was in a bit a shape, with a massive dent in the upper corner and a couple of tears on the edges. Packaging was totally fine, so it was obviously like that when it was packed.
It always annoys me when items get sent out in that condition. Back when I worked retail anything in that state wouldn’t even get to the shelves unless it went straight to the remainder bin.
D84
October 28th, 2024 - 10:20pmArrived safe and sound. No dints or damage thankfully to the box and none of the discs are scratched as far as I can see
Looks like a bumper set – can’t wait to get started
Will be watching carefully for any picture issues as a couple have mentioned
Francis O’Reilly
October 28th, 2024 - 9:10pmOn the subject of sixties sets, maybe they should just issued with photo reconstructions as long as there plenty of retrospective features. By all means use animations if already available but don’t hold any up if none have been produced. Season Three is for the die-hards anyhow. One day we might get an animated Dalek recon from that season.
Timelord1944
October 28th, 2024 - 8:38pmJust watching the location footage of Remembrance of the Daleks. The Daleks are all set up under the bridge for a big explosion. A black bird flies behind them and lands on a window sill, looking in for food by the looks of it. The next thing a huge explosion goes off. He tries to fly but just falls lifeless to the ground. Upsetting to watch really.
JRT!
October 29th, 2024 - 8:10amGee,did he have a heart attack or something or did some shrapnel hit him? Now I’ll be looking for that when I warch it.
The Time Lord 1944
October 29th, 2024 - 12:41pmIt looked like the bang gave him a heart attack. Nothing hit him. As he took off to fly his heart just seemed to give up and he plummetted to the ground. It’s the same bang I think that attracted the emergency services.
Pierre
October 28th, 2024 - 8:28pmThe Dursley documentary has just floored me. I would say it was a waste but he lived a great life and now we know the full story of his life, not just his end. Well done to all the film makers.
Timelord1944
October 28th, 2024 - 8:34pmIt’s the first thing I watched on the set. Very emotional watch. Such a great talent. So pleased he has been remembered in this way.
Lewis James
October 29th, 2024 - 4:18pmYh it blew me away what a lovely person he was. Also watched remembrance special edition & loved it even more than I already did & much prefer the re-edited ending to part three over the odd original with Sylvester talking into camera. Happiness patrol this evening.
Gordon
October 28th, 2024 - 1:01pmThe special edition of happiness patrol absolute blew me away. New effects and scenes have elevated it. I’d almost call it a stone cold classic now instead of underated which I called it previously. Unless I’m watching the production subtitles or listening to the commentary I doubt I’m going to bother with it again.
Gordon
October 28th, 2024 - 1:47pmThe televised version again*
David
October 28th, 2024 - 2:07pmCan’t wait to see this. So pleased you think it’s that great. I do love this little gem of a story
Rory
October 28th, 2024 - 4:28pmI’ve always loved Happiness Patrol, and it was highly deserving of an upgrade to make it less studio-bound and more like Graeme Curry’s excellent novelisation.
S25 as a whole is vastly underrated, with usually only Remembrance getting any praise. Hopefully this set will help people realise just how good the whole season is.
Prowl1701
October 28th, 2024 - 8:29pmMy favorite of the season, love the happiness patrol. My copy has shipped and is crossing the pond, should be here in a little over a week. Looking forward to seeing the new versions of the stories.
Lewis James
October 30th, 2024 - 2:56pmHappiness patrol SE is way better than the original, there’s a much better pace, a chance for the story to develop properly & the new effects of the planet really give it a totally different & better feel.
I’m really blown away by this SE editions so far, probably the best set & it’s great to be able to finally see the stories in full as they originally conceived & meant to be without the 25 minute edit constraints.
Really looking forward to silver nemesis & greatest show, I’m hoping they’ll be equally greatly improved by these SEs. I’m really impressed so far.
Lewis James
October 30th, 2024 - 3:43pmI love the SE edition of Happiness patrol it’s got so much more time for the story to develop & the new effects make the planet feel much more rounded.
I’m really loving these SEs I think it really benefits the stories as it gives us a chance to see them in full as they were originally conceived & meant to be seen without the 25 minute edit time constraints.
Really hoping silver nemisis & greatest show are equally improved & benefit by the SE versions.
SVH
November 5th, 2024 - 12:11pmLewis James: They we’re originally conceived and “meant to be seen” as 25 minute episodes. The reason there is more material is due to over-writing in the scripts, which is preferred to scripts/episodes drastically underrunning. I completely agree that these extended versions are utterly fantastic (for me, the extended episodes are the jewels in the crowns of these new box sets), but they are not how they were meant to be seen.
Snowman
October 28th, 2024 - 12:41pmDespatched, for Delivery up untill 9pm. (That’s a Mighty long time) Hope it fits through the Letterbox if I’m out. Depends on Packaging I suppose).
David
October 28th, 2024 - 1:25pmThey will leave it in a safe place. It’s to big to go through the letter box.
Snowman
October 28th, 2024 - 4:37pmIt’s ok David, It arrived about 30 Minutes after I posted that Comment. Just before I went out. (Luckily).
Nb7
October 28th, 2024 - 11:47amStarted Remembrance last night and blimey that 5.1 mix is fabulous! Possibly the best surround so far on the collection sets and maybe in Who in general.
Gavrok
October 28th, 2024 - 9:35amLeft it a bit late to order this one – one particular retail outlet is still out of stock. Got lucky with another that’s listed above – and they’re currently offering 10% off everything which took £5 off the box set. Wicked!
Neil
October 28th, 2024 - 9:13amSuch a pity the stories with Keff McCulloch scores could t have had a new (optional) music score, I think the stories would have benefited greatly as the music for some of the stories os absolutely dire.
SVH
November 1st, 2024 - 4:13pmCompletely and totally agree. Hate Keff’s incidental music (I hesitate to call it music). Would have loved an optional music track from Mark Ayres. He’s the worst thing to happen to Classic Who, IMO.
SV7
October 28th, 2024 - 8:16amAnyone had a chance to watch the VHS version of Silver Nemesis yet?
David
October 28th, 2024 - 8:51amNo because I haven’t received my boxset yet
SVH
October 29th, 2024 - 6:24pmI have. It’s not been remastered or recreated (as with the repeat edits such as The Deamons, etc). It looks OK, perfectly watchable, but it’s not as sharp or clear as the other episodes in the box set. It’s similar to the Tom Baker Years and The Colin Baker Years – it’s the full video with copyright notice, BBC logo and ‘Other BBC videos’ trailer.
Rex F
October 28th, 2024 - 4:12amAnyone else have glitches in the Remembrance studio footage, when the girl says “Repairs on time controller almost complete” at around 48’47”? I can’t quite tell if it’s a problem with the original tape capture or a disc glitch. Thanks.
Timelord1944
October 28th, 2024 - 11:41amSomeone on Facebook was reporting glitches on disc 4, Happiness Patrol SE episode one. Trevor meets the Kanydman. Disc kept freezing and jumping. Be interesting to see if anyone has that fault.
Gordon
October 28th, 2024 - 12:49pmThe remembrance 1 issue is due to the source material. It’s supposed to be like that
The happiness patrol se did not jump or freeze with mine.
Rex F
October 28th, 2024 - 2:57pmThanks, Gordon. I don’t know who did the original VHS capture, but there are a couple of quirks that you don’t usually see on material handled by the DW regulars.
Timelord1944
October 28th, 2024 - 4:40pmMy set has since arrived and looking at the discs many of them are scratched in places as if they have been badly pressed. Might explain the issue with the Happiness Patrol disc. Might just be a bad scratch not a fault in mastering.
Rex F
October 28th, 2024 - 9:31pmUnfortunately discs pressed in Europe are starting to have an increasing number of scratches, and although it’s far from North American levels yet the titles affected always seem to be those that don’t just have a regular case. I know two Radiance titles caused problems for the company owner, and there was a big premium box set affected (might have been something like a Columbia Classics). Bearing in mind Blu-ray is hard to scratch, I don’t know how much pressure they must be applying to them or what kind of surface they’redragging them on.

October 27th, 2024 - 7:23pmAmazon dispatch at 16:29 for tomorrow delivery. Fingers crossed. Enjoy everyone!

October 26th, 2024 - 11:05pmWhen do we think the next collection will be announced
(Presumably 7), Jan for a march/April release?
Tom Williams
October 27th, 2024 - 4:01amMostly Jan and released for march unless a delay happens but doult it but it has been confirmed aswell apparently from season 25 review video
DPHill
October 27th, 2024 - 3:25pmWhat’s the s25 review video @Tom?
Tom Williams
October 27th, 2024 - 3:37pmGordon did say but only remembered it was a photo on twitter
Yep. Richard bignell posted a photo on twitter of his computer with his copy of season 25 covering what hes Working on which he said was for the next set. However the camera script code for inferno 1 was visible which completely gave it away.
Lewis James
October 27th, 2024 - 4:03pmIt looks like going by this this year we’re only going to get two releases per year now. So next autumn will be a toss up I think between 21 or 6 if it’s not hit any issues.
Pipkin
October 27th, 2024 - 4:28pmThe way its looking, it will be one B/W Season following another towards the end unless they space it out with the 2005+ series collections.
Tom Williams
October 27th, 2024 - 4:52pmDoult very much black and white ones would be made straight away tbh only 6 which has been rumoured so long and 21 more defo for 80s run then the following year I feel could be more a Tom baker one with another set which might be more another hartnal maybe which would only mean 13,16 if possible I dk if they would do one all the time cause off no animations recent either
Pipkin
October 27th, 2024 - 6:08pmI think someone remarked quite recently that they may just keep the animations separate from the collection sets.
Tom Williams
October 27th, 2024 - 10:08pmCan’t be true as otherwise it would end up with every episode that’s missing with just gaps on the season esp on I player most off the animations have been added aswell
Duncan
October 29th, 2024 - 4:31pmOooh is 7 coming soon ? Hope so. Ill get 25 but only when its the standard edition. Season 7 will be an immediate purchase.

October 26th, 2024 - 3:16pmOrdered July. Dispatched and was due 9pm Thursday. After 9 it moved to expected 26th.
This keeps happening with Amazon. Customer service are no help.
Yet again I will have to cancel and reorder it.
Anyone else get this? It’s probably on 50% of preorders.
The Monitor
October 26th, 2024 - 3:19pmSometimes I wait a week and debate with customer service it cannot possibly take 8-10 days from despatch. But you run the tidk of it selling out. I will wait until Monday I guess
GallifreyStands
October 26th, 2024 - 4:12pmAMAZON changed how pre-orders work. If you pre-order you get them 2 to 7 days after everyone else does.
Read the small print.
r.sienicki
October 26th, 2024 - 4:15pmFew times I cancelled the preorders and I reorder once the disc is ‘in stock’. Then they send immediatly. Somehow they just give long estimated delivery date and send last moment to fit the date.
jvm2701
October 26th, 2024 - 5:25pmThat’s exactly what has happened to me with the last 2 Collection box sets. And Customer Service has been less than helpful on both occasions. I had to do as you say you will on Monday: cancelled my order and then the new order was delivered the next day. I know it’s a first world problem but it is very frustrating that it seems baked into their delivery system.
